Be sure to note the location you want the beach bed in as well!  I just noticed today that a full day beach bed rental we booked a month or so ago wasn't specific in the title; just today I saw they advertised South Beach Beds available, and that's what we thought we had, because that's what we had last year. Apparently ours is booked for a Chill Island beach bed, they have them in multiple locations now. Maybe everyone knew that, but today when I saw that, it was new to me. I had just always assumed South Beach for these, and South Beach only.

The beach beds are amazing.  They are located right by a tram stop.  They will give you a wristlet to wear that day.  I don't know now how with the Perfect day how it works (we did Cabanas on our cruise), but that was the old system.  IE for a cabana the night before there is a map left in your cabin.  You go to that location and there is an attendant station where they give you the wristlet and check you in to your assigned bed.
The beach beds are great for one main reason in my eyes.  They have sheer curtains on the sides.  This is great because if you want some shade, than you can just use the curtain to block the direct sun.  If there is a little wind and it is chilly you can again use it to block the wind, making it less chilly.  One of our cruises was the 1st week of November.  It was cool in the a.m., and there was a slight breeze.  We used the sheer curtains on both sides to block out the breeze.  By 11 a.m. the sun was out and it was warm, so we pulled them back.   We are beach people, my hubby loves to snorkel.  This option was heaven to him, bc he would come back exhausted from swimming in the ocean and lay down to take a nap on their amazing beds.  He was out within 5 mins.  Caveat we did this when it was the old Coco Cay, so I don't know if the beds are now different.  However, in July when we did the cabanas we passed the beds, and they looked to be the exact same as they were before Perfect day.
FWIW, just like upgrading your cabin, once you do it, it is hard to go back to the lower level.  IE there are tons of free loungers with umbrellas, but than when you go clamshell you think oh this is great for a few more bucks.  Clamshells sell out, so you go to the beach bed. Wow, this is nirvana.  Now, the next cruise you have done all 3.  It is hard to go back to the free loungers with umbrellas, at least that is true for my hubby and I 90% of the time.  The 10% comes down to availability and cost.

We arrived at Port Everglades around 4:30, and I watched the sail in from deck 12 near the peek-a-boo bridge.

Mongolian grill in the Windjammer tonight.  Took all my will power not to get something in order not to ruin my dinner appetite for later.

Since we departed, there has been some serious motion in the ocean. The captain said it was a combination of the effect of Hurricane Humberto and a high pressure system. It’s not terrible l, but now and then you get a big wave that feels like we swerved to miss a whale.
The captain had to make a follow-up announcement that it should start getting better by 1am.
Dinner tonight is at Jamie’s Italian. Made a reservation onboard and had no issues getting the time I wanted.

I ordered a glass of wine and the waiter brought the bottle and let me have it all.  Umm, ok!

List of things I’ve forgotten so far:
All our cash.  It’s on the kitchen counter.  That might be a problem, but only port is CocoCay so I think we will be okay.
Casino time may be reduced, however.

Thanks for the review.  Glad that you were happy and worth it.  Unfortunately, it seems like 19.99 is a price of the past.  My Anthem cruise is up to $50 CAD.  Crazy.
Sounds like a great option too since you get internet anyways.
Too bad about the Chops lunch.
The activities are subjective.  The Sky Pad is my DD's favorite thing on Mariner, and because of it, it is her favorite ship.  But I can see it not being for everyone.  When we went last summer, you didn't book times.  It was first come first served.  I think now you book a time.  You found it empty on your cruise?
One common comment about The Key is the Disembarkation breakfast.  Seems to be very positive feedback.

My wife and I went on our first cruise ever this past July on Symphony  and we got the key at the same price. Since we wanted internet I thought it was a no brainer.  Also got the DBP for$49pp.
We have a May cruise on Harmony and the key is currently priced at $37.99 and the dbp is $65pp. No way at those prices!!!
Gotta keep stalking the cruise planner I guess.

Good morning from.... somewhere in the Pacific!
If It weren't so chilly, I'd swear we were on our way to some tropical island!

So let me go back in time a bit here and talk about boarding.  Pier 91 seemed very organized and efficient.  We hailed a Lyft from our hotel around 9:30 and were at the port in about 10 minutes.  We passed the throngs of sad-that-their-cruise-ended passengers, dropped our bags off with the porter and waited for Polly and Sheri to arrive.  We followed the signs for the key priority check-in where we showed our passports as well as our seapasses to the attendants.  They scanned everything in with Ipads, took our picture and put a check in complete sticker on our seapasses.  We were then sent upstairs and bypassed the larger check-in line where we were ushered to our priority seating area which was a combined space for Pinnacles, Diamond Plus, Suites and Key members.  At around 10:45, the ship was cleared for new passengers.  They called the suites first, and I think maybe a few people got up, then right after they called for everyone else in the priority area to board.  We weren't the first people on the ship, but it was close!
After boarding, we immediately went to a specialty restaurant to make our reservations for the 3 night package.  We chose Jamie's Italian, Wonderland and Chops, starting with Jamies on night 2.
Having been onboard Ovation's sister ship, the Anthem last year, we already had the lay of the land, and she felt really familiar. I also realized that I wasn't taking as many pictures as usual due to the familiarity, so I need to step up my picture game starting today!  We went up to the Solarium where I had my first drink of the day, the Kraken lava flow!

After a bit, we headed down to deck 3 where key members were able to drop their carry-ons and get their key letters which contained the wifi access codes.  Right after, they welcomed us to lunch in The Grande dining room where they served a special Chops lunch menu for key members only.
No pictures, unfortunately, but I ordered the filet, Polly ordered the Branzino, and everyone else ordered burgers.  You really can't beat that Chops filet (although I know @Lovetocruise2002 would beg to differ).
Next, we went to the opposite side of the ship to show Polly and Sheri Two70.   I think the Solarium and Two70 have to be my favorite spots on Quantum class ships.
We got the call that our rooms were ready at around 1:30 PM, so we headed up shortly after to take a look.  Our luggage wasn't there when we arrived, but as we were leaving to do some more exploring I spotted it down the hall clustered with a lot of other bags, so I went down and grabbed them.
The rest of the afternoon was spent exploring the ship, experiencing the different venues complete with a visit to my friends, the robotic bartenders Mix and Mingle

After a few more drinks and a visit to Sorrentos for a pre-dinner slice of pizza, we headed up to the rooms to unpack before dinner.
Here's a view from our balcony of the coastline:

Dinner tonight was in the MDR, and of course they offered the standard night one menu:

I can't recall what everyone else got, but I went with @Matt's suggestion from our last cruise and got the spaghetti bolognese!  It did not disappoint.

After dinner, more exploring. Hearing a live cover band in the music hall (didn't catch the name) we stopped in for a listen.  They were pretty good!

At 10 PM, there was an Adults only comedy show featured in the Royal Theatre, so we decided to go, hoping to further acclimate to the time difference.  No offense to the comedian, (he was actually pretty good) but I was nodding off during the show, so clearly, it was time for bed.

Today is a sea day so there should be lots of good activities around the ship.

Formal nights always take longer than casual nights in the main dining room. I've also found that smaller tables have a quicker turn around time than larger tables
