One thing I  got out of the article:
Three things the virus does not like: 1. Sunlight, 2. Temperature, and 3. Humidity,"
therefore, cruising to the Caribbean is the thing to do! ??

There is a Facebook group that I belong to for my sailing.. originally the boat was sold out... and as of yesterday- someone in the group counted over 500 rooms available.. Yes, I said counted... She actually sat there and did a mock booking to see how many rooms were available. LOL

Unfortunately, the time of year we go- kids sale free doesnt apply. We go during spring break so we do not have to use vacation time from work. I wish though!

I found this. not sure if it is valid.. worth checking into.
You can make ship-to-shore calls from your stateroom, 24 hours a day. The cost is $7.95 USD per minute and will be automatically charged to your SeaPass account.
Your friends and family can contact the ship by calling (888) 724-7447. Or from outside the U.S. they can call (321) 953-9003. The cost is $7.95 USD a minute and can be charged to their MasterCard® or Visa®. From outside the U.S. additional long distance charges will also apply.
You can also use our onboard Internet Cafés, stateroom Internet connection, or Hot Spots to send an e-mail to your friends or family for a minimal fee.

You will be spoiled with a suite! I know I am. My mom took me on a cruise for my graduation/birthday/mother-daughter trip-- and we got grand suite to celebrate... when we booked our next cruise, we originally booked a balcony room but then sat down with NextCruise and was like- oh heck, why not- we upgraded to a suite again... and now on our 3rd cruise together, you guessed it- we are in a suite (to celebrate my 40th bday). We seem to always find some "excuse" to book a suite. LOL
Next year, my mom and I are taking a cruise with my 6 yr old and 10 yr old... and we will have to down grade. The cost of a suite for the 4 of us is just too much... so we will have to down grade to balcony rooms... We couldnt find an "excuse" to book a suite for that trip LOL

Somehow they knew it was my bday and they sang to me and gave me dessert.
You could always decorate the room with a little something. Go to the Dollar Store and get a few things.. and get magnetic clips- most of the room is metal ?

I have not personally done it but I saw someone else posted the same question. I think they said  that it wasnt a hands on thing. You watched the person make it, learned how to make it and then given the recipe.

Here is the post that I was referring to ?
"We did the Guac class on Harmony on the 1/26/20 sailing just a few weeks ago. We booked three of us, including our son, who LOVES guacamole. We were a bit disappointed to find out that the class isn't participation at all, it's basically a demonstration. No one from the class will actually make guac, you'll watch the waiter at your table make it, and then they give you the recipe to take home after. You do get all the guac, a great meal and a margarita out of it, so for the fee it's still worth it in that sense. Had I paid more attention to the description I probably would have known this going in to it, so I don't blame Royal at all, we had just hoped it was something different and didn't realize it.  "

Our younger daughter will be graduating from college in May and our older daughter has been teaching middle school in London for the last 2 years.  With the prospect of having both girls working to establish their respective careers in both the US and UK, this summer seemed like the last time that we could vacation as a family in the foreseeable future.   So last summer we booked Allure out of Barcelona for a Mediterranean cruise as kind of a last hurrah.
At the time of booking, it was evident that this would be a relatively expensive endeavor since Allure would be recently AMPed, we would need to arrange for three trans-Atlantic flights, hotels reservations in Barcelona for both pre- and post-cruise site seeing and we would be traveling at peak season in July 2020.  But bite the bullet and pay the fare.  We did.  Yesterday, I did a mock booking for our cruise and was surprised to see that current pricing was significantly below what we had paid.  In part, this was because a senior discount (yes, I'm old) and a Resident discount was available that had not been applied to our initial booking.
Bottom line, a call to RCI to inquire resulted in a re-calculation of our reservation.  Not only were the discounts applied but the current BOGO60 and several other current sale discounts were added that reduced our costs by almost $1500.00.  Excursions and drink packages, here we come.....!   ?  My lucky day!
    Barca, here we come!!

I completely know the feeling of your whole post- I am about 40 days out for my mother/daughter cruise... and then we have booked another cruise for March 2021 with my 9yr old and 5yr old. My 5yr old asks me almost every day-- mom, how many more days until we go on our cruise? I hate to break her little heart when I say- 400+ days out LOL It will be worth the wait though. She will be 7 by then and my son will be 11. These will be great memories!

...and Dad's. I am married with 2 boys. I do all the cooking for my family, as my wife is a Nurse and doesn't get home till later than us. I am looking forward to doughnuts, bagels, fruit and COFFEE delivered to my room EVERY MORNING, no meal prep (i cook my personal meals for the entire week) on Sunday,  and no nightly dinners for the family, followed by the DISHES! Its the small things...ill worry about being back to Mr. Mom post cruise.
