We are going on a New England/Canada cruise in October on the Vision of the seas. They dropped Bar Harbor due to capacity limitations and added an overnight at St John, New Brunswick. What is there to do there besides the Bay of Fundy?  I was really looking forward to Acadia National Park!

A masked day on a cruise ship is better than an unmasked day at home ?

Can I just say how TIRED I am of the debate?  Wear a mask, don’t wear a mask, vaccinate, don’t vaccinate.  We aren’t convincing anyone to change their stance here. Can’t we talk about chair hogs and proper attire????

Except, that's not what we're talking about here - just masks, and the idea of having to wear them intermittently on a vacation. Everything else you've mentioned is irrelevant when it comes to face mask protocols in particular on a cruise ship. In this case, it IS just a mask. You still get to cruise. You can still have a very enjoyable time. If someone really thinks it will ruin their vacation they I guess they don't have to cruise. I'm double vaxxed, and don't think I need to be wearing a mask, but I will still respect a business' rule. Again, it is a minor inconvenience in the grand scheme of things. If it's any more than that, don't go until the rule changes.

Well I did call Royal Caribbean and according to the customer service representative, the cruise is still happening. They are hoping that by October Canada will allow cruising.  

I never received an email about canceling. I just received an email in Feb stating that they were looking at different options. I will have to call. 
 

I absolutely understand your position for not wanting the vaccine and respect it. I have family on both sides of the issue and have an appreciation for each decision.
However, you can't necessarily discount the age of the vaccine as a reason for not getting it. If everyone said in 2006, 2007 that the shingles vaccine was only a year old, and who knows what it would do, and then they refused to get it, and no one ever received it, how could you get the data 10 years later to know that it turned out safe and then you'd decide to receive it? Somewhere along the line enough people have to accept it to provide that data, right? It's kind of the chicken or the egg, and we all have the right to choose which one we are, and we'll see how it works out! 
And with that, as a business, Royal has that same right to determine that what they find the safest alternative, for the greatest good, is best for their business, then so be it. So we can all make the choice now, but we all have to respect the others' decisions, whatever they may be. Unfortunately, if your choice not to doesn't align with Royal's decision to require it, that's just the consequence of it. Either way, best of health and luck to you and all of us!

We have been using the RC credit card for several years now. We use the OBC option and it has paid for a lot of shore excursions and beverage packages. The extra OBC also gives us more freedom to purchase some things onboard that we may not of budgeted for.
