I’m a bit underwhelmed with the news of the Allure coming back. As a Texan whose home port is Galveston, I was expecting a ship fitting the glory of our new terminal.

As the 4th largest cruise terminal in North America, I was hoping for the Wonder or a Quantum, or Quantum Ultra-Class.

Agreed, it seem, it would have been more fitting, to have newer release as their primary ship, doing 7 itineraries, as well as the occasional 6 or 8 day itineraries. Leave the short 3-5 day itineraries, in Florida, to the more aged; but amped, Oasis & Allure otS. The business concept appear backwards to me. To garner more fans of cruising, to the Galveston port, with shiny new terminal, I would think Royal would put its best feet forward, with the likes of Utopia, Wonder, or even Odyssey. And, as you say about the Western Caribbean not being one of the more exciting destinations, a newer ship, with all the latest techno toys, would do 'Wonders', pun intended, in elevating that market even more.

Totally agree with you TX CP. 👍🏼

What I like about the Esplanade on Quantum class is that I can bypass it and walk above it looking down into the Esplanade by using deck 5.  You are not stuck fighting your way through as the only means to move forward and aft like you are on Voyager, Freedom and Oasis class Promenades.  T-shirt sale on the Promenade?  Forget it, take an elevator to the pool deck to go forward.  At least on Q class I can use deck 5 on port or starboard, by way of the rarely used Bionic Bar or the Wonderland side to walk above the t-shirt sale.

I really wish the Promenade on other classes had an interior walkway one deck above the Promenade like Quantum class do.  Great for people watching.  Great for events like parades.

The Schooner Bar on Q class is disappointing since there are no windows.

I agree with everything stated, sorely needed on Oasis Class. It can be engineered in, I doubt it will ever happen. However, the bold/underline speaks volumes...I have thought of this many times as I'm cutoff from moving further on Oasis Class.

Also, agree on Schooner Bar...one of the more soothing/relaxing aspect of the bar, during the mid part of the day, is looking out into vastness....which is none & void on Quantum class. It's like Schooner Bar tucked away in a grand closet....that the give & take off Quantum class ship. As much as like this class of ship, there are some tweaks I wish could be made...but your analysis is spot on, imo.

Maybe they will change Jamie’s Italian into a Giovanni’s Kitchen but I don’t see any major chances, especially as Odyssey is still very similar in design and features apart from Playmakers in the seaplex.

I think Playmakers location would better serve all Quantum Class ships, if it was located where Jamie's Italian & Vintages. Make that whole area Playmakers; would very easily alleviate some foot traffic/crowd in the Promenade.

Across from that, swap Tiffany & Co./Bvlgari to the 5th deck promenade or remove it all together and replace it with Spotlight Karaoke.

    Turn Wonderland into Giovanni's

Hopefully bionic bar is canned, otherwise we will lose the champagne bar to it.

It’s nice to have some variety between Oasis ships.

I certainly agree about the Bionic Bar... it's a waste much like Wonderland was on other Oasis Class ships. However, I think it's time for a modern update to the Champagne Bar... not necessarily doing away with it, refresh the look and feel, yes; but, make it a more multi-use venue, at Certain Times of the day. Have a portable jumbotron(~130" to 150" screen, comprise of 9 smaller screens inserted together forming one unison screen) whereas the cruise director can have a mix of fun pay or free games like "Deal or No Deal, Yes/No Game, Guess, Bingo, any number of interactive passenger participating games, etc... not all in one day mind you, just one or two choice games per day, spread out over the course of the cruise. Maybe three games, on sea days, all between the noon to twilight hours.

Variety is not necessarily essential; but, surely appreciable on ships within the same class. So, each venture, on any number of ships within the same class, offer a unique experience, from a different perspective. For an example: install Blaster Aqua Coaster & Riptide on Allure of the Seas vs the typical traditional water slides we see on Oasis, Harmony, & Symphony. Another example: Modernize Johnny Rockets by opening the inside up, add some tv screens both inside & out, creating more seating for those to watch any variety of sport games or just turn it into a Playmakers, that sits on both sides of the Boardwalk or make it a Bamboo Club, like on Navigator. I spend a lot of time on the Boardwalk, and Johnny Rockets is fairly empty all day. My same experience on Anthem, with slightly better traffic because it's located on the pool deck. Would love to see Jazz on 4, located in Central Park... maybe call it Jazz on 8. A cascading pool in the Solarium, like on Anthem. These are just a few ideas, I would love to see, that obviously & probably, will never happen.

That dry slide is such a waste of money and space so I am hoping they eliminate that from the old list.

I certainly agree with WaayTooo assessment on reason why Ultimate Abyss will be installed on the Allure of the Seas; however, I couldn't agree more with your(Mike n Ky) sentiment. I think a roller-tracked Zipline, that venture off both back sides, diagonally, of the ship(like racers), briefly over the sea, back in towards the Boardwalk, a number of cabins deep into & over said Boardwalk, to its current ending point, using an applied braking system. This, imo, would be a much more thrilling & fun attraction, while attracting more traffic to both areas of the ship(Deck 16 & 6). Get more repeat adventures... as proof, the current rendition of the zipline onboard now, which appear to very, very popular, constantly in operation, despite the short length & very quick duration, of the attraction.

The China market is untapped potential and RCCL definitely wants to compete.  I wouldn't be surprised to see Wonder wander off even before Oasis 7 is done.

Also, given the current demand a lot of Vision itineraries could be dropped for larger ships (shift Voyager in and replace Voyagers with Oases).  Everything is sort of cyclical, Oasis will be the new Voyager class (which really has 8 ships since Freedom/Liberty/Independence are pretty much just stretched Voyagers) and Voyager will replace vision.  Eventually Quantums will replace Radiance.

The question is how to fit Voyager and Quantum into the places that Vision and Radiance go now.  As far as home ports go my memory is the two tricky ones are Tampa and Baltimore? I am sure Discovery will come along eventually but I suspect it will be closer in concept to Quantum than Vision.

I would love to see something like that...imagine a Voyager Class ship, porting out of New Orleans.

With what RCCL just did I won’t be surprised if they bring Voyager back. Yesterday was such a disappointing start to my day. I was so excited to see what kind of prices I could find on Symphony or Wonder just to realize we’re getting allure 😭 Not to sound ungrateful or anything but I seriously was expecting something new especially with Carnival Jubilee, MSC Seascape and Norwegian Prima (Which swaps with Viva in 2025). At the same time though I shouldn’t have been to expectant about Symphony coming to Galveston. It would’ve only done 2 summer seasons out of Cape Liberty and I don’t know exactly how long an oasis class stays on there but I know it’s longer than 2 summers (If anyone knows please tell me I would appreciate it). Who knows? Maybe next year when they release 2026-27 itineraries maybe Symphony will be ready for a swap to Galveston? Usually they keep an oasis class in Galveston down here in Galveston for a couple years and Allure already has a year worth of sailings from last year. I guess we will find out soon.

You know, I understand how you feel... my gut, Allure was always going to be the ship of choice by RCG, to home port in Galveston, pre-covid. unfortunately, covid happened, and Allure never got amp, as work continued on the new terminal. Nowadays, I really prefer RCG concentrate on paying debt accumulated (not previous pre-covid debt) during covid... the number of loans they incur, trying to keep operating... before continuing with new build, not already scheduled, again, pre-covid. Pause for a few years, complete existing projects that had been delayed, because of covid, to stabilize cost & fares, in a very fluid, unstable, global economy, where supply chains are being reorganized & rethought. I fear that companies (not just RCG) are cannibalizing itself, that will lead to more price hikes, for less services, then what passengers already face. So, I don't mind as much, that an amped Allure will make a return to Galveston... she may not come alone, as Royal continue to saturate the Florida markets. However, I gotta say, although I know it will viewed as contradictory... but if RCG going to invest in new build... oh how much I would love to see them invest in a Private Resort area, in the central Mexico coastal area and maybe work with Corpus Christie (city/county/state) to enhance an entertainment district for a cruise stop, to add new destination to the extreme Western Caribbean itinerary. I Can Not Stress This Enough!

I actually wondered about that as well, but I imagine there's a cost and health factor in having outdoor seating en masse that can get soaked at any time. Just imagine the cleaning costs!

I get what you're saying; but, not talking about cloth cushion seats... more like fake leather/plastic/rubber like cushions.

Also, I know they are not going to remove one of the two Florida's, like on Wonder/Utopia; yet, I wished they would have a little more forward thinking and either replace one of the Florida's with a kids Splash Away Bay & turn the current SAB into another general use pool... or replace a Flowrider with an Infiniti Pool. Imagine the great views from the back corner of the ship at sea or at Port, from within the pool.

  9. You know, the one thing I certainly wish would happen, although I know it won't is padded seats/benches at the Aqua Theater. Just saying, sometimes during the early to mid part of the day, that's a great area to just sit & relax, read a book or watch the twin jumbotrons, maybe with cocktail in hand, and just take in the ambience, of the atmosphere..... on padded seating.
