Quick update on the ability to cancel for a cash refund on these cruises.
So far, indications are that they will honor a cash refund on all 8 of our cruises through 3-31-22.  Since some of them are casino bookings @michelleis having to go through them to facilitate the refunds but we have no indication that they won't refund in cash so it's looking good.
I really hate having to cancel all of these bookings - many of them are Empress L&S and were dirt cheap but that's just the way it is.
So I'm taking my money while I can.  If, by some miracles, vax protocols change between now and then I will rebook if I feel so inclined. Once we fall off the casino program as Prime members we will have no real reason to stay with Royal Caribbean exclusively.  We'll be free agent then !

My cruise planner items have been alternating between (2) sets of prices for the last 3-4 months. Each pricing seems to last a couple weeks then reverts to the other. Right now they're showing the higher prices but I expect they'll go down to the lower set soon. Hoping for even lower prices during the Black Friday sale!

I recall reading about a similar situation once where the ex-girlfriend, out of spite, cancelled the reservation b/c she was still officially on it and could cancel.  I totally agree....if there is any chance that someone could cancel the reservation, get that person's name OFF of the reservation....and adding a new "ghost" passenger is the way to keep the booking from repricing.

I've seen the opposite.  Quest veterans that come with a bag of just about anything the quest has asked for before.  An old bra, a comb, a cruise compass, a shoe lace, etc. etc. etc.  

Current on the Independence and did something new for this cruise.  Packed some good root beer.  Went to the soft serve ice cream machine and had them fill half a cup with ice cream added the root beer and a shot of Kracken from the bar.  Magic drink...

I understand your frustration, as we had the same issue with our two-year-old daughter on our Alaska cruise in September. That said... they've made it abundantly clear for a while now that unvaccinated passengers couldn't leave the ship except for on RCL excursions. However, as @SpeedNoodles said, protocols are changing month to month, so that may not be the case by February - no one really knows for sure.

We were booked for 03/15/2020 when everything shut down on 03/13...
Probably had 4 Cruises booked and cancelled in the down time...

Thank you for all of your help on the queries I had for the cruise with my mum. We had a fab time! She’s telling everyone how she’s got a new lease of life since the cruise which is great to hear. Shows what a holiday after 17 years can really do for you!
Anyway, I’m now on to the next one, which is Alaska with my fiancé (that happened this month too on another holiday, so first time I’ve used that!) 😁 and after that we have a cruise with my partner and his family. 
My question for all of you knowledgeable cruisers relates to the Alaska cruise. This one is in May and I need to book flights. It departs from Vancouver and ends in Seattle. Would you recommend booking flights on my own or via Royal’s air2sea? I’m mindful of the issues with cruises out of Canada due to Covid and the possibility that it could effect my cruise, hence why I’ve put it off for so long.
Can someone also please share the Royal air2sea link? I seem to have lost it.

@NancyL2648  Check to make sure…but I believe final payment dates have been changed to 30 days prior to your cruise. So your final payment date should be the end of Dec… Even if you paid in full already, you should still get a refund to your credit card.

Ours was about $90pp for our last cruise with Allianz' TripAssist Choice Plan. We typically only put the value of the non-refundable items (mostly just cruise fare & flights). We book refundable pre-cruise hotels and shore excursions/ cruise planner items are generally cancel-able so there isn't much else that we might need to be reimbursed for.

I've purchased an Allianz policy for our last cruise. Booked it through AAA which was slightly discounted than through their own website.

The redemption rules are awful for those  certificates. I don't recommend them at all.

Yeah, why not just buy her the refreshment package for unlimited juice/soda/mocktails? Take her drink vouchers and get your drinks off those, and save yourself some cash. Even if you went over by a couple drinks, it'd still be cheaper than a full package for yourself.

And depending on the ship/ activity, I believe you can sign the waivers via the TV in your stateroom
