It's not a matter of knowing that coffee was hot. It was about it being too hot to be safe. And McDonald's admitted that was the case.
The most damaging testimony against McDonalds actually came from its own quality assurance manager who testified that McDonalds required their restaurants to keep the coffee pot temperature at 185 degrees. He admitted that a burn risk existed for any food (or drink) served at over 140 degrees and that the coffee poured into the cups was not yet fit for consumption since it was well above that temperature. Burns to the mouth and throat would occur if the consumer would drink the coffee at that temperature. He also stated that McDonalds had no plans to reduce the temperature of its coffee.

I'm sorry this is wrong. Not calling you out in particular since this is a huge misconception across the country.
McDonald's was absolutely negligent in how they served their coffee.

The 79 year-old victim suffered third degree burns on her legs and genitals which required extensive surgery to repair because McDonald's served coffee at over 190 degrees. They also knew that this was a problem because before this case they had already received over 700 reports of burns due to hot coffee. They didn't even deny they knew this was dangerous in the case! Yet they continued to serve it at near boiling temperatures.
In addition the victim didn't want to file a lawsuit. She only wanted her medical expenses paid. McDonalds refused and only offered her $800. Her lawsuit was for those expenses only but the jury thought McDonald's was so negligent that they awarded her even more.
So how did it end up that everyone in America thinks she was greedy because she got some lukewarm coffee on her? McDonald's funded a misinformation campaign that the media bought into and spread to everyone. Corporations have used this fake story to keep people with real injuries from pursuing damages for fear they might be considered in the same way this woman was. Don't fall for McDonald's lies.

I hate to break this to you but the food on the ship isn't free either. And I don't mean the specialty restaurants. It's all included in your fare.
Now as to your question about percentage of fee food at Coco Cay, I think it's only the chicken wings at the one restaurant/bar. So my rough guess is 1%?
And you must have forgotten all the added cost activities at the old Coco Cay. An hour on the inflatable water toys cost more than a day at the new water park.
Back on topic: I think they eventually will refresh Labadee. And it seems with the South Pacific island they announced that they are not directly cloning Coco Cay. So I have hope that Labadee will be unique.
I remember a rumor a while ago about a pirate theme for it. I think that could be cool.

I had one last year. Booked it only for myself online. My family and I were all able to use it (4 total). Quick tip: be sure to bring the ticket from your room to the bungalow or you might have trouble claiming it. Luckily my mom remembered to bring it after I forgot.
This must come up a lot because I had a letter in my room on the first day telling me to go to guest services if I had booked too many Bungalows. There was a second follow up letter later. I only ever booked just one.

I think most of the prices being shown are near full price. Royal just came off that week long planner sale at the start of August so not many people are getting the low rates right now. For example my October Mariner 4 night went up from $49 during the sale to $65 now. They didn't jack up the regular price this week. It is just not being discounted.
If your sailing is still far out keep looking for the price to drop again. It likely will.

MSC (the shipping company that owns the cruise line) was founded in Italy in 1970 but moved to Geneva in 1978.
Lauro Lines (the line that became MSC Cruises) was also Italian but it was purchased by MSC in the 80s and is now based in Geneva too.

It seems that the lawyer is smartly taking the only path that could be a good result for the family: winning the publicity war and forcing Royal to settle to keep the family quiet.
The lawyer likely knows that if he took this case to court a victory is not a sure thing. Proving the cruise line was negligent by having a window open is a long shot (as everyone here has been saying). The criminal investigation is still ongoing and at best what will come of that is the police call it an accident. Worst case they charge the grandfather with something. The police are unlikely to say anything that would hurt Royal.
So while the story is still fresh have the family make the rounds and get their story out there hoping that public opinion will be enough to force a settlement.

Interestingly it doesn't show cabins in the former Diamond Club space like Oasis. It also has an unchanged Adventure Ocean with no cabins at the front of deck 14.
A change from Oasis? Or an oversight on the part of the deck plan artist?

A quick search shows that the RV story is completely fake. It never happened. It's been repeated over the years with the details changed every time. Just another example of how fake stories like this and the coffee make people think that Americans shouldn't seek out justice from corporations that are negligent.

Was Royal negligent by having a small open window on the 11th deck? Probably not IMO.  But if the family thinks they can prove they were it is their right as Americans to seek justice through the court system.
