Thank you for the refreshing look at Nassau.  I am one of the recent Nassau-bashers and I thank you for reminding me that there ARE a lot of interesting and worthwhile things there.  I particularly liked the Pirate Museum.  That looks like fun.  ...and I had forgotten how really beautiful Atlantis is.  It has been many years since we visited Atlantis and I enjoyed your visit there.

Ummm, what does your astrological sign have to do with coping skills? I mean, I'm an Aquarius and learning all about this stuff scratches my sign's "gotta learn it all" itch, but it doesn't really help with the waiting for the next embarkation.
And I still can't figure out how one "retires" from their Sun Sign... ??

For 6 people try a rental house for the night on a site like airbnb.  I've had great success with those.

TSA precheck is 85 dollars. Some credit cards cover the cost as a benefit so check yours. A freind of mine went last Monday and had his precheck number by Friday. Normal turn around time they said is 7 business days.

Talk to your cabin attendant.  Also an extra gratuity goes a long way.    As far as T.S.A. goes.   T.S.A. pre  check is  great to have.

I'm on dog shift, too. Usually 10 hour (9pm-7am), but we're so understaffed that it's often 14 hours (or on my supposed weekends).  I've got Free Cell down to a science.

I've seen plenty of annoying non-Pinnacle suite guests in the lounge.
I swear if I ever make it to Pinnacle I'm not going to wear the badge but do things to annoy the entitled Pinnacles.  When they complain I'll whip out my SeaPass card like a trump card ?

I was on the Grandeur cruise last year that started two days late because of the rudder issue that kept in in Canaveral for repairs and still got the full amount of C&A points for the cruise I booked. (I received 9 points for the cruise that was shortened to 7 nights.) So, I'm sure the passengers will the points they booked for as well.

Also see if your phone allows WiFi calling. Some carriers/phones allow it.  It would be in your settings under carrier.  You can try it at home first to see if it works by putting your phone in airplane mode.

@mom2mybugs Jane--I think I solved your problem. You can even make it a group cruise with @Lovetocruise2002 @Sweety @twangster @Boston Babe @tonyfsu21 etc. And since it's so long, you'll need @JLMoran to relieve @twangster on photography duty.

Pro tip - The beverage coolers (not fridges) are usually contained within a cabinet.  In many cases that cabinet traps the warm air coming off the cooler and prevents the cooling appliance from actually doing much cooling.  .  Propping the door to the cabinet open allows the warm air to escape and the cooler maintains a much cooler temperature as a result.  I use a wash cloth from the bathroom, double over and hung over the cabinet door to keep it from closing but also to keep it from swinging should there be any motion due to waves..
Sadly on newer ships the cooler door is sometimes fixed to the cabinet door so the cooler opens when the cabinet door is opened.  This technique doesn't work on these ships since holding the cooler door open defats the potential advantages.  On older ships though this technique will yield a much cooler beverage cooler.

There is nearly always the possibility of seeing marine life such as whales as long as its daylight.  Unlike a Caribbean cruise where soon after leaving port is is just an endless ocean around you, the reverse its true for Alaska cruises - there is typically some land to be seen and scenery.
Cruises out of Seattle do have some ocean time the first day or two but that is also prime whale watching time.  It's not like they are constantly around you, you just never know when a pod of whales might come into sight.  Some of my best pictures came from hanging around outside while others where in bars and theaters missing it all.  In that sense I place much less emphasis on trying to catch the shows on Alaska cruises.

9 is fine. I'm just happy I don't have to be out by 7:30.  It'll probably take 4 hours to get through airport TSA anyway, assuming they still exist in February.
