I just logged into my Cruise Planner, and after a few minutes a survey popped up.  I hope they pay attention! (It's a survey about the entire website, not necessarily just the Cruise Planner portion).

SpeedNoodles reacted to Baked Alaska in Odd Booking Question
Since you haven't booked yet, I would suggest contacting MEI, the sponsor of this website, and work with a travel agent. The last thing you want to do is bugger something up and your friend from Sweden can't go, or they can go and the other three can't due to some passport/residency verification issue. Showing up at port and being denied boarding would suck. . . Royally! I would suggest @Sharla or @Jacki_MEI. Hope this helps.

We never carry our phones around on the ship but carrying a phone around would be a small price to pay if that's what it takes.
I also agree that having brave souls go before us is very helpful...and from what I can see/hear, it seems to be going well.
I was very VERY happy to read that they were only requiring masks on land. That is a HUGE deal, if you ask me !

SpeedNoodles got a reaction from Baked Alaska in Southwest to serve Miami year round
I found Miami to be fine if flying in on Delta.  Flying in and out on SunCountry was nothing short of awful.  Their gate was at the most remote, least maintained part of the terminal.  There was no TSA precheck at security for that part of the terminal.  There was almost no seating at the gate (most of us were sitting on the floor or standing around).  We swore never again to Miami (although in reality it's never again on SunCountry because they get shitty gates).

    Positive news for sure.
I also saw similar posts and boy do I hope they are right.  Until official I've now instructed the dog to cross his claws in addition to me crossing my fingers and toes.  The dog didn't look pleased.

The only downside of MIA vs. FLL is that FLL is an easy airport.
Some my longest airport walks have occurred at MIA.  The hike to the car rental center is basically an expedition that should come with bottles of water, a box meal and a guide.

I've always thought this was a smart business play.  In seat TV's on airplanes cost significantly up front and add to the weight of the aircraft.  Planes fly millions of miles over their lifetime and every extra pound carried costs money.  On the surface this doesn't seem like a thing but over millions of miles it adds up.
Meanwhile people bring smart devices with them.  This is weight that is going to be carried no matter what is said or done.
SWA provides access to content stored on the plane VIA WiFi that can be watched on your smart device.  You can also watch live TV channels and they offer free messaging to the ground.  This is all free.
When I fly on a plane with in seat entertainment and the person behind me is nailing the screen to play pacman it drives me crazy, like a kid kicking my seat all flight long.  For international flights it's one thing since they have in seat remote buttons to play games, but for shorter domestic flights I'm totally good saving money and using my own device that I have with me anyways.
Plus the Southwest effect is real!  Just look at Hawaii.  Seriously, I know Delta tracks SWA prices and adjusts flights prices based on them.  I've seen it time and again.
But I get it, coming from Mr. "Miami is too far.  I can only cruise from Tampa or Canaveral".  🙂

I see some direct nonstop from MSP to FLL in January as an example.  $120 one way, $240 round trip.  The non-stops on Delta start at twice that.  Suncountry is $40 cheaper but charges for bags.
Add EBCI (early bird check in) and you'll sit with hubby every time.  With no bag fees you'll likely still be ahead.
Before starting to fly SWA the lack of seat reservations was a thing for me but once I started flying them it turned out to be not the thing I feared.

I'm kind of jealous of those of you who can fly SouthWest (it flies from  Mpls, but it goes almost nowhere).  The other thing that always concerns me is seating.  I HAVE to sit next to my husband because he's a nervous flyer.  I'm very uncomfortable not being able to choose our seats.

Thanks all for the replies. USCG Teacher and RoyalMoyal, thank you for the resources. SpaceNoodles you are absolutely right, they are clearly on the deckplan on the web page. Except I was looking at the deckplan you get when picking a cabin for booking, which does not include the tick marks. Then I used a couple other resources I have used for years and they didn't have the checkmarks either. I just double checked and sure enough, the ticks are on the deck plan when you go through the RCL main page, but if you go to book a cruise the tick marks are not there. Odd that they don't use the same deck plans. But if had searched better I would have found it. *facepalm*
    Thank you again.

Though this blog is the one place I go to get real info, I do follow and see chatter elsewhere. Yesterday I saw  a few posts fro people who supposedly have friends in the game that were asked to be ready to come back late this month and early next month. Normally I dismiss stuff I have no way to verify but two of the reports came from people who got crew departures correct some time back. I made mention a few weeks ago when I booked another spring run I was making small talk about upcoming cruises likely to cancel. The agent was probably the very best I ever had  the pleasure of dealing with. She was adamant that my Harmony in November would be sailing... Who knows... The extensions will eventually end . First trips will eventually happen. I see no reason that we can't be at that crossroad now????

That probably has some other safeguards in play, like making sure an adult doesn't book a cabin for high school or college kids to party in.
A cabin attendant on Anthem told me a story about some college kids partying on a previous ship in the past.  At one point these kids decided that anything not bolted down should be thrown overboard including the mattress.  It was an especially sobering experience when they got the bill.  You have to figure for the next cruise they had to accommodate the next guests into another cabin.
I imagine that cruise lines, like hotels, have no shortage of stories about 19 year olds.  Best to make absolutely sure that a credit card carrying adult is on board with them.

Labor Day or not someone should answer the number on the back of the card, 24/7/365(6).
I would call the CC and see what happened with the transaction, if they never received it, glitch on RCL side, if they did you'll know why it was refused.
    Good Luck!

Thanks for posting this. I am hoping that they will let us do that, namely walk off the ship and head over to Red Fish Blue Fish. Given the time of day Quantum gets into port, DS and his buddy could go on their fishing excursion and DH and I can go eat fish at RFBF! I've just put it on my CP calendar!

When we retire we plan to build as well (again).  As much as we'd love to be able to cruise frequently year round without flying, neither of us would survive Florida.  We'll just have to take a lot of Alaskan cruises and ride the ferries a lot!
