SpeedNoodles got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Labadee rumors
I guess my take on it is that I wouldn't expect there to be any news. It's not in a populated part of Haiti, so it's really not Haitian news. Royal is deciding not to go, so it's not being turned away by Haiti. It's not really very interesting, from a news standpoint.

SpeedNoodles reacted to Ray in Uniform policy on comp. for cancelled ports?
Not sure how its worked out
But one thing im sure of is that if you get 1 missed port at start of cruise you're just going to be thinking about what refund you get if another port is missed rest of cruise, is it really worth worrying about?

I just do a screen shot of the pass, paste it into a Word document, and print that page. Easy.

SpeedNoodles got a reaction from jticarruthers in Covid testing
Crew are tested regularly, and probably most of the positive cases are identified that way.
If a passenger feels ill, they are to call the medical unit on board and they will be scheduled to go down to the medical facility to test. If positive, they would only test people with whom that person has had close contact.
"All" of the positive covid tests have equaled about 1% or less of the ships total population (crew and passengers).
As usual, the cruise lines are being held to a standard that is not recognized on land.

SpeedNoodles reacted to MaryCS62 in infant covid protocol
I haven't cruised yet, but I imagine it is the same as having any other non vaccinated child in your party. Under 12 unvaccinated must get tested (PCR), under 2 don't have to wear a mask, and if there are any unvaccinated in the party, all are considered unvaccinated in those instances and may leave the ship only on sponsored excursions.

LOL! Us too... NY is certainly not Minnesota in the winter, but we can't wait to get away!... Sailing on Odyssey on Feb 12... fingers-crossed things will settle down a bit by next month!

You should be able to cancel within 48 hours of the sailing under the Cruise With Confidence program and receive an FCC. If a port is missed, port taxes and fees are refunded. They may inform of port changes prior to sailing, however sometimes they do not know until they dock (as happened last week). Beyond refunding port taxes and fees, they do not own passengers any reimbursement (although sometimes they do, but they aren't required to, per the contract we sign when we book the cruise).
I'm sailing Odyssey on Jan 29. We're totally ok with any port changes. We'd like to go to Aruba and Curacao, but we're also happy just to be away from work and the Minnesota winter.

SpeedNoodles got a reaction from MikeK in Cruising in a Week - some questions
Honestly, I've never lost a mask in the last 18 months. That being said, I always bring plenty so that I'm not wearing a dirty mask after a couple of days.

SpeedNoodles got a reaction from MikeK in Passports in Ports of Call
That's good to know. However, there are places (especially in Mexico - Yucatan Peninsula) where the trip to the embassy is over 6 hours away, so you'd still have to GET there before the paper copy would do any good.

SpeedNoodles got a reaction from MikeK in Passports in Ports of Call
I've never understood what good a copy would do, other than I guess help the consulate issue whatever temporary paperwork you need to go home. You can't fly out of a country with a copy.

It also depends on what category of cabin you have. Not every booking will be eligible for a Royal Up every time.

Have a great cruise, Tony!
Also, why don't more people use the term "poppycock"? It amuses me!

SpeedNoodles reacted to K Lea in Oddessy Blocked from Dock In Curacao?
My son and I were on this cruise. Once we got over the disappointment of not getting to go to Curacao or Aruba, we still had an awesome time. The weather was gorgeous (we're from CT, so spending Dec in 80 degrees was heaven) and CocoCay was fun. The compensation they offered really did make up for it. We were concerned about the growing Covid cases onboard, of course, but since most were the entertainment crew members, we hoped it wouldn't spread too rapidly among the guests. I have since read that testing/quarantining among affected guests wasn't so efficient, so they really need to do a better job when it comes to that. Overall, it was a great Christmas cruise, especially for the price. My feeling is, if we'd vacationed anywhere else, we would've been in the vicinity of just as many Covid-positive people, the only difference is we wouldn't have been aware of it. So it's a matter of not going on a trip at all or knowing the risk. This was our first vacation since before Covid and I was tired of trying to wait it out. I'm glad we went.

SpeedNoodles reacted to Jax in 🎄 🎄Festivus Star Class Miracle - Oasis December 19-26th
Hot tub review
As requested our hot tub was filled on embarkation day. I wasn’t sure what to expect; I had doubts that it was a hot tub. It is not a hot tub, it is a jacuzzi tub so the water needs to be filled for each use and therefore there is no water treatment required. We found that over time the tub will drain itself. By late afternoon on embarkation day the water had drained on its own. I hoped to use it as a plunge pool on a hot day, but we were just too busy to enjoy this feature. Maybe next time.

SpeedNoodles reacted to gomammoth22 in Looking for people that cruised this week!
So far, on Oasis, yes. Everyone wearing masks where needed. Remember everyone, your crew’s livelihood depends on the ability to keep cruising. I hate wearing a mask more than most, but I will not complain once on this cruise.
