  1. Been on 4 cruises now (Freedom out of San Juan in 2018 and 2019, Oasis in 2021 and Adventure first week of July) and I was disappointed in some of the food for the first time on any of the cruises. Ate at Chops which is always great, Main Dining Room and Giovanni’s Table. Giovanni’s had a different menu than the last few times and some offerings were terrific (Gnocchi with Gorgonzola), but others were just OK and the desserts were below par. The Cannoli was the smallest I’ve seen and there were a couple of other options that my family tried that were just bland. I probably would not eat there in the future, didn’t differentiate from the fare in the MDR. In the MDR, some meals were great, and for those who like Indian food, there was at least one Indian food entree on the menu each night. The theme nights were, on average good, but they had a special July 4th menu that was not good. They tried to pass off Corned Beef as brisket with something they called BBQ sauce. I saw at least 4 other people send it back. All in all, I was happy with certain things, but it seems to me that the overall quality of the food was not what it was even a year and a half ago.
  2. We did two previous cruises out of San Juan, both times we just stayed at the Sheraton Old San Juan and took a cab to the port. It is right across the street from the Old San Juan port, but that isn't the one RC uses for embarkation. We arranged the cab ride early and added an extra hour to get to the port - the traffic getting the last couple of miles was really bad. If you choose this option, seek out Finca Cialitos - FANTASTIC coffee. Not a rush in, rush out type of place but well worth it. Also, for breakfast, Chocobar Cortes. Amazing breakfast.
  3. Hello everyone - I just booked a graduation cruise this July for my family and son's girlfriend, one of the stops is Tortola. As it was booked quite close to the departure date compared to our previous cruises, the shore excursion list is limited. For anyone who might know, if we are just wanting to explore Road Town, is the cruise port area relatively built up? Is there a beach within walking distance? Also, has anyone visited the Tola Brewing microbrewery? Any help/guidance that anyone could provide is greatly welcomed. Thank you so much in advance!
  4. We just dealt with that - Sunday is usually the most expensive day to fly & flights are harder to come by (I used to fly out for work about every other Sunday). We just got back this week, with Monday being a holiday it was even worse this last week. We flew home Tuesday and it was about $400 less per ticket. Living in Denver means I can get lots of flight choices, but cost of airfare adds another 20% to the cost of any cruise.
  5. We were at Costa Maya a week ago on Oasis - no issues with disembarking and by that point all shows had been cancelled and they had already mentioned the positivity rate was higher than 1%.
  6. Update - Ice shows cancelled for the remainder of this voyage as well. Down to comedians and musicians. They’re playing movies in the Aqua Theatre this evening.
  7. So far, on Oasis, yes. Everyone wearing masks where needed. Remember everyone, your crew’s livelihood depends on the ability to keep cruising. I hate wearing a mask more than most, but I will not complain once on this cruise.
  8. I did ask - they said it was invalid. Had to be contained in the box. Sounds like their proctors need to be aware of this across the board.
  9. Leaving tomorrow for the Oasis sailing on the 26th. Ordered 4 of the At Home tests knowing that testing on Xmas Eve would be a nightmare. Did first test, no problem. Opened the second one as instructed… no liquid solution. It was empty. Of course there is no possible way to know this ahead of time, since you can’t open until in the testing session. I opened another one to take the test and proceeded. Was furious with myself for not ordering an extra (trusting no one could screw up putting 3 things in a box) and mad about the test protocol since there is NO WAY to know if everything is correct in the test kit. As it turned out, I opened the last of the 4 test kits and it also had an empty solution bottle. Even one extra wouldn’t have been enough. However I recommend to all order at least one extra. I paid $400 out of pocket to get the two other test results I needed.
