Please keep in mind that anytime you see a price it is AFTER all sales and discounts.  If a package is $80 today (even with no apparent sale going on), and tomorrow there is a 50% off sale, do NOT expect to get the package for $40.  It will probably still be $80 with a big 50% off banner (which means they temporarily made the price $160 behind the scenes).  That's just marketing.  Only look at the price that will be charged.

With the exception of our first cruise, we have only ever done My Time Dining and every single time we had the same table and server no matter what time we chose for dinner.  I honestly think they try their best to seat you at least in the same server area if possible, but that is really just my opinion about that.

Also keep in mind that prices for sailings in 2023 have just begun getting released, so they are probably the highest they will be.

Usually the 2nd night...you can look at past Cruise Compasses as a similar itinerary to yours and get an idea...and there may be more than one depending on the length of your cruise.

Breakfast in the MDR is served in just one of the dining rooms…usually the lower deck dining room.  The breakfast is very good with many choices and is typically much more quiet and relaxed than a Windjammer breakfast.

This would have been done when you booked. Your invoice will have your currently assigned time. If you want to change it call RC/your TA

Considering a bottle of water is $3+ with grats, a soda can be $4+ with grats, etc. there won't be any way you are leaving "money on the table." Most packages will pay for themselves before lunch. The main purpose of purchasing a package is to save you the hassle of counting.

If I was going and celebrating MY dad, I'd choose Chops because my dad is a steak guy.  He likes the other type, but he'd choose the classic steak house.  Maybe think about what your dad would prefer.  But either one will be a nice birthday dinner place.  IMO.

We took a cruise the summer before Covid with our 16 year old boys and didn't do any specialty dining.  We ate in the MDR every evening.  Our boys enjoyed dressing a bit nicer, khaki pants, dress pants, button down shirts (you know, instead of basketball shorts and t-shirts, LOL).  And the food was amazing and our server was amazing.
We tend to be foodies on vacations and we have NEVER had a sub-par meal in the MDR.  But I also know that everyone is different and has different expectations for vacations and food.

JennyB reacted to Atlantix2000 in specialty restaurants, confused?
No, you've always been able to make individual reservations (day and time) for specialty restaurants through the Cruise Planner (now called My Royal Cruise).  You can make multiple reservations (at the same or different restaurants) but you'll have to add them one at a time.  This answer applies when you are paying full price (or a sale price) for a specific restaurant.
With any package (3-night, 4-night, unlimited, etc), you MUST make all reservations on the ship.  That's the trade off for the reduced cost of the package.

Go to a past cruise compass for your ship and Itinerary. See what the show times are and what day and time being held.
    Make reservation times accordingly.

IMHO, what needs to stop is worrying about what someone else is wearing.   The guy in board shorts 2 tables away has ZERO impact on my dining experience.  Don’t like what another diner is wearing? Don’t look at them!  Concentrate on your group and your food.  BTW I am a card carrying member of Judgers Anonymous and this is part of my 12 step program 😁

Apologies for the potentially trivial question but I'm curious about this. I'm new to cruising and have heard Windjammer pronounced how it's written but also with a French inflection ("Windjamm-ere").
What is the correct way of saying it?
    Thanks!

For those who have dined here previously, can it still be enjoyable with a shellfish allergy? I react when ingesting not if it just touches a plate. I always say no when it comes to the allergy question because of all of the drama it entails. I have lived with this forever and monitor my meals quite closely without making a production of it. BUT in this case I think with all of the deconstruction going on I might have to tell them, thoughts? My daughter really wants to dine here we have our Lift & Shift 31 July on the Harmony where I have since booked it, I'm thinking just to pick and then go up to #CK later.  @Swar? @Ampurp85 Should I use the allergy as an excuse to skip it?

JennyB reacted to Peter D in How does BOGO work for solo cruisers?
It  requires two nights of specialty dining. I have seen them apply 50% off for two different specialty restaurants or 100% for one and second reservation is free.  The BOGO requires the first reservation on night 1 or night 2, but it might require a solo person to do both night 1 and night 2.  It's best to confirm at one of the specialist dining desks as soon as you board.

Yes, this...and it can be ANY specialty restaurant...but they can then book all of your dinners all at once.
