Not any misfortune here. They chose to miss the ship. People need to be held accountable for their decisions.

I am sorry, but their tears sustain me...I enjoyed the photos and video immensely.

I carry my passport, CC and cash with me off the ship just in case of any emergency comes up.
There is zero possibility of me being mugged at any of these ports as I am and will never be a victim. If you don't look like easy prey they will leave you alone. With me its easy just by the way I look and carry myself.

In the Mediterranean after some research I decided to take the passports with me in every port. In the Caribbean I usually just take my photo ID and leave the passport in the safe.
Funny story on our last cruise in January, I always read the Cruise Compass the night before a port stop to make sure nothing has changed since the last time we visited. In January we were visiting San Juan and it said photo ID required, no big deal I always carry my wallet in case I need cash or a credit card. Well we walked off the ship (Put not the Pier) and I had forgotten and left my wallet in the safe, so I told my wife, we are planning on eating lunch in San Juan so we needed to go back and either get cash or a CC. Good thing I did, because when we were trying to get back on the pier we had to show our photo ID. When we got to the ship all they cared about was our Sea Pass card

But we did joke about being upset Sorrento's wasn't open for a 4am snack. We stayed just up the stairs on deck six and it was our go-to for something small and quick.

Jolly Ogre reacted to tiny260 in Taxi Vans on St Maarten
I was kind of negative (Above comments) about the taxis on St Maarten without any explanation, here is how it went:
We walk through the port to where the taxis are, there is a guy there shuffling people to open taxis, we get to the front of that line (5-10 minuets) and tell the guy we want to go to Maho beach/Sunset Grill, he tells me I don't have a wrist band, OK, where do I get a wrist band, he point to his left, we see another line, we go to the back of that line (5-10 minutes) we get to the front, "where you want to go", Maho beach/Sunset grill, OK, how much, $16PP, the lady slaps a paper orange wrist band on myself and my wife, I have my wallet in my hand, she won't take my money, then another guy is standing behind a little podium, do I pay you, yes, I give him $40 and get my change back, OK, where do I go now, he points back to the other line where I started. Stand in line again, this time only about 5 minutes, again he is shuffling people around trying to squeeze 14 people in a 12 person van. We finely get into a van, we are not sitting together because we were the last 2 in.
30-45 minute drive to Sunset Grill (Bad Traffic), to be fair, there were 4-5 ships in port, even our friend that lives there said it was not normally this chaotic. There was not an empty spot on the beach, it was wall to wall people, standing shoulder to shoulder, no place to actually lay on the beach, this was around 10am because of the length of the drive. To be fair it would probably be nicer with a smaller ship load on the port.
So we have lunch with our friend, now we have to get back, we start asking after we walk out of the grill and everyone is pointing to the right, we walk up say we need a taxi back to the port and again there is a guy shuffling people around, we get to the front of the line (5 minutes) and he is cutting the orange wrist bands off everyone (So don't take yours off), he cuts my wife and I's band off and points to a taxi, well it is completely full, the shuffling guy has already walked off with our bands, so we just stand there, he comes back finely and looks at us, we tell him what happened and he just looks at us, other taxi drivers are screaming at him in the french creole language they use sometimes, finely a taxi pulls up and he points us to it. We get in, again 14 people in a 12 person van. It takes an hour to an hour and 15 minutes to get back to the port (Again, bad traffic), our he will drop you in downtown if you want.
So the good news is the $16PP is round trip, we were never told.
I know I have seen them, but I have never done them, it might be less chaotic if you take the boat excursion that sails around to Maho beach and is just stationed off the beach, you got to see the beach, you are on the flight path of the planes, you would just have to confirm that they have food and drinks on the excursion.
    This is merely my opinion.

Same thing happened to me too on the Allure. It seemed like they have been trained not to go for the extra tips.
I tried tipping our room steward for doing something for me and it sat on the desk for 2 days until my wife tracked her down and made her take the tip.

You can get meclizine otc at Walmart. Take one in the AM with breakfast and one with dinner and you all should be good to go.

I had dinner and drinks with Betty White and Robert Goulet. However, it was 1978 and cruises were a bit different back then.
A bit more of the back story, Betty was a passenger, while Robert was the main entertainment and we were at the Captain's Table for dinner.

I was just at terminal A and even though I didn't park there but parked at Best Cruise parking.
It is a covered parking garage where there are a lot of Sheriff patrol cars parked there. it was safe and secure and cheap $80 for the week, however the transport to and from the terminal was terrible.
They say they have a shuttle running every 15 min but it is more like 1 hr. My wife had a fit at how they ran the operation there.
I would use them again but I am cheap. I can't use them again as I can't afford a divorce.
