It’s just waaaytooo long for a ship’s show.  People who didn’t know the story also had a hard time following the storyline - particularly the first half.

@twangster with all your wonderful advice and info you provide on this site, the Karma gods are rewarding you!  Not to say that anyone who wasn't as fortunate deserves whatever they ended up with!  In fact, I think @Matt got a shortened trip that he cancelled if I read that correctly. 

As all others have mentioned, there are some risks in using 3rd parties, but I can give a big thumbs up to Island Marketing, Ltd.  We did private tours with them last Spring in Nassau, Roatan, and Costa Maya and all were wonderful with no problems.  Their web address is (location name)cruiseexcursions.com, like https://jamaicacruiseexcursions.com/about/ .  You can link to all the different locations they service through each website.  One tip - before reserving online and charging a deposit to your credit card, let your CC company know you'll be making an online international purchase, or if your CC is like mine with security features, the charge will be rejected at first, and you have to have them run it through twice.

I would also hope Carnival would offer a 100% refund for any passengers who can't get to Charleston, don't want to leave their car with possible on shore flooding, or who don't want to be subject to the rough seas they will encounter, but I don't see any mention of it on their website.  
When people come on here with complaints, I'm usually one of the first to say "the cruise line did the best they could" in a given situation.  This one has me scratching my head.

Saw this on another site 'Sean and Stef Cruise Buddies.'   Appears that the storm  isn't centered on Coco cay.

I've only done this once so far, and didn't do anything special to protect the bottles.  I waited to buy my wine until shortly before I boarded the ship rather than bringing them from home and handling them through airports.  I have a hard sided carry on bag, and put them inside for getting through security and boarding, and had no issues.  I realize I was probably lucky, but just limiting my time and handling with them helped.

Yes, just be very careful to make sure you get back on the ship on time.  If you get stranded on the island you'll be screwed without a passport.

I do wish that the final San Juan police investigation report would be made public.  That would answer a lot of questions I believe 

I'm not even a religious person.... but....  At this point, i really dont care so much about what happens regarding my cruise... I just heard on tv, that when this made landfall in the Bahamas an hour or so ago, it did so , officially in a tie with the one that hit the Fl Keys in the 1930's, as THE worst / most powerful hurricane to make landfall there..  in recorded history ... ?    Now is the time to seriously pray for the folks who live on those tiny islands

I'm glad you've been able to find humor and laugh at the situation.  It's the best medicine.  

All of you complaining about this situation need to review your travel insurance policies to check your options for trip interruption.  You did get travel insurance when you booked a Caribbean cruise during hurricane season with flights involved, right???  Of course you did.  You sound like responsible, intelligent folks.

In no way, shape, or form did they jeopardize their passengers' safety to sail.  They will keep their ships (which are huge investments) far away from the storm. 
How you get to the cruise is not the cruise line's responsibility.  Any changes you have to make to travel arrangements or accommodations is on you.  It's not on the cruise line to make you "whole" for your trip.  That is what travel insurance is for.
That's when you invoke the travel insurance.  If your flight home on Monday is canceled, then you will file with your travel insurance company to recoup the extra costs incurred to get home.

Definitely burn those calories !!  

great laugh, I actually thought i was going to find something to help keep my DW out of the gym for a couple of hours each day while on a cruise.  Her workout throws my whole routine off every day.

I haven't been to these islands yet, but will be on my next cruise, and from what I've seen on my research, that appears to be correct.  Aruba and St. Maarten - nice sandy beaches, Curacao and Bonaire - more rocky/broken shell beaches.  Bonaire has amazing diving and snorkeling just off shore by boat.  Curacao is great for land/town exploration.  

I was so confused by the title...."fly into Melbourne or Orlando?"  The only Melbourne I've heard of is in Australia which isn't very close to Orlando.  Lol ?

There actually is an airport, Orlando Melbourne International. There are 2 airports in Orlando. (I didn't know this for a long time either).
