Finally Club Royale Letters have gone out

Recommended Posts

Hello, Attention fellow gamblers. Club Royale has finally got their act together and started to send out the member tier info email today!! I am officially Signature! They also are ready to book you your annual comp cruise.. I just spoke with Club Royale it has to be 7nights or less and can't be during a major holiday but other than that it can be any ship or sailing. I am pretty happy with this news.. Whose with me?

Apparently I'm Choice, too... do you basically get Choice tier if you play in the casino at all?

Good Question ..... my wife is also choice and she barely hits the casino.... I think we used her card once on the last cruise, I'm the more active one.

Yeah - I asked a friend real quickly and it looks like 'Choice' tier really doesn't mean a whole lot... just that you've basically stepped foot in the casino at some point.

I play a decent amount of roulette, but not enough to get me in to any kind of VIP status.

I play every day  pretty much..and usually for a few hours.....and always insert my card.......never received anything about being a part of this..so no, its not based on simply playing....

Mind you, its never a lot that I gamble.....but spend considerable time there each cruise.

Where do you see this status..?

It was on the email that I received yesterday ..... It has a chart showing where you are and the different levels --- similar to the graphics used to show your C & A status...... what I didn't see is what's required to move up the levels.

My understanding is that there is kind of a hidden amount of 'points' you get based on the amount of time spent playing in the casino and the size of hand played.

From the CLUB ROYALE REWARDS PROGRAM RULES pdf link in the email:

"At the beginning of each Program Year, the number of Tier Credits held by each Member shall be reset to zero."

I'll never get beyond Choice tier based on the limited amount of gambling I do.

From @TheStigggg in a parallel discussion thread here:

Quote

According to the agent I spoke with on the phone:

Choice: 1 - 2499

Prime: 2500 - 24999

Signature: 25000-99999

Masters: 100000+

So yes, just setting foot into the casino and spending any amount that gets registered against your account will get you into the Choice tier.

I'd still love a clearer picture of how they calculate the points for table game play. It's clearly not 1 point per $5, maybe 1 per $10? Or 1 point for each bet at the minimum level? I was consistently betting $10 a throw between pass line and odds at the craps table, where the minimum was $5 for the pass line and single odds after the opening throw, and I easily wagered about $300 over the course of 3 nights (at least 10 rounds of betting $10 each on a given night); if it were based on the minimum bet amount or $5 per point, I should have gotten about 60 points, plus the 10 points I know I got from slots after putting in $50 there. But when I spoke with a rep on the phone, I learned my point total was only in the mid-30s, which would put the table rating at more like 1 point per $12 or thereabouts.

I've read from Raye and others that the table games are harder for them to rate, and unless you've made a point of talking to the casino host (I didn't) so you have a pit boss carefully watching you (he wasn't), they just rate as if you only bet the minimum every time. But if that were true and it was still 1 point per minimum bet, why isn't my point total higher?

This is the one area where I'd like to see a lot more clarity. Maybe when I go on Anthem in October, I'll make a point of finding and speaking to the casino host on embarkation day and trying to get him to explain that a little more clearly.

Ok....so I have set foot inside the casino every cruise..every day...I did not receive an email or get any info.....and from what I gather its nothing you can "sign" up for...so how is everyone getting these emails and info?

It must be just for table play...as I have never played the tables...just the machines.

It's for slots as well as table play, but you have to make sure you put your Sea Pass card in the machine before you put in any money, and leave it in there the whole time you're playing, right until you "cash out" and get a notice saying it's safe to remove the card. Skip any of those steps, you have no rating.

@monctonguy, just to follow up a step further on my last post, you may want to directly call the Casino Royale number and talk with someone. If you've put in a lot of slots play and never gotten a notification about any rating or anything, and you've done all the right steps with putting in your Sea Pass card so it directly tracks your play, there's something really wrong there and they should be notified. If there's any program where I imagine they want to keep the members happy and coming back for more, that's the one.

Interesting....as I am religious about putting my card in each time...perhaps I pulled it out before my ticket cashed out or something....but that seems crazy that it would erase all my play..

Yeah...for 11 cruises I have spent quite a few hours as well as cash playing the slots for sure.....

I guess a call is the next step....

Thanks for the info.....talked to them. Looks like I would have benefited from the new program if it had been around back when I  first started cruising and was doing multiple cruises a year in back to back years....but back then it was  "invite" only or whatever....moving forward I will be tracking my play and spend much closer as well as speaking to the casino host to make sure my playing is being tracked and credited!

Ah, OK. So basically, while you had play that was "significant" in terms of what you could afford, Royal didn't consider it "significant" enough to merit being invited under the old (and more arcane) rules.

Definitely a bummer. Hopefully you'll get in without problems after your next cruise and then be able to get some small benefits. I will say that after speaking directly with a rep from CR to get that point balance, I was immediately offered a 5% discount on my next cruise booking. And that was with a paltry mid-30s in points! So hopefully you'll manage to get something a smidge better, since it sounds like you're a somewhat more avid denizen of the casino than I am. ?

Congratulations, Stephanie -

Dan and I are just prime but we're both happy with that.  Glad the letters have finally arrived.  Haven't called to inquire about comped cruises yet but I'm in Detroit on biz this week.  Will call next week.

About 95% of my casino play is blackjack  The other 5% is sitting next to the wife playing video poker.  From what I see at the blackjack tables they would have a difficult time tracking how much each player bets on each hand but they do record how many chips you buy when first sit down at the table.  So if I were to buy $500 worth of chips instead of $200 then that should move me up the food chain no matter how many chips I bet on each hand.  Is my logic correct here?
