Best floor to stay on Oasis class

What is the best floor to stay on in the oasis class.  I am booking on Harmony and don't know what deck to stay on.

This isn't going to be the same answer for everybody.  There's a case to be made for every deck depending on what kind of room you like, where you want to be close to and personal preferences and sensitivities.

  1. Are you going for an ocean view?
  2. Do you care about having a window, balcony or a suite?
  3. How sensitive are you to motion/seasickness?
  4. Where are you spending most of your time on the ship?  Your Room, Pool, Casino, Pub, etc.?

When you pick a room, look a deck above and a deck below to see what's around you, it's best to be above and beneath other cabins.  If you're prone to seasickness, you want to be down low close to the middle.  If you want a window, you need to be outside mid-to-low.  If you want a balcony, you need to be on 6 or above.  Some of the balconies face inward to the boardwalk and central park, some of the balconies face outward to the sea.

Also, the ship is HUGE so you also want to think about how far you are from the elevators and stairs too.  There's a tradeoff between how much foot traffic there is in the hallway outside and how far you have to walk to get to your room.  It's longer than you might think, but hoofing it also burns calories.

I loved being on deck 6 towards the aft near the entrance to the Boardwalk. Easy access to the Promenade venues as well as Boardwalk and Schooner, and then only a 2 deck walk up to Central Park!

Another vote for deck 6.  Very convenient to so much.

The higher the better, I like looking down at all those little people 😂😂😂😂😂

In all honesty, it doesn't matter just as long as I'm on a cruise. I haven't see that much of a difference except from those that have reported sleeping below a deck that doesn't have a lot of activities going on...like below the pool or dining room.

Thanks for all your answers!  Thats what I was looking for... other peoples opinions and why.  Noise has never been an issue for us because we are late night family anyway. I was thinking of booking on floor 8 because it seemed like might be fun to be on the garden level.  I was also thinking maybe nice to be on a floor that we can easily grab a drink to take back to the balcony.  We are getting a ocean balcony.  Other cruse lines we liked the higher decks... Also I know on like Disney deck 5 has extra large balconies so I don't know if RC has any secrets like that.   I love to hear everyones thoughts.  Can't wait to sail RC!!

I have heard from others that Deck 8 with Central Park is wonderful! And peaceful. If you want a slightly larger balcony, check out the deck plans for that deck. Some of the balconies can be on the "hump" (those are usually suites) or just near it and it might jut out a bit giving you some extra space.

On Allure last Thanksgiving we were in a "hump" balcony on 8.  I loved being on Deck 8.  We were also on 8 when we had our first 2 BR ATS. 8 is great because of its proximity to Central Park.  I will not, however, stay in one of the hump balconies again.  While the extra deep balcony was lovely, it is a LONG walk to get to those hump balconies.  Because the hump balconies are located "behind" restaurant row, you must go either all the way forward or all the way aft to get to the hallways and then walk all the way back to the hump area. I have the same aversion to the ATS now.  If you don't mind walking, they are great rooms but for me.  No thanks.

Great information!  I was wondering where the openings are to get in the Central Park.

I have found that on the monster ships believe it or not the higher up you go the more you feel I was in the mdr after a pretty rough and windy night I was talking to the head waiter who I got to be friends with over the 8 days and he told me something I hadn't considered the ship is so large that the 20 knot speed and the 20 knot wind cause a 40 knot wind capable of rocking the ship with out the waves and if I want a far less rocky experience go to a lower deck so I went to my daughters room on level 3 o/v it was in fact much much calmer than my 12th floor balcony room her ocean view window was huge I actually sat in her window I don't get affected often by motion having sailed crew on my uncles schooner (83) island hopper but sometimes I get it . my suggestion is to look at the deck plans and decide which areas are closest to the things you like most (theatre schooner bar elevators spa etc. and book what you think will do you the most good

@henrysea13 YES!  The ship is very tall with a wide flat bottom so there's a lot of surface area above the water to catch the wind.  The stabilizers cancel most of the motion out, but in very high winds, you can still feel the motion, especially on the higher decks.  On Deck 12, I definitely felt it on the windiest night.  I was having trouble sleeping on my side because of it and had to sleep on my back for more stability.  I'm not prone to motion or sea sickness, but I can definitely see how that could bother people who are.

On our maiden Oasis voyage in January, I picked a port aft balcony on deck 12.

We loved it, but found out that there are lots of things to consider, primarily - if you're going

to be that high (and stairs are an issue for the old bones), then you'll find yourself waiting

a lot for an elevator, especially any time near dinner.  So this November, on our next Oasis

cruise, I booked forward starboard so that we could use those elevators and just walk the promenade

to get to the MDR, boardwalk, or flowrider.

Also, I LOVE the Solarium, and that puts us considerably closer.

To echo mworkman - I'll be on a cruise so I don't really care where I am!!!

Ditto, unless you're headed to Deck 17 :10_wink: That trumps all !

I guess I can deal with it, being that CK is going to be right there.

Man, I guess our secret is out, I was just looking at January 2020 for the Oasis class ships and the Star Loft and they are double what I paid for Allure in January of 2019. I looked at all 4 ships, Oasis and Allure are about the same, Harmony a few % point higher and Symphony just a little higher than Harmony.

I wasn't planning on booking, 2020 is when I'm doing the South Pacific 40th Anniversary cruise in March, but the prices shocked me, my fall back plan if the South Pacific got nixed was a B2B on one of the Oasis class ships, but that might be out now.

Don't give up hope.  The SC prices for 4 people are almost identical in March 2020 to March 2019.  +/- $100, Oasis of the Seas, the other ones are sky high.  Keep looking...

I'll have to wait until the rest of 2020 to come out, the Anniversary cruise is going to be in March 2020, so I will cruise again sometime after that, so a waiting game.

I'm waiting to book the March of 2020 cruise, South Pacific doesn't come out until April 9th...
