ScottD Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 Saw this over on FB.... interesting. Do you need to have one to upgrade or are they just randomly asking people to bid? PPPJJ-GCVAB, dougalsgirl, Cactus527 and 5 others 1 7 Quote
smokeybandit Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 This is actually smart. I'm sure plenty of people cancel cabanas last minute. ScottD and RCIfan1912 2 Quote

tjcruisers Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 When we were on Wonder, they had something similar (not a royal up bid), but an upgrade offer to an over the water cabana (at an 80% discount) from the beach bed we got. They either texted us or it popped up on the app the morning we got into PDCC. Better to let people bid on it than sit empty ImOnlyHereForTheInk and RCIfan1912 1 1 Quote
TexanTwoStep Posted April 10 Report Posted April 10 (edited) I know supply and demand, but if they listed cabanas at a more appropriate price (under $1000....), they'd probably get more sales and not have to do this. I love the idea and would love to rent one, but not for half the price I paid for my cruise (or sometimes more). For example, our June 6 sailing on Symphony, the South Beach Cabanas are 2682.90, or $335.36 per hour, before tax and tip. I'm currently paying a lawyer less than that to work on a pretty complex legal issue we are dealing with. I get that people have disposable income and buy them, but Royal is forgetting who their target demographic is with these types of add-ons. Last year on Adventure in June, they were a little cheaper around 1900 per cabana. All but 3 of the cabanas sat empty all day. When asked about them on the island, they stated that they were still full price. Edited April 10 by TexanTwoStep Forgot a line Disneylover89 and Baked Alaska 2 Quote

I didn't learn much except the guy who said he received the RoyalUp e-mail didn't purchase anything... so I guess it would be bidding on an upgrade from a free lounge chair. ScottD 1 Quote

I'm honestly not sure... they just posted these screen shots over on FB and said they received it as an email, but not sure if it's available by just checking the regular Royal Up area in the booking or not. The guy who posted in the FB group for that April 20th Wonder cruise tried to post a link but it was his personal link from the e-mail he got so it doesn't take you to a landing page like the main cabin RoyalUp page where you can enter your info. I tried to find one but couldn't. ScottD 1 Quote

Sludog Posted April 12 Report Posted April 12 We are on the upcoming 4/20 Wonder sailing. We royal up bid from our junior suite to a grand suite about 2 months ago. Just got word 12 days before sailing that our minimum bid was accepted. A couple of hours later received another email that we could bid on cabanas at Perfect Day but we weren't interested since we usually just roam around to different beaches and then end up at the pool towards the end of the day. Granted, maybe that feature wasnt available 2 months ago Quote
