Mrs. Thomas Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 I have 2 cruises coming up, one being a surprise. I haven't been on a cruise in a long time and didn't do the online check in. According to the video on RCB we have to take a photo when we check in. Is there a way to check in without the photo. I would prefer to not have to ruin the surprise due to check in. I'm still a little unsure how it all will work (even after watching the video a couple of times). TIA Quote
wordell1 Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 For normal check in you can skip over the photo part. They will just take it at the port. Most of the time, they retake it anyway. If you want to do express check in, you need to have it. RCIfan1912, WAAAYTOOO, Mrs. Thomas and 1 other 4 Quote
KJones Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 Half the time when we upload a photo in the app for express check in, we have to retake the photo at the port anyways. You can definitely skip doing it ahead of time. Villageidiot, LTR, RCIfan1912 and 1 other 4 Quote
DoomSlayer Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 I stopped with the photos during the online check-in all together. As @KJones said, more times than not, they ended up retaking the photos at the port anyway. Saves a lot of hassle by not worrying about them, especially if you have a lot of people to check in and they are not all nearby when you check in. WAAAYTOOO, AandD, RCIfan1912 and 2 others 5 Quote
Reigert2008 Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 If you cruise with the same people, like I do with my in-laws, you can do what we do. Each year around Christmas, we all line up and I get a good high quality image (with my phone) that I save and use for the check in photos. Then I have it available when I do the 1 AM check ins . So far, we've not had to retake pictures at the port, so it seems like our process works. I treat it like a passport photo, but do allow people to wear thier glasses Tammy LR, RCIfan1912, WAAAYTOOO and 2 others 5 Quote

On a recent cruise out of Vancouver, they required check in through the app. App would take a picture but would not allow you to upload one. Another irritation is there was no provision to print your boarding documents. I hope Royal doesn't extend this requirement to other cruise ports, but I'm not optimistic. Mrs. Thomas 1 Quote

WAAAYTOOO Posted October 16, 2024 Report Posted October 16, 2024 Agree. Grandeur required me to check in with the app. Complete PITA. I would much rather check into. My laptop. steverk, JustMeJoe, RCIfan1912 and 1 other 2 1 1 Quote
