I am guessing that occasionally they need to unload lobster tails as they approach the "use by" date. I've heard tell that sometimes on Symphony they will have some on the Embarkation day buffet. But its not every sailing, so no guarantee.

Utopia does the short sailings which don't usually offer lobster on the dinner menu, so they're ordering this just for the embarkation buffet it seems.

The lobster tails are small and they are cut in half, making it easy to extract the meat. They are served cold (along with the other seafood at this buffet station). There is a crew member serving the lobster tails. I asked for and received two. I don't know what the limit is.

If someone wants to take me on Utopia before it's gone I promise to find out! 🤣

A long time ago on I don't remember which ship (possibly Oasis), they had the same type of lobster tails sliced in half in WJ on lobster night (they were hot though). There was no limit that night. 😋

I prefer them hot. Their texture is somehow better. And with lots of drawn butter.

Agreed. I always get the MDR lobster for the heck of it although I've never found it all that exciting between size and quality. Got lucky and they were actually a decent size and cooked very well on Wonder last month... and as a small bonus I always get my wife's b/c she doesn't eat seafood.

If they served good lobster, you wouldn’t need lots of drawn butter.  That masks the fact that the lobster has no taste.  Yes I am spoiled by living in New England with lots of fresh lobster available, but the stuff they serve barely qualifies as lobster.  I don’t even waste my time.

I feel the same way about the "Maryland style crab cakes". Living in Maryland my entire life, those are just...no.

HAHA! Tina, I tried it on the Utopia preview because we had a limited special menu and it wasn't horrible. But definitely NOT our crab cakes

I've never tried a REAL Maryland crab cake but have always enjoyed the "imposters" served on board. A poster on another forum who is from the area is always telling me I need to try the real thing. That said, I noticed that they're no longer called "Maryland style" crab cakes on the MDR menu. They have morphed into "crispy crab cake". I still like them. 😂

I went on a 4 day and the seafood buffet was the last evening (And it was Amazin!). I asked and was told they were doing the seafood buffet for 1 year after it was launched. You can double check as I've gotten wrong information in the past but im going again next week so I'm going to double check.

Does your wife, who doesn't eat seafood, order extra drawn butter? Asking for the diners seated across from you...

I'm the only one seated across from her, lol, and our servers brought enough that I didn't feel the need to ask for extra.

Of course this has turned into a Royal Caribbean lobster-bash.

Silver spoons or territoriality alter ones taste buds.

I've very much enjoyed and appreciated every bite of lobster I've ever had, aboard any Royal ship.

Yum.🥰

I'm on the West Coast.  I am also territorial. Alaskan and Dungenous crab is my favorite.  But I'm sure not gonna profess to the world that those pathetic little East Coast crabs are terrible.😉

No silver spoon, just easy access to the real thing.
