PSA BED BUGS Navigator

Recommended Posts

PSA Navigator of the seas has bed bugs. Confirmed by their on board horticulturalist!  Report this to guest services immediately if you have unexplained big bites!  They won't do too much for you, so be aware!  We spent basically our entire cruise at first services for many issues, but  bed bugs was the icing on top!  Ugh

We use this when we travel. We treat the hotel beds, but oddly have never been concerned with our ship beds. Probably since we feel confident they are being changed on a regular basis and have great faith in the cruise lines 🙂

while I cannot say for sure this spray works, I can say that we’ve not brought home hitchhikers (Knock on wood).

I had an issue on Enchantment with mysterious bites in April of ‘23.  The onboard doc said “bug bites” but wouldn’t go so far as to say bed bugs.  The onboard entomologist could not find evidence of bed bugs.
the person in charge of the staterooms in my area (forget the title) said they’ve been going extra deep cleaning in sections of the deck, with the goal to get to all cabins.  To me this was an admission of an issue with bugs, again, not specified as bed bugs.

Some years ago pre-pandemic my husband and I were on Freedom and the moment we walked into our balcony stateroom there was this chemical like smell that was strong and it wasn't a cleaning chemical smell.  We asked our stateroom attendant to come in and check it out she said your stateroom was treated and sprayed down as the previous guest on an earlier cruise brought bed bugs onboard with them.  She said the cruise before ours they left the room empty as they did multiple treatments during that previous cruise.

Luckily our bags had not been delivered however we immediately went down to guest services and demanded they give us another room because we were adamant we weren't staying in a state room that had bed bugs even if they had treated the room and are now telling us its safe and bed bug free.  In our case at first they wouldn't move us but we were so insistent that they sent the hotel manager up to our stateroom and the hotel manager called down to say there is no way guest could stay in the room.  Even though according to the hotel manager it was bed bug free the chemical smell was overwhelmingly strong the manager was like we can't put guest in this room until that smell subsides. At that point guest services switched us to a different balcony stateroom. The good news is they held our bags and thankfully never delivered our bags to that room instead they held our bags until a new stateroom was assigned.  Even though our bags would have been outside the room I probably would have had to get off the ship at the first port and leave everything behind (except for my wallet and passport) had they made us stay in that room or delivered our bags to the room.
