Hi Everyone!

DH just informed me we've been approved for an RC Visa card that comes with 30,000 points at some point. I was searching the blog for info on how this card works, tips & tricks, etc. Anyone have a "for Dummies" post they can point me to so I can make the most of this new thing? Would have been nice to know about his before paying my Celebrity Equinox balance yesterday. 🤪

Cheers! 🍻

$1000 charged = $10.

You can cash in on line for on board credit. If you charge about $70,000 or $700 credit...that is a BOGO or 2 for one cruise. Usually that's a 7 night Caribbean ocean view. If you pay the difference for a specific cruise, for example, the difference between an ocean view and a balcony, you can upgrade the 2 for 1.

These are approximate numbers.

Gives the details.

It takes a fair amount of cash flow for significant rewards and interest rates are not the best. Depending on your circumstances, it can provide some perks.

As far as rewards cards go, it's not the best card.  But it is a niche card and if you like it for earning cruise credits, that's great.  I'd much rather have a 2-3% cashback card for everyday purposes and specialty cards for rewards specific to travel that can give up to 5%.

As far as the bonus points up front, the offer I see is $1000 spend in the first 90-days of having the card to get those points ($300 credit).  If you are using it for the bonus only, that's fine but over the long-term, actual cash back may be more beneficial.

My problem is that I've cashed in some points and they haven't showed up yet. 🤨

When is your cruise ?  The OBC usually doesn’t show up on the reservation until about a week or so before you sail.  You are correct that you can call and ask to have it applied sooner (if you want to use it for CP purchases) but unfortunately I cannot help you as I have never called, myself.

Same here. That way it is easier to track refunds and such.

I do the same with my H-D card.

I 'bought' 250 for my Freedom cruise in October. then 'bought' 200 for my Indy cruise the week after.

The 250 hit my Freedom cruise in about 3 days, the 200 for Indy has ben applied yet. I wanted to use some of it on the dining pqackages that showed up today.

I would give them a call and say you are trying to make a cruise purchase.  I had to do that last month with my Icon sailing.

That's why I need the phone number, please

I found this.  I've called before myself but I don't remember if it was the card or Royal.

So we got this card  11 days ago, put $1000 on it right away to pay off a cruise in December. Checked on the site  a few days later and the points were already in the account- cashed them in on Wednesday, they showed up in my planner today. Two days from getting the points to getting the OBC

Boy, you were lucky. I must have a dark cloud over me!🙁

Still waiting after 2 weeks. and of course the CP has some decent sales right now.

Do you bank WITH Bank of America?  I wonder if that has anything to do with it, BOA is our actual bank for our checking and savings accounts.

I have had great success in calling the customer service line to have them expedite the OBC into my Cruise Planner.  After calling, it's never been more than 48 hours before it showed up.
