Royal Caribbean Partners With Brightline

Recommended Posts

I received an email a day or so ago to advertise a new partnership between Royal Caribbean and Brightline rails.  This email highlights an interesting option for getting from South Florida to Port Canaveral (and vise versa) that includes transport from the train station to Port Canaveral.  I knew of the rail option, of course, but always wondered how I would get from the train station (Orlando) to the port.  Apparently Royal/Brightline has solved that problem !  This is not an option I can use at the moment since we do not yet have a Brightline station near my home but I think it was recently announced that a Brightline station will be added at Ft Pierce, which would be close enough to Port St Lucie to make it doable for us, eventually.  At any rate, for those who could take advantage of this new option, here is what I received via email.

Howdy @WAAAYTOOO! I live in Port St Lucie and am considering taking Brightline for the first time for my Miami cruise in August. Do they still offer the discount and is there a shuttle from the Miami stop to the Port of Miami? TIA 😎

❤️❤️❤️

Howdy, neighbor !  We are in Tradition !

TBH, I really have no idea if the discount is still offered.  I seem to recall someone posting here that the discount offer didn’t work when they tried it.  😞😞.   Until they get a station in our area it doesn’t  seem like the Brightline would be very convenient.  I’m sure someone else can answer your question about the transport situation from the train station to the port….but AFAIK, there is not a shuttle.

We're in Veranda Gardens at Becker & the Turnpike. 😎 Great location for me to go north to Port Canaveral or south to Port Everglades. I avoid Miami cuz I'm a chicken when it comes to driving in big city traffic. 😳 So I thought I'd explore the Brightline option heading south. I enjoy reading all your posts! 😊

Yes, we are both just a chip away from I-95.  We go down to Becker road to go south !  We don’t like Miami either but we do it…reluctantly. We just get up super early and try and avoid the worst of the traffic.  I can’t wait for the train station in Stuart !

Thanks !  I know I am too “wordy”.  I am in training (like @OCSC Mike) to whittle down my blab,  😂😂😂

No, just to the airport.  Take Lyft or Uber. I do this every time. It's a very inexpensive ride

Forgot to come back and update about my April Brightline experience -

First, don't wait to book!  The price kept going up and I kept dilly dallying trying to decide which time would be best for me to go to the train station.  That cost me an extra $20ish.

Second, don't let the weight limits get you nervous.  I was under the impression that even if you were bringing the bag on the train it would be weighed.  I was coming from running races in Disney, so I had picked up champagne and other stuff and thrown it in my suitcase.  Bell services at Animal Kingdom weighed it for me and I discovered I was over, so I threw a bunch of stuff in an extra bag.  When I got to the train station nobody weighed it or even looked at how many bags I had.  So I threw everything back into the big suitcase again. (However, make sure you can actually lift it up to the storage area above your seat.  I REALLY need to work on my strength training...thankfully there was a very kind man who got it up for me, and was right there taking it down when I got to FLL.  A true gentleman!)

Parts of the ride were very scenic.  I saw dolphins swimming in a marina, a gator in a lake, and a chicken  just wandering a neighborhood.  It was a good time.

I had considered doing the first class, but I'm glad I didn't.  The regular cabin was very nice, with more than enough room to be comfortable and outlets at each seat.

When I got to FLL I discovered my hotel, the Hilton Marina, was just out of the range of the free service they provide (something I meant to look into earlier, but I kept putting it off).  So I hopped into a Lyft and was at the hotel in no time.

We recently took Brightline from MCO to ft Lauderdale for a celebrity cruise and loved it. Very convenient. I ordered a wine at the terminal bar and the bartender told me i could carry a bottle on! That beats driving. I would say if you plan on having a couple drinks and some food the upgrade to First Class may be worth it.

I've looked at the Brightline option from Fort Lauderdale station to Orlando - we have friends we want to visit there and it could serve as a trial run for a sailing on Celebrity Equinox from Port Canaveral to Barcelona in May '25. Yes, I anticipated you're going to ask if Celebrity Equinox is now porting at Cape Canaveral and yes they are in the 2025 early season.

We can drive there in about 3.5h, another 45 minutes to parking at Port Canaveral. Brightline point to point, takes 4-5h not including about an hour from the Brightline terminal in Orlando to Port Canaveral. It's also not cheap and seat pricing is load controlled. Like the other poster tells you he paid an extra $20 because he waited to get tickets. The base price for the main cabin is $89 - it goes up from there. The Premium fare which gets you some goodies for a price starts at $119. So your talking for us it's going to cost around $200 to 300 R/T.

Is it worth it? Well, you've got to consider the cost of parking your car if you drive; that's a bad idea, I finally concluded for us as we're on a B2B with the second leg after the transplant going from Barcelona to Rome. We're gone for 25-30 days. A whopper of a parking bill. We'll fly back from Rome to ORL. Probably not happening for the Equinox cruise. I can see it for a cruise from Boca and points north like Stuart and Fort Pierce. May try it if/when we go visit our friends in Orlando.
