Niovi
Since FDA has cleared lab-grown meat for human consumption in USA does anyone know if RCL will use lab-grown meat and serve it? If yes are they allowed to serve lab-grown meat on Mediterranean sailings ? WAAAYTOOO
smokeybandit
There isn't any commercially available Frankenmeat yet, none the less at a scale RC would require.
WAAAYTOOO
This is an excellent question. As a follow-on, I wonder if they are permitted to serve lab-grown meat without advising you.
smokeybandit
Honestly I think it'll be years (if at all) before this concept would be available at a mass produced level. Then yes definitely there's the public pushback many would give towards it.

Ryan79
Why does the thought of “lab grown meat” make me think of a certain sci-fi movie from the early 70’s???? I’ll pass WAAAYTOOO and Shari

Jolly Ogre
No thank you... I like my meat killed, and still a bit bloody on my plate. WAAAYTOOO
Ampurp85
I guess in my opinion.......vegan and vegetarian "meat" is already lab grown. But I also doubt the cruise ships would be the first to serve lab grown meat. CrimsonCruiser

Niovi
Thanks for your replies I will proceed with my booking then! Coming from Mediterranean and healthy cuisine that was something to worry about. I would never eat lab grown.
Doug_Texas
Italy just banned lab grown meat and there is a bill under consideration in Florida to ban it. Way too early to worry about it. WAAAYTOOO

Geezer Of The Seas
The demand for plant based fake meat seems to be declining. A fad? I'll admit to eating the occasional Beyond Burger at a Florida based upscale burger chain until they closed the neighborhood store. Were it not for the condiments, it would have been completely devoid of flavor and had a really weird texture. I really went for the peanut oil fried onion rings which were out of this world. I don't think it's fading as it's just no one feels the need to advertise it in bold anymore. Almost any restaurant I go to has at least 1 Impossible item on the menu. I think the hype of trying to convince meat eaters that vegan meat substitutes taste good has died, that's why it's not advertised. There's still enough demand to keep it on the menu, but not enough demand for companies to expand on commercial offerings. The lab grown stuff sounds all ghoulish, but after reading the ingredients list in Beyond Burgers............sounds like a high school chemistry project. I'll stick with the real deal, if it's gonna kill me, at least I know my enemy........and at age 70, not big on my list of worries.
