Did they OVERBOOK again or does this have to do with Radiance cancellations ?

I cannot change plans and I cannot fit this in next year.  Plus I'm sure I'd be paying more for airfare, cruise and hotel if i moved this to next year too. Would you take this offer?

Dear Guest,

Ahead of your Brilliance of the Seas September 17th, 2023, sailing, we are looking to see if you and your travel party have flexible travel plans. If your plans are set in stone, mark this email as "Read", and gear up for your upcoming adventure - although, we have a pretty sweet offer for you below.

If your travel plans are flexible, you may be able to take advantage of our special offer. Below, we've outlined what may be available to you.

Your Offer

Double your value - cancel your current booking, and we'll provide you with a 100% refund, PLUS a 100% Future Cruise Credit to book a future Royal Caribbean sailing:

What you'll receive:

  • Royal Caribbean International will fully refund your current booking on Brilliance of the Seas.
    • You can expect to receive your refund to your original form of payment within 14 business days. Kindly note, refund times may vary depending on your financial institution.
  • PLUS, we'll give you a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) valued at 100% of the cruise fare paid on your current booking to book an alternative RCI sailing departing by September 17th, 2024.
  • If you used a Future Cruise Credit (FCC) to pay for your reservation, any NEW funds paid above the certificate amount will be refunded and the original FCC will be reinstated and valid for a year from issuance.

We'll also reimburse you for any non-refundable, pre-purchased travel expenses (e.g. hotel, flight) you have incurred.

Please note that this special offer is time-limited and subject to availability. If you're happy to be excluded from the special offer, please disregard this email - no further action is required.

If you're interested, please submit your current booking details no later than September 14th, 2023, via the survey link here. This is the only way to apply for the special offer, as our Call Center teams are unable to process any requests over the phone. If you're successful, we'll reach out by either phone or email and send an updated booking invoice to your given email. If you haven't heard from us by September 15th, 2023, you will remain booked on your existing Brilliance of the Seas sailing.

Thanks for your cooperation and understanding.

Sincerely,

Royal Caribbean International

Sounds like an overbooked situation to me.  I can’t imagine how the Radiance mess would be affecting Brilliance.

Just 1 word of caution.  IF you booked your cruise using a casino offer of ANY kind, and especially if you upgraded a casino offer, the way they calculate cruise fare is bizarre and will never work in your favor.  The 100% refund is what it is… no worries on that BUT the 100% FCC will disappoint you, I promise. Be very careful when seeking an FCC based on a casino upgrade.  If you didn’t use a casino fare, ignore my comment.

GOOD to Know if we ever find ourselves in this similar situation!!!    Thanks @WAAAYTOOO

You'd be surprised

Perhaps. I guess it would have to actually happen to me in order for me to decide on it. But in my situation I would be traveling from Florida to Alaska. I think with all the planning (flights and hotels) already in place, and considering the Alaska cruise season is almost over, I wouldn't want to have to wait until next year to go again. Thank you for your kind offer Royal, but I'm going on this cruise. Now being a Florida resident who is within a 3.5 hour drive from the 4 ports Royal sails from, if this offer were to be presented to me on a cruise from here, I might consider that offer.

If I had some flexibility to reschedule and depending on if I paid low end or high end for the cruise, I would consider it.  If I paid peak pricing, then the FCC is more likely to cover a low end price on a replacement and the result is a free cruise.  If I paid low end pricing, then the refund plus FCC might just be close to a break even.

It's a good offer, I would definitely vet it and make a decision based on my variable set.

My decision would be based on the type of cabin I have and the weather forecast. With the impact that hurricane Lee could potentially have on upcoming air travel everywhere, that makes this an extra juicy offer. Take a look at when you are scheduled to leave and guesstimate whether it might be a rainy day. If it were me and it looked like my scheduled departure was a rainy day and I have an inside, ocean view, or balcony...I'm calling right now and taking the offer as it is.

If I have a doorbell room, regardless of the weather forecast; I'm calling Royal and I am going to let them know I am on the fence with the offer. I am going to play a little hardball with them. At the very least make them give me a full refund and double the FCC offer.  Your deal doesn't have to be struck in one call, let them know you are open to compromise. They will be calling you back, I promise.

I am certain Royal has a big problem with "stranded" Radiance passengers. Passengers who bought the extended travel packages, passengers who traveled from far off distant lands, passengers who paid big,big money for their cancelled cabin, and passengers who are just really good at pitching a bitch. Royal would likely really want to offer these folks a comparable Alaska sailing and give them a doorbell room as a consolation.

Would I take the offer?

yes, but I can fit this in next year, unlike you.  Reimbursed non refundable airfare-score!! Reimbursed non refundable hotel-score ! A full cruise refund? Bring it on! AND a FCC of the same value?!-is it Christmas?!

I’d price out hotel, air and next years cruise if it’s all available and determine if it’s “worth it”.

also note this offer is subject to availability.  Leaves me wondering if it’s a certain cabin category they need to accept or if it’s a mixture, and how many cabins are they looking to cancel?
