Man Over Board - Quantum - Brisbane to Hawaii

Recommended Posts

Pretty sad news coming from Quantum tonight.. Man Over Board... search has been going on for a number of hours but they have ended the search and are now steaming toward Hawaii.

My home port, Brisbane on Quantums last sailing for the season, back to Hawaii, then on to service the Alaskan Season.

Hope it's nobody we know.

Developing story..

“There was an announcement that there was a medical emergency and that a person had passed away which does happen from time to time,” Mark said.

“But an hour and a half later, they got the call-out that somebody had gone overboard, and it turned out to be the partner of the person that passed away.”

Royal Caribbean has been contacted for comment.

"The US Coast Guard has confirmed that an Australian is missing after going overboard from a cruise ship off Hawaii.

That ship, the Royal Caribbean's Quantum of the Seas, halted its course after the incident and took part in the initial search for around two hours.

It has now resumed course and a C-130 Hercules is conducting an aerial search.

The Honolulu Command Centre has confirmed that the person missing is an Australian man, but provided no further details."

oh my gosh this is horrible

Absolutely horrible and saddening - the whole ship today (as you can imagine) is flat and sombre... some people crying and want to get off the ship.

Is that confirmed? Sounds like a rumor at this point. People have medical issues on cruises all the time.

only by people speaking with the press.

nothing in detail confirmed from authorities.

and probably won't be until officially identified and name released.

And that concludes a very sad ending to this story...

"The Australian man missing off Hawaii after going overboard from a cruise ship has been identified as 35-year-old Warwick Tollemache.

The US Coast Guard suspended its search for the missing Australian on Friday, after he went overboard while travelling on a Royal Caribbean cruise from Brisbane to Hawaii.

Family and friends have shared posts on social media saying Mr Tollemache will be "deeply missed".

"Our family is heartbroken at the loss of our beloved Warwick," Mandy Tollemache wrote.

"He was a kind, beautiful, and gentle soul who was adored by everyone who knew him."

Search and rescue mission coordinator, Kevin Cooper, from the Joint Rescue Coordination Center Honolulu, said Mr Tollemache's next of kin had been consulted before making the decision to call off the search"
