CruisingfromClayton
So we sail out of Bayonne on Oct 17th, headed to Canaveral then the Bahamas. When we first booked Allure (and subsequently Oasis), we had anticipated summer weather for both formals and daywear so had prepped with shorts, tank tops and lighter summer evening ware. We have always sailed out of Florida so not sure what weather conditions to expect for the first 2 days at sea. Has anyone sailed that time out of NJ? Would you suggest jeans or warmer tops? Thank you for your experience!

Thank you for your experience! In October you will be pretty safe with mostly shorts. NJ can be cold in mid Oct but its not exactly winter yet. You will be pretty far south by the time you wake up for day 2, same on the way back. I would bring 1 or 2 fall weather items like a light jacket or sweater you could put on if needed. You will need something to board/disembark anyway and it may be cold that time of year in NJ. CruisingfromClayton and Neesa
KLA
I agree with the advice offered. October tends to be our favorite time to cruise and you’ll still be safe with shorts/tshirts/sundresses and it’s plenty warm for the beach further south (not too hot not too cold), but pack some items that will help keep you warm for once you get towards chilly climates. BrianB
Oct in NJ is beautiful. On sunny days the temperature can get warm enough to enjoy the beach and at night it can be sweater/windbreaker brisk. Especially on the water. But remember, weather is a fickle thing. Just be prepared. CruisingfromClayton, Neesa and PPPJJ-GCVAB
Jill
The beginning and end might be a bit chilly but once you hit Florida and Caribbean it’s summer. I’d pack a light jacket/sweatshirt and a pair of jeans/pants mostly for leaving Bayonne and arriving. We did an oasis cruise out of PC to eastern Caribbean one March and we hit a cold front on our last day and it was pretty chilly on deck CruisingfromClayton and Bob_KY
KevinJ
We're on the same sailing. Since we drive down from New Hampshire we'll have some warmer gear, but can leave things like heavier coats in the car. As @BrianB said, weather can be fickle, we've had snow that time of year in NH. Dicey
We pack a couple of sweatshirts and jeans. But everyone's different. There are also people out in t-shirts and shorts. Fall in NYC is usually clear and in the 50s-60s, chillier by and on the waters. So you can expect that climate and pack as you see fit. I agree . 60 to someone north of NY is likely “shorts weather” where’s 60 to a Floridian might feel like it’s time for a parka! S0nny
Just keep in mind it will be hurricane season in October!! I'm still brainwashed to "dress to egress"
BrianB
I’m on the Oasis out of Bayonne now. When we left at 5pm it was very sunny and warm on deck…even hot. Now out at sea it’s chilly…sweater weather. But it’s clear and the moon is nearly full. Beautiful! KLA and WAAAYTOOO 1
