Anthem of the Seas, June 6, 9-night Bermuda (OL-8720 SC)

Recommended Posts

Ah, Labadee ... here's ya'll some more random pictures from there ...

This pineapple drink, I think, is a waste of money ... It can leak and there isn't much in it

This is part of the main beach for everyone.  The lounge chairs seem to be first come first serve.  You may have to rent the covered ones - not sure about those.

Sushi making class - it was just ok.  Nothing we'll do again.  I recommend not doing this before lunch.  You can eat what you make if you want - we didn't.

My hubby has done the sushi making class on four different ships so far, he loves it.  Eating the sushi afterwards is the best part - it IS lunch!

Dan also loves the sushi making classes but he is a terrible student.  He just does his own thing and ignores the sensei.  Of course, I’m no better.  I enjoy some sushi but I HATE that seaweed wrap so I leave it off.  Yes, my rolls are a bit “flaccid” but they sure taste better (to me).

Countdown days - 7  (or maybe I can say 6, since 'technically' we leave next Wednesday)  With all the excitement building about the cruise, it's hard to try and not get started packing.  Yeah, that mean we wouldn't have much to wear until next week.  #DirtyClothes

Well, the house has been cleaned - a few times - since we can't do our packing, might as well clean, huh.   I think I've picked up / moved / rearranged the empty suitcases a few times now.

We decided to stay at the Hyatt Regency on the Hudson thanks to some of that cash back stuff on one of our credit cards.  It is a little further from the port than I like, but we plan to do some walking around NY.  When we cruise out of Ft. Lauderdale, the only walking we do is to the Starbucks and back  😎  Only downside to this place is that there isn't a SB within walking distance.

Following this blog 🙂  It will be our first time on the Anthem and first time SC in September - can not wait!!!  We are also staying at the Hyatt, shame about SB as that is where I send my other half first thing in the morning !!!   Can't wait to read the rest of your story and enjoy the packing 🙂

Meet Reuben, an extremely interesting and amazing manager ... meet him and see for yourself 😎

Reuben was also the manager / head waiter in CK on our sailing on Anthem last October. Agree that he's a really interesting guy with a really neat background, and nice as can be.

Yeah, don't try and snorkel in Bermuda at Horseshoe bay ... it doesn't work.  The waves will make sure you can't ....  Oh yeah, careful, because the rip-tide will try and pull you back out.

That is some seriously rougher surf and much bigger waves than my wife and I saw there last October. You must have arrived at the peak of high tide while we were at the lowest low.

I would consider doing the sushi class because I love sushi, wife not so much. She's good with a piece or two. My dilemma is that the class in on the only sea day we have and being that it's during lunch, we will miss our only chance to have the Tutti Bar. Can't miss that!

Ok yeah, must be Greene hook then. Sometimes they have those games outside on the patio. Good choice, I like that place too.

Hi can you recommend anywhere else in that area for dinner ?   We will try the city diner for breakfast😀 just love an American Diner on our first day in the states !

The Coastal Kitchen staff rocks!  I think we both thought the staff on board Anthem were over the top!

Meet Anna.  She will greet you when you enter always with a smile and glad to see you.  She remembers your favorite seat!  Extremely friendly!  We need more of her in our restaurants back at home !!

I'm happy you had such a great family trip on Anthem!  You guys sure enjoyed it all!  We loved Anthem and we loved loved that exact same 9 night itinerary starting on May 23rd-June 1st.  Anna and Reuben sure are the best!!!!  Reuben talked with us every night about different things!  He actually seems like he checks in with everyone each night!  They are the best we've ever had in a Coastal Kitchen so far!  I'm surprised that the Conceirge was so empty!  We had to pull up chairs many times to sit with friends we had made throughout the sailing!  Maybe because our sailing had less than 400-500 kids total so many more adults I guess!  Your pics and periscopes were a fantastic reminder to such an awesome cruise!  Your gorgeous room had us all in a dream state!  All I can say is PHENOMENAL!!!

We too love Nashville!  The Opryland hotel decorated inside and out over Christmas is beyond words!  My parents lived in Knoxville for 25 years after they retired from Ca.  My Mom and lots of relatives from East Tennessee!  Have lifelong memories in the state since my father worked/retired from United Airlines spent long summer vacations on the farm in Athens and then with my parents in Knoxville!  We visit Mom now from Atlanta every 3 weeks.  She is surrounded with 5 siblings there.

Enjoy planning your Harmony trip!  We are excited to be back on Harmony over Labor day week this year for our 5th and final cruise of 2019!  Boo!  Love the Grease Musical!  We are excited to try the Unlimited Dining pkg for a ridiculous inexpensive price for the first time that Waytoo and many others have raved about!

The reality of cleaning and cooking for yourself is a terrible reality!  It sure takes awhile to get over that feeling!

Thanks again for sharing!  Enjoy the rest of your summer!

Michelle

My hubby does it by himself.  You can do it, then have her come at the end to help eat. It's encouraged!

Glad to seem I’m not the only one who keeps really far away trips in a countdown app.

We have a few booked but our next Star class isn't until a week after yours. Such a long wait!

@Andrew72681, what app is that you are using for that countdown snapshot?

It's called just Countdown, The developer is Mariano Rezk and the icon is a counterclockwise arrow. It's free but to remove the ads and to access the control center widgets it was 99 cents. The first day I downloaded it the unlock was I think 2.99, but the next day it dropped down.

I guess it's just for the iPhone 🙂  I'm a Samsung Galaxy guy - lol
