Thanks!  It's my favorite ever.  Here is my 2nd favorite ever.  And this little guy is now almost as tall as me and 14 now!  :(  Time goes too too fast.  So glad we have these memories and pictures.

Stunning, to say the least! I don't think it would be possible to find a more attractive family for modeling! Who could not be jealous of all your magnificent eyes?!

About the love and marriage show...two weeks ago we saw Clo host the love and marriage show.  By the far the funniest one I have ever seen!  Mostly because of her and her jokes.  She is one of the better ones for sure!  If any of you ever have the pleasure of sailing with her or Tim Connor, make sure you attend all of the events.  She even made the Captain's talk funny!

Tim Connor is now on the Independence. I've watched both him and Clo do the L&M show and they are both really good. Abe Hughes (whose L&M I saw in person) was hilarious, and then there was Bobby...

Sorry, but looking at how many great CD's work for Royal, it further confuses me as to why Bobby got SY.

We probably have not been on as many cruises as you guys, but Abe Hughes is the best we have had by far. Not only was he really funny, but was just a mound of energy. I truly don't think he sleeps---he is all over the ship all the time. At the time we saw him, his AM was Chris Hopkins-also fantastic, but I think Joe01 said he is no longer with Royal. On the other hand, other than hosting events we never saw Casey Pelter even once. Abe's morning show was terrific, Casey's was boring. We have no recollection of other CDs we have seen, which makes Abe stand out even more.

This has been posted before, but when you have a chance check out Abe's L&M game on Harmony. It's the entire show-about 45 minutes. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhOQjdBBhYs

newbie here so just making sure--So are you saying that is easier to get a 2 person table if you do MTD? (looking for Ovation)

Overall, what I am getting is:

    • email rcldining@rccl.com 2-3 weeks before and confirm
    • call ahead of cruise and confirm
    • go to main dining room as soon as you board and confirm

What if you are just a lonely newbie that just signed up for C&A? Do you still get the perks of requesting  a 2 person table?

FYI, I e-mailed rcldining@rccl.com several months ago for a May sailing. Not only did I request a table for 2, but I requested a specific table number. We had sailed that ship last year and loved the location. I know they may change the configuration, but gave them the last reservation also.  They responded immediately saying that I should resubmit the request when down to 50 days or less. I did resubmit on Saturday (2 days ago) and today I received a reply with a copy of the confirmation from the ship to corporate. Could not have asked for better or faster customer service. Of course, we will still go to MDR upon embarkation to reconfirm.

  4. Great article in NY Times re the conditions in St. Martin and the differences there between the Dutch and French sides. Beautiful pictures also.

    https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/19/travel/st-martin-after-hurricane-irma-.html

Here are the last 3 paragraphs.

Each day, progress is beginning to take hold. By the end of June, inventory on the Dutch side of the island is expected to grow by 560 rooms with properties like Divi Little Bay Beach Resort and Oyster Bay Beach Resort expected to reopen. On the French side, roughly 600 rooms will be added by year-end, according to the Kate Richardson, the director of St. Martin’s tourism office, including intimate boutique-style properties. Among them: the Hotel La Plantation on Orient Bay (April), the Mediterranean-style Le Petit Hotel (June) and the Grand Case Beach Club (October).

New tourist attractions are also welcoming visitors. In November, Rainforest Adventures opened a new zip line — the Flying Dutchman — in Emilio Wilson Park. Visitors can tour a new museum dedicated to the history of the site, a former plantation dating back to the 1700s, and dine in a refurbished stone building that was once the sugar cane boiling house. And with the island’s natural attractions still intact, tour operators continue to offer sailing trips, snorkeling excursions and hikes up to Pic Paradise, the highest spot on the island.

“There are some things that the hurricane just couldn’t take away, said Marc Petrelluzzi, whose family owns Le Petit Hotel and its beloved sister property, L’Esplanade. “It’s the view. It’s the sea. It’s the beaches. It’s the vegetation. It’s nature.”

They also did write ups on St. John and Dominica and San Juan. You can see them here. Hurricanes Irma and Maria devastated islands in the Caribbean last September. Six months later, how are they recovering? To find out, writers for Travel spent time in St. John, Dominica and San Juan, P.R.

  5. Got an email today about a 3 day cruise planner sale. Some excellent prices, some not as low as previous sales. But if you missed the last sale, you may be able to save some money. Some examples for our May sailing are : $18.00/pp/pd (+18% gratuity) for refreshment package, $21 for soda/voom 1 device (+ grats on the soda portion) and $17.60 for Chops Grill lunch. Deluxe beverage comes to $42 (+grats) with a buy one, get one half promo.Shore excursions are also on sale, although I have seen lower pricing on some of them in the past.

Happy sailing (and cruise planner shopping) to all!

SUCCESS!!!!!  $450 taken off the June, 2019 Cruise!!!!!  YAY!  Okay, now does anyone know how I can view payment history in the new My Cruises website so I can confirm it was deducted?

@Lindsay, I got close, but no cigar. On the main page, instead of clicking Log In, click on Already Booked and then on Make a payment. That page will ask for your reservation number, etc. When I did that, mine came up with "paid in full" and the amount, but no payment history. The amount is technically incorrect because it did not include my prepaid gratuities (which I am not concerned about because I have the printed out proof of payment for that). However maybe it will appear differently for you, so give it a shot. Glad the FCC worked out for you.

Typically a ship undergoes refurb every 5 years but the Adventure one is intersting.....

This is why I am excited for my Oasis 2020 sailing. Not wanting to sail the shorter sailings on Mariner (and worried that it might be more of a party ship atmosphere) and it's been a long time since I sailed Oasis, I'm really interested to see how they change that ship in 2019. I booked that sailing for that very purpose because I expect some big changes for that ship and it's Oasis class (which I love). And I grabbed it now before they announce their plans in case they decide to sky rocket their prices afterwards.

That's a great idea, Sabrina. Although doing that would probably save me money, I just can't bring myself to plan things 2+ years out. And that thinking may cost me even more if they ever do away with refundable deposits.

  8. I thought I'd share this here for those who may not have seen Matt's blog from March 14. Very ambitious program to say the least. What stood out to me, since we are sailing Adventure soon, is that she just completed a refurb and is now scheduled to go again in 2021.

Thanks! Yea we booked drink packages, a cabana in cococay, and a message. Well see what else comes up.

@Vee2525 , there is a cruise planner sale going on right now---ends at midnight. Drink packages and some excursions are at some of the lowest prices I have seen. If you paid more than what it is now, you can easily cancel and rebook at the lower price. Check it out and hopefully save some money. But hurry--like I said the sales ends at midnight. Good luck and enjoy your cruise.

Haha! Unfortunately my own kids know this best!

You can take the teacher out of the classroom but you cannot take the teacher out of the person!  It truly is a vocation. Not just a job.  But that is a whole other topic in itself. It becomes part of who you are.

That's why avoided the Seaplex like the plague! It felt too much like recess or phys ed time in there ?

@Sabrinaklai We know how you feel. Our daughter is a teacher and you are so correct about it not being "just a job". The world is definitely a better place because of you good people who really care. Thank you for caring.

Nope. Not the part of Canada that I'm from! Got home today and it was way warmer than Jersey!

Welcome home, Sabrina. Glad you all arrived safely. Thanks again for your well written, informative and just terrific live review. We loved it all, even mysterious hubby, who certainly knows his way with the camera! Good luck with the rest of the school year--I am sure your students love you.

  12. Hopefully someone here has been on the "Airboat Adventure Lone Cabbage Style" excursion through RCCL in Port Canaveral. It lists it as "moderate" activity, which in their definition says may include long periods of walking on uneven surfaces, etc.
The description of the excursion (below) doesn't give us the impression that it would really be all that strenuous. Can anyone with experience on this excursion please let us know? Thanks!
Wildlife and nature-enthusiasts will enjoy this adventurous airboat journey into Florida’s natural swamps. Skim across the grassy marsh at speeds of nearly 40 miles per hour and fly over wide-open lakes. Your airboat navigates places other watercraft can’t go. You’ll experience parts of Florida that are hard to access! The airboat twists and turns through the calm dark waters of the narrow channels, eases into dense swamps, and darts through fields of water hyacinths. Your eco-guide boat captain will slow down to point out wildlife and allow you a chance to capture photos. Watch as alligators lurk in the wetlands and gracefully swerve their bodies into the water; soaring eagles float and dive in the sky; wading birds bathe, and wild hogs scramble. Your airboat comes within feet of them. Your tour then heads to an old-style, rustic Florida Fish Camp nestled on the banks of St. Jones River. Here you will see a wildlife presentation and learn about conservation efforts. Next, get a taste of some alligator jerky and listen as the live country music band plays. PC06

Now that we can actually get to the cruise planner on the new site, do check your sailing for possible savings.  For our May sailing on Adventure refreshment package is $18pp/day (+ gratuity  of course)-regular price I've seen was $26, a BOGO 50% off on deluxe drink package makes that $42pp/day instead of $52, classic soda with VOOM 1 device $21pp/day (not sure what regular price was. Not everything is a great deal though-one of the excursions we booked at $63pp is now $94pp, although some other excursions do show savings. Certainly worthwhile to check.

    I've been wondering the same....

The omelette line is at least 10 people deep most times. Hubby hasn't even bothered.

I think it is so cute how you always call him "hubby". I don't recall seeing his actual name during this entire fantastic blog. Did I miss it? Can you share? :1_grinning:

It wouldn't be dumb at all! Entertainment is highly subjective too, just like food. But we did love it. Now I need to see Cats from Oasis to complete it. Such a shame Symphony is showing Hairspray.

I agree. Another GREAT must see show is Million Dollar Quartet.  I was hoping for that on Symphony, but I think I read that it is being performed on another cruise line. The story line is about people you are too young to know much about (Jerry Lee Lewis, Johnny Cash, Carl Perkins and, of course, Elvis), but it is a fantastic show. The local theater productions are obviously smaller but as entertaining as Broadway.

Ending off the night with some thoughts about We Will Rock You.

We have now seen Hairspray, Mamma Mia, Grease, and now We Will Rock You on Royal Caribbean Ships.  All the shows have been good caliber, Broadway style shows.  If we had one complaint up until now, it would be the fact the the vocals (especially the leads) aren't as strong as one would hear on Broadway.  That changed tonight.  This was most definitely our most favourite show on any RC ship.  The musicians were amazing, so talented.  The entire cast had strong, vibrant voices.  Definitely a must see if you sail Anthem.  We are even thinking about seeing it again.  A warning to parents of young children.  There is some language in this show.  The cruise compass even says "Parental Guidance Advised".  Really, it's nothing school age children don't already hear on the playground.  I teach kids, I've been out there daily, I know.  A short conversation with your kids before or after is a good idea though.

The Quest is tonight.  That makes me sad.  It means our cruise is coming to an end soon.  Sailing back to NJ now....at sea for the next two days...

    Goodnight all.

I am sooo happy to hear how much you liked We Will Rock You. After all my raving about it, I'd have felt really dumb if you didn't like it! We went back a second time to see the finale again.

Stayed in the WJ so long that they rolled out lunch desserts...so I snapped a few pics before everything was picked through. Something for all of you to look at while you are having lunch at work ? don't hate me lol

Sabrina, I think it would be impossible for anyone to hate you. You are absolutely one of the nicest people I have never met!! I am certainly not alone in loving your review. Enjoy the rest of your cruise---and the We Will Rock You show.

Dinner time! CK and Spectra's Cabaret tonight.

Sabrina--Loving your blog. It is great. I think you will enjoy Spectra's Cabaret--very entertaining. Assuming they are still doing their We Will Rock You production, make sure to see that. We sailed Anthem in 2016 and that was the highlight of all entertainment. It is truly as good as a real Broadway show.

Also, a quick request please. We are sailing Adventure out of Cape Liberty in May and the first stop is Cape Canaveral. We were think of getting the Kennedy Space Center excursion also. However, ship is not scheduled to arrive until noon and according to the website KSC closes at 6. Please let us know if you agree that this will not leave enough time to make it worthwhile. Thank you so much and enjoy your cruise!!

Quick update - Mercedes has replaced Casey as Adventure Cruise Director

    1 hour ago, Sabrinaklai said:

Word on CC is that he left RC today for Celebrity....

Great job Kayla, thanks. Nobody would blame you if you want to spend more time enjoying your cruise and less on the review :6_smile:  However, would you please try to find out how long Mercedes' contract is? We are sailing in May and just curious who we may have. Frankly, we are kind of happy it won't be Casey.  We had him on Adventure last year and we are not fans. Other than emceeing some shows, we did not see him at all the entire week. His morning show was bland and boring. Wish him, his wife and new baby the best, but glad we will not have him as CD again. Now, if we could only get Abe Hughes again....love that guy!

No matter what, I am sure we will love the cruise just like we always do. Oh, and thanks for the update Sabrina.
