Will most likely do the snowbird thing.  Our pension travel medical insurance covers us for 90 days each trip.  Head south after Canadian Thanksgiving.  Come back for Christmas and then head out again after New Years.

A lot of airports here in the US have COVID testing on site now. Hopefully that will help.

Another hurdle for Canadians considering international travel.  Travelers will have to obtain a negative PCR test before arriving back to Canada.  Will Royal offer PCR tests and their own lab onboard on their ships?

Never has heart disease, aspirin overdose, falling down stairs, etc, put the kind of pressure on hospitals where patients had to be put into hospital gift stores due to lack of actual hospital rooms in which to put patients.  You cannot compare an infectious disease to other most other medical problems.  In all of my years doing 911 I don't remember ever running out of ambulances so often or having so many hospitals tell them to divert because they were full, and they can't find anywhere to divert to.  That's the core of the problem.

Heart disease is the result of personal choices made consistently by an individual over several decades.
Covid-19 is highly contagious and will take you out within a month, through no fault of your own.

Got a notice by text this evening that anyone over 65 that wants to be vaccinated only has to call and make an appointment. There is apparently a 1 week lead time.  Surprised that they are getting to us so quickly.

It is perfectly normal to have questions and concerns regarding the vaccine.  This is new to all of us.  I directed my questions to my pharmacist.  He was able to answer most of my concerns.

Count Dan and me in that specific "anti-COVID" anti-vax group.  We are very trusting vaxers in all other cases but there are just too many unanswered questions about the COVID vax at this point.  Perhaps most of these questions are just conspiracy theories...only time will tell.  We will definitely NOT be among those who are jumping to the front of the line to get it.  Will we get it, in the end, just to be able to cruise ?  Unknown, at this point.

A waste of deck space

Just got approved here in Canada..168,000 doses by end of December...drop in the bucket as that's a 2 step vaccine....but its a start...gives us about 250,000 doses from Pfizer and Moderna(enough for 125,000 people)
 
Positive news....but now we need this rolled out in large numbers!

95% effectiveness is based on trial numbers of becoming "sick" or symptomatic.  This means you could still become infected and spread it.  That is why masks will still be required in the early releases of the vaccine.  Once the population has been vaccinated or we see a huge drop in COVID hospitalization, is when masks may not be mandatory.  So in theory, if the majority of the population gets vaccinated, it will eventually work towards herd immunity.
 

You missed my point....you asked can RC expect things the answer is no they can only hope! They like the taxi drivers or bus companies, the small cafe you get lunch, hotels, airlines, bars and restaurants,basically every business going cannot expect people to use them they can only hope! 
Its not these companies setting the rules or guidelines its the CDC or local governments who are saying this or that must be done.
The cost is irrelevant if people dont sail cruiselines close their doors which is the same for local cafes or taxi companies if people dont use their services, so no RC cannot expect they can only hope.
If these companies say we are not operating until this virus is gone then they will go bust, companies must keep going best they can just to keep their doors open, and in doing this they need to follow guidelines whether we like it or not.
If we dont like it we don't do it....simple 
 
 

Getting emotional...
The first shots of the vaccine have been administered. THIS IS IT!!!  The tide has turned in the war against this Coronavirus!  Hoping this will fast track our return to cruising.
Praying against issues and complications.

#1 hurdle we will have to jump over is the 14-day quarantine when we return back to Canada.  Hopefully the pilot program for the fast-tracked quarantine rules is successful and is available throughout Canada. 
#2 is we will have to wait for the travel advisory by the Canadian Government against cruise travel to lift.  Namely to have coverage from our travel medical insurance provider to cover any medical emergency.  
My wife and I are still on the fence whether we will cruise if masks are mandatory.  We will have to explore other vacation options at the point in time.  From what we have witnessed thus far, the cruise industry will most likely be the last ones to be allowed to lift their mandatory mask rule.
