To book a cruise knowing of all the restrictions and measures RC and governments of ports of call have implemented then have to listen to fellow guests who signed up agreeing to all of the measures constantly complain about it.

We were on this one with you!   Not sure how you guys felt but we actually ended up enjoying the trip even with all the delays and changes, with Anthem being only half full, plus the compensation Royal gave us made it pretty nice!  Also opened us up to Bermuda to the point where that’s the next cruise we’re booking to try it out during their normal season.

YES !  We felt the same way about this cruise once we finally got under way.  Sitting around in Bayonne for 2 days sucked big time but the cruise itself was wonderful.  I loved that they let us get on the ship the night before we sailed so that we didn't have to endure another night in that dreadful hotel.  By some bizarre Royal Caribbean math, we actually ended up making money on that cruise !  Our OBC + FCC was more than the total that we paid for the cruise.  Go figure.  ...and those FCC's have been around !  I think they've already been applied and re-applied 3 times !  Since this was the first COVID-related FCCs that were issued, they were very generous.  Not so much after this one....

So it seems masks on land may be a requirement in some areas.

My travel agent has put together a sample itinerary with a company called Railbookers. They coordinate the trip and includes hotels and rail service.  It isn't cheap, but at 9 nights it might be a good option.  Still thinking it over.

Not entirely true. The issue isn’t solely the fact that you will be required to wear a mask. What about the fact that you could be stuck in your room awaiting your next reservation time slot for the pool or for your kids to ride the carousel? Personally my issue is hardly the masks. When I’m on vacation I expect total freedom in my decisions regarding how my family spends their day. I cannot imagine being forced into an excursion just to get off the ship for the day. I enjoy walking around the ports especially in St Maartin where we enjoy walking to the beach next to the ship and enjoying the day. I’m hopeful the protocol evolves into something less stringent before the masses set sail otherwise RC or any cruise line for that matter will be sailing w/o my family.

I can't wait to cruise again. I got my vaccine and I really don't care if I have to wear mask. Everywhere you go now , you have to wear mask. Hotels are same . I just don't understand people why are complaining . If you like cruising that will be same like going for dinner, hotels etc. At least it is so much more fun on cruise. I hope my July cruise will happened

Considering this forum is about Royal Caribbean cruises, I'd say it's spot on.
I certainly noticed and lamented my "one year since my last cruise" anniversary.

Yeah but this is a cruise forum.......

Feb 7 was a terrible anniversary for us.  It was the date of our last cruise (Anthem Feb 7, 2020).  Of course, that is the cruise that ended up being delayed by 3 days due to an erroneous COVID scare...so the true anniversary of our last boarding will be on Wednesday(Feb 10).  Hard to believe it's been a whole year.  This truly sucks.

Yeah, seems to be conflicting reports and studies..but as of Friday, Feb5 she stated that when asking about options for travelers who are vaccinated......and we all have to listen to her in Canada so it aint promising for anything changing anytime soon north of the border...

Will we get a discount on our fares? My cruises are already paid for and I did not pay for a cruise if I have to wear a mask. I have been tested and have been vaccinated and since i do not have the virus there is no way I can pass on the virus. I will not wear a mask anymore.

You’re still wearing masks in Cancun. Yes, it’s different rules than a ship hit Mexico is not some mask-free oasis. Any resort you look up requires masks in many circumstances.

Nothing concrete about this yet but it is one of the potential protocols being considered.

The "must purchase a cruiseline-provided excursion to leave the ship" rule is a lot more concerning to me than the mask requirement.  I have a hard time imagining taking a cruise (especially to Caribbean ports you can easily do yourself) under that kind of requirement.  

Optimistically (meaning if deaths and hospitalizations continue to drop precipitously... Which I think has to happen for ships to sail anyway even with all of these restrictions), I think at the end of the CSO we would probably see the first round of relaxations. Probably not all the way back to business as usual, but maybe a meaningful point somewhere between.

Yes, it is on my bucket list as well.  I just don't think it will happen in 2021.  For one thing, it isn't even listed anymore on Royal's website because the CDC won't allow cruises more that 7 days to be marketed through the end of October I believe.  Back to back cruises lasting 14 days however can be booked. 
Another problem with the Panama Canal cruise is that it stops in about 6 different countries-a logistical nightmare in the covid world.  I don't think I want to tackle those risks that soon.  Maybe in 2022.

I really hope your cruise on Radiance happens. A Panama Canal cruise is definitely on my bucket list. I got the opportunity to see the Mira Flores locks from the land side many years ago. It's impressive what the engineers were able to accomplish so long ago.
