Carlos A. reacted to PG Cruiser in Time to stop Unlimted Drink Plan?
I tried to make sense of what the OP was trying to say. Here's what I got:
The Unlimted (sic) Drink Plan, not to be confused with the Ultimate Dining Plan, causes excessive drinking that makes intoxicated cruisers become loud, obnoxious, annoying, angry, and get involved in fights. This causes everything to go awry on the ship on its inaugural sailing - new staff, shows, performers, dinner reservations, wait times, room service, much to the delight of bloggers, vloggers, youtube influencers and the author/moderator of this blog.
Did I get that right?

Carlos A. got a reaction from RCIfan1912 in Can Icon fit under the Varrazzano bridge?
A few years ago I remember seeing a lot of threads speculating and people saying that an Oasis class ship wouldn't fit under Verrazzano-Narrows Bridge...
I wonder what happened... 😉

Oh but this goes beyond a schmuck at the bar. This was a disaster and a health hazard. Nobody would have blamed you for causing a scene. And screw anyone who would. The problem now is while I never had this problem, I have read plenty of people say once home it's a harder fight. I would hit them by phone, email, letter etc all at once. You deserve so much more. 50% off next cruise minimum. Might have better luck settling for discounts over refunds with RC. There actually is a time and place for being a total and complete B**** lol. I really hope you get something out of them. What happened really stinks. No pun. Best of luck. Let us know.

With the health concerns of sewage exposure, really they should have refunded the rest of the cruise.

I third that you should get more - I'd say maybe 50% feels fair. If they knew you wanted to go back to the room you booked then they should have made the better efforts to make it habitable for your arrival BEFORE you moved back in. Not sure who best to contact about it once off ship (as I've never encountered problems in need of fixing) but maybe..juuuust maybe you can talk to the Concierge onboard to get help from the people on ship?

I think you deserve more than 20%. That covers the night you didn't spend in the suite, but not the other inconvenience.

It's not a balcony, it's a cabin with an opening window. They've had very mixed reviews on the Celebrity forums.

@Censored Well I tell ya, I am a Recovering Alcoholic. One of the ones who goes looking for the "Friends of Bill" meetings when I am on board. I have cruised both before and after I became sober and, when I was drinking, I cruised both with and without the DBP.
I can assure you cost of the drink had absolutely nothing to do with how much I drank or weather or not I got "drunk and obnoxious". The only thing having the DBP did for me was allowed me to get my drunk on without the worry of what my wife would say when we got the balance sheet being charged to our card on the last night. The getting drunk part was a foregone conclusion.
These days I call and get the DBP for my wife and I get the Refreshment package. You can do that if you call and tell them why. (Yes, I am in recovery and my wife drinks, it happens all the time) The DBP makes it easy and we don't worry about when or how many Margarita's she can have or how it will impact that balance sheet. We get on the ship and don't worry about anything till we pick up our luggage when we disembark.
It's called "Being on vacation" you might have heard of it.
Oh just a reminder..... your first post had nothing to do with the DBP..

Okay..I'm finally gonna do it..
@Censored...I've seen you at the helm of quite a lot of topics, which, at least to me, seem like "controversial" topics and I have to ask...why? Like...are you just looking for a place to vent your opinions? Are you trying to get under people's skins? Are you after conversation/discussion/ new view points? I'm genuinely curious...

You reacted with "Confused" to my reply. I'm sorry if I added to your confusion which is quite obvious from the very start with your original post.

I actually wouldn't until they made some minor modifications to lower the smokestacks. They had them down to move it from the shipyard, but the intent was to lock them in the up position after that, which they did. So they had to "unlock" them and I'm sure they added some automated system to raise and lower them.

Click bait? I have nothing to gain by getting followers in here. Nothing. Matt's opinion on seeing more drunken adults than misbehaving children was the issue. Is that click bait? I suggest you put me on block and do not follow me... thx

Seems the title was classic click bait so people would read the post. Strange axe to grind but everyone is entitled to their opinions. Other fun tags to get your post viewed next time "Royal Caribbean going out of Business" or "Coco Cay suffers the fate of Atlantis and sinks beneath the waves."

There seems to be a lot of hype on the new Icon of the Seas. Bloggers, vloggers youtube influencers and the author/moderator of this blog make statements like they cant wait to sail on it and no doubt will either be invited or make a reservation on this ship come this Wednesday Oct 25 when bookings begin. What many people fail to realize is that these first cruises are a "shake down" cruise. Not everything will run smoothly. It just won't , so dont expect it to. Not every thing will be open. Staff are new to the ship and still in learning mode. Shows, performers, last minute rehearsals, are all in test mode. Dinner reservations, wait times, room service will all be a challenge. Oh you might meet some famous people, top cruise line execs, and get to try out some new stuff., and of course you get the bragging rights that you were one of the first people to be on a inaugural voyage. For me the cons outweighs the pros. I can wait. I will wait.

Seems its a common occurrence to experience intoxicated cruisers aboard . They can become loud, obnoxious, annoying, angry, and get involved in fights. Personally I think this is due to the offering of the Unlimited Drink Plan. People simply want to take liberties and drink as much as they possibly can. Then come the consequences . Time to stop this plan or change it?

...wait but what does all of that have to do with stopping the unlimited drink plan....?

Carlos A. reacted to FSUFAN in The Key Priority Access Change
I am a RCL newbie and this is live from the Voyager of the Seas.
Boarding with the Key was a huge "cluster" this morning in Boston. We had a 10:30 check in plus the Key. Got to the terminal at 10:28. Per the rep at the Key line queue, the line was full and we needed to go to the end of the regular Boarding line. Well, we walked probably 150 yards, passing hundreds of people, the entire length of the terminal to get to the end of the line. I was fuming hot mad. We stood there for about 10 minutes not moving. I told Mrs Fan that I was going back to the Key line to see what was up. I ran into another rep and told her that we had the Key. She said follow me. So she walks us back to the Key line and the queue is nearly empty, but the rep we initially met was not letting anyone get in line. The second rep pulled her aside and kind of pushed us through. The entire time, the first rep was trying to keep Key purchaser's out of the Key line. Finally, she relented and Key purchasers started getting on board. She had been sending Key purchasers to the back of the main line for probably 30 minutes.
I have no explanation for her actions and I am still mad about it. Thank goodness for the second rep I met.

It is harder to get inside a Costco than enter or leave Mexico via a cruise ship.
