DunkelBierJay reacted to Jolly Ogre in Contact Royal Caribbean about this charging for pizza
Well I am pissed as I did not even get a voice in this. My last 2 sailings and my next are in suites. I am a Diamond C&A member and I did not even get the survey, I just happen to hear about it.
I was not even asked about it. So where is my voice?? What happens to those that do not follow this forum or youtube? None of them even get a say in the matter either.

While checking on a flight in the Delta app I read their “important info” section and it mentions renewals are taking over 11 weeks and expedited renewals are taking about 7 weeks.

This is exactly why I will try other lines if they do more of this kind of thing. Even if the other lines are nickle and diming, RCI will become less important in my choices if they charge for mediocre pizza.

Record earnings! Best quarter ever! You hear this and you think "Whew!" Maybe now they can stop the death by a thousand cuts that is killing my desire to book anything new. Nope! Let's see how fast and how far they can gut the core experience.
This company under Mr. Liberty has me very much questioning my loyalty to cruising in general. They are going to keep pushing this and in five years they are going to wonder why all the repeat business has dried up.

Dang...if I were a betting man, I would wager that beyond all of the frustration that you will find a way to beat them...ultimately, I hope you give the MEI TA a chance with a future booking. It was hard for me to let go of what I thought was control when I quit booking on my own. Ultimately I got more control with a whole lot less effort and angst. Good TAs earn their commission, which I think needs to be higher because of how much better they make their cruise line partners look.

If there is no availability, there is nothing that can be done. Unfortunately when you book a GTY rate, there is no way for them to really honor requests or promises for decks and views. You are at the mercy of a computer that assigns fairly randomly. I hate to be “that guy” but next time book with a good and reputable TA and this wouldn’t happen. It would have been fixed immediately. I’m a control freak when it comes to planning, but I learned the hard way to go the TA route for cruises. Sorry to hear this happened and hopefully something gets done in your favor

Not a big deal. Just do the muster steps that you can on the app before boarding and go to the station when you board.

DunkelBierJay got a reaction from Cactus527 in Central Park Balcony Questions
I stayed in a starboard side balcony facing port a couple decks above Chops and while there were times when direct sun hit, it was not frequent or predictable due to the heading of the ship, time of day and my desire not to overthink where it might have been. I just went to the pool deck for sun. The vibe of those balconies is serenity. Since you are heading west, sunrises will be aft maybe on the port'ish side in October. I don't predict that you will see a lot of direct sun. It will be shadowy except during the noon hour.

I did laugh a little bit at your post. The upgrade fairy barely visits the cruise lines. If you did even a smidge of research you know the CEO already believes the cruise line is giving too much away. Also that people are willing to pay $80k for a 7N cruise. Why would Royal offer anything for free?
I am part of the loyalty program and I get 2 days of free internet and discount on other things but it took a lot if cruises and well money to get these "upgrades/freebies." With ships at capacity, the odds of getting anything for free is less than zero. I also echo that having the perfect anything is a dream and a notion that's sets a person up for failure. Nothing in life is perfect.

DunkelBierJay reacted to ChessE4 in FreenPerks / Upgrades
For perks, I'd invest in more cruises for loyalty rather than more $$ on board. Sometimes best family experiences don't cost, eg, time at pool or beach, conversations with other guests, watching sunset at sea, catching a great show. I loved coffee card which is less than soda package. Last room upgrade we got was 10 years ago...

DunkelBierJay reacted to Pooch in FreenPerks / Upgrades
If you go into this expecting all the extra $$$ you dropped will ensure a perfect cruise, you may be sorely disappointed. Things can and will happen regardless of how many extras you’ve purchased. And no, expect no comp upgrades from Royal. If you want a better room, you’ll have to pay for it.

DunkelBierJay got a reaction from Neesa in FreenPerks / Upgrades
If you haven't already, you will probably get an email to bid up your room category under Royal Up. The likelihood of an upgrade falling in your lap or getting something just by asking is virtually nil whether you purchased the DP, excursions or other things or not. If you call Royal to ask this question, the CSR may be confused and will probably offer a revised cruise fare with a higher category cabin. If you haven't hit final payment date and the price lowered, you might be able to rebook at the lower rate. The costs for those extra items stand on their own.
If you decide to build status in the C&A society, perks are available on an increasing basis with more nights at sea building your points, but that's about it. Many regulars on this forum swear by using a travel agent which can garner a little more on board credit or allow you to book into a group rate if their agency has a block. While the marketing can be a bit confusing, the pricing and execution are pretty straightforward.
and no offense...I lol'd when I read that you will call and ask what they can offer. There are some businesses in Caribbean ports who will bargain, but RC won't.
