You're not wrong. It's easier and you're also not potentially exposing yourself to Covid by going to a pharmacy where others are there to get a test likely not because they're going on a cruise.

Ha! I've had covid a couple of times along with my household, despite doing all the things, so at this point, I don't care anymore...I'm just really lazy, and going a mile to Walgreen's sounds like torture to me.....

  2. So, I learned this last night after talking to a couple EMTs who came to take my neighbor to the hospital for pneumonia last night. 1...if a C19 diagnosis is two weeks old, she doesn't have an active infection for it...2...it's very common for PCR tests to show positive for months even after recovery has occurred, and there is no active virus...3...many times for elderly, there are secondary infections (like my neighbor's)...4...this was new info to me...if you take a PCR test that shows negative when you take it, then within days or weeks, you take another, many times it will show positive...I don't completely understand that except that the mRNA feature of the PCR can apparently leave traces and spoof the virus....I think this makes sense with all the false positives I keep hearing about.

You did it via the Royal Caribbean app and there was no option to enter your passport info? You should see 4 options: Travel info, arrival time, vaccination, health & safety

Thanks for that...after looking again, I see that I overlooked that step...I am not sure why or how I jumped over it to the vax card upload, because I was looking for it. I will say that the workflow was a little strange in that I initially uploaded my card into my wife's profile...so I think it could be improved.

Instead of uploading a photo of your passport (scanning the bottom) were you prompted to enter your passport number and expiration date?

Nothing like that...I thought maybe there would be another step after the CDC card was verified, but there isn't one. The next step in my app is the wellness check for the day before embarkation.

  5. Check-on for our February cruise opened a couple days ago, and I checked my wife and I in. The process was different than I remember (it's been too long), and the only step we needed to take was to upload our "government papers" proving compliance with directives. That's all there was...I was really hoping for the satisfaction of uploading the passport image and taking the pic, but that wasn't part of this new process...is that everyone else's experience?

Thanks for this. However, after traveling last week without the kids on Liberty, we were pretty discouraged by what we saw as far as how the kids were being treated. We have a cruise scheduled for March, and our youngest will still be ineligible for vaccination - so we are likely to cancel unless protocols change. In addition to the perception of the 'dirty, dirty unvaccinated people' restrictions, in general the children on our cruise were looked on as lepers and with disgust by many of the other traveling guests - I will NOT be putting my children through that. We asked around to some of the moms on the ship with kids, and I was very disappointed to hear what the experience has been like for their kids. So, we'll wait.

This saddens me beyond belief...thank you for sharing this

  7. I intended to stay around the Waterfront or Ybor City the night before my February cruise, but rates are a minimum of $400 including taxes everywhere I looked except for a VRBO place near the port that weekend. There is some sort of international volleyball tournament in town that weekend.

I am currently booked at the Airport Marriott, but don't really want to stay there because...it's...at the airport...if we were getting in at night, I would be all about it, because it is incredibly convenient. So, I am looking for ideas elsewhere without going to St Pete or Clearwater.

Does anyone have any ideas for a hotel outside of the Waterfront/Ybor area I could consider?

  8. I've seen the Key range in price from $19.99 a day to $34.99 a day. It was worth it to me to try it at $19.99, but since you have to buy it for everyone in the cabin, unless both are heavy VOOM surf and stream users, personally, I am not really into it. I think if they make it more like the Faster to the Fun product Carnival offers, it might have more merit, but RC would have to limit how many they sell.

I got to thinking about this last night and made the same comment to my wife about the vaccine requirements - that they must be enacting some sort of spacing so they can add more unvaccinated guests. Maybe it'll wind up being like the shows currently - some cabins / sections designated as vax only, other areas being "general population" rooms?

My thought is that with all the breakthrough cases being reported that they are creating an answer before the issue gains more momentum.

and personally, regarding the company's tracking of 141 cases out of 500k guests...it says to me that those who had the infection and did not report it (or didn't know they had it) were operating like things were before. I can't say for sure, but before March 2020, if I had a cold or something a few days after a cruise, was it because something spread or I was just run down. (I did get pretty sick a week or so after a November 2019 sailing on Symphony). All of this cat herding is so old, I can't even.....at least RC is managing the problem as well as they can at this point. I just hope they can start making money again soon.
