Deep breaths. I am a 46 year local and my best advice is to not fall victim to the media hype machine and never ever trust the spaghetti hurricane models! Port and airport impacts would be your biggest issue as the ships reroute for big storms and for the most part do a great job of keeping you in the sun & fun. I wouldn’t (and don’t) hesitate to book cruises in hurricane season. All the stars would have to align to ruin your vacation and I would consider that low probability.

I barely got to eat in the WJ (of which I'm a fan) on Wonder last week b/c my extended family aren't fans but I did try the "Philly Burger" one day. It was just provolone and grilled onions, not exactly revolutionary toppings, but it was a perfectly decent burger. I don't think I've gone near one of the plain burgers sitting out in over 15 years but I would try the burger of the day again.

    Bing! Bing! Bing! WINNER!!!
    Absolute truth and agree 100%
Royal Caribbean is very much an elementary school for aspiring future 5 star patrons.

There is absolutely no part of Royal Caribbean that is “5 star” from the interior cabins to the star class suites. If you are looking for a true 5 star experience then you need to book Regent or Ritz. Global supply chain issues (still) force large companies to source supplies from avenues they normally don’t go down. If an ihop logo on a sugar packet is a deal breaker then you need to cough up some more dough (like 10x) and sail premium lines because the mid tier is going to continue to disappoint you.

I’m a bit lost here.  I do not think I have ever noticed the label on a sugar packet.  I cannot really think of anything other than white, yellow, or pink.  In short, if the package contains sugar, why would anyone care what the package looks like?

I already mentioned agreeing on the MDR portion size. That's one of the reasons my wife and I haven't liked it for a long time (well before any covid/menu changes). We've mostly been WJ people with a couple specialty dinners thrown in. So since we seem to have similar opinions...
Give CK a try. We were in our first ever GS last year on Harmony and enjoyed it (think we ate there 3-4 nights out of 7). The night one filet was excellent. Some nights weren't as good. It's not specialty dining but it was much better than the MDR in our opinion. We'll be in another GS Sunday on Wonder (courtesy of my in laws) and we're eating there every night (their preference but I'm not complaining).
I'll wind up heading off to have some extra snacks/meals elsewhere (sometimes my wife or niece will tag along just to see what the WJ has or whatever) but my wife's family is used to me eating more than anyone so it's fine.
They also like to have breakfast in CK every morning and that was good too. I get up early so I usually have something from Park Cafe or WJ with my morning cappuccino and then have my 2nd breakfast later with them.

I agree re: MDR. The portions are way too small and the food quality has taken a turn for the worse. I no longer find it worthy of 1.5 hours of our time. The windjammer or speciality dining seems to be a better fit for my family. Interestingly enough, we stay in sky class and never really considered dealing with the coastal kitchen which might be decent.

I would say you have a better chance of spotting a pink flamingo in the glaciers of Alaska… These days Royal Up to suite level is fantasy.

I found your post while trying to set my expectations on how early I might win one of my Royal Up bids (offered 2 months before our sail date).  That ship is the Odyssey, so was really happy to see your comment about it! 🙂

I have been on both. Odyssey is a great ship and the itinerary is what closed the deal for my family & I. Odyssey has plenty to do and also some amazing entertainment. The music hall on Odyssey is the best in the fleet IMHO. I wouldn’t hesitate to sail the ship and route again.

Exactly! The C&A benefits are the icing on the cake. I personally think the program is very generous and the daily drinks for D and above is something you don’t see out of the other mid tier lines.

I guess one of the advantages of booking casino comps is that you must pay the entire balance at the time you book so there’s no need to worry about final payment.
