Sounds like too much trouble to me...vbg....I'll meet you at the pool, casino, buffet, spa, running track, putt putt,  MDR, Library, Atrium Bar, etc.    I know we can find something else to do.

Just disembarked from Rhapsody of the Seas and we had coffee and Continental served every morning at NO CHARGE.  If you order a Breakfast MEAL....they do charge you a service charge but the food is still free.  BTW....they were serving some of the best coffee!

You can get it off your chest here....but I have a feeling that there isn't a single person here that has any power to help you.   YOU need to contact RCCL directly.   THEY have the power to rectify your displeasure...if you are willing to cooperate with them.  Learned a long time ago...the person yelling the loudest is most likely in the wrong.  Good Luck with your endeavors.

It appears that you already KNOW what to eat and what not to eat.  As dining should be,  moderation in everything.  You don't need to order extra appetizers, two entreés just because they are available at no charge in the MDR.    RCL offers sugar free desserts and they are plainly labeled on the menus and at the buffets.  If you feel you have over indulged, they head upstairs to the walking track and hit it for fifteen twenty laps.  Bon Voyage and Bon Appétit!!

Recently, Dan and I were on a cruise and eating in the Windjammer.  There was a couple next to us with 2 small children.  The table was a complete wreck !  There was food on the floor everywhere and I said to Dan - "this is why they charge gratuities for children !".  I feel terrible for whoever had to clean up that mess.

Will you be using 2 or 4 people's worth of towels that need washing?  How about sheets/beds/sofabeds that need making and setting up and taking down twice a day?  Will only 2 people create trash?  Will only 2 of you need to be served in the dining room?  Should I continue?

That has got to be the most hilarious thing I have read today.  As if people buy insurance planning on using it.
"Gee, I didn't buy life insurance because I didn't plan on dying soon."
"Gee, I didn't get car insurance because I didn't plan on crashing it."
"Gee, I didn't get homeowner insurance because I didn't plan on that tornado hitting."
I love how people think that their excuse should exclude them from the rules and how horribly shameful it is that they are treated exactly like everyone else.  To the point of joining a forum just to complain.  Nope, family member being diagnosed does NOT make a difference.  Nope, your fixed income does NOT make a difference.  This is a sad situation, but one that was preventable.  Your failure to prevent the financial loss is nobody's fault but your own.
Best of luck to your family member, I do sincerely hope for a happy outcome there.

I have cruised with Royal Caribbean 4 times and I booked on the phone with a royal Caribbean representative 3 times and 1 time online and I have always received the confirmation email along with the confirmation page and request pdf email page for all 4 of my past cruises. I even have 3 future cruises which I had booked 2 of my future cruises over the phone with a royal Caribbean representative and booked the third one on the royal Caribbean website and I even received a confirmation booking email with the confirmation page email pdf’s for all 3 of my future cruises soon after I had paid the deposit for each of my future cruises. If you would like a confirmation pdf receipt emailed to you then call Royal Caribbean and give them your reservation number (if you wrote it down) or if you did not write down your reservation number you can also tell them with your name, sail date and ship name so that they can lookup your cruise and tell them that you did not receive an invoice when you booked your cruise, and request that they email you a copy of that cruise’s invoice so that you have it for your records that the cruise has been paid booked and the remaining balance has been paid (if your cruise has been paid in full).

From experience I can tell you that it’s a fool’s errand to try and coordinate a big group for dinner.  Traditional dining is the best bet so it’s a shame you weren’t able to get that scheduled.  Since that didn’t happen I would just show up with whatever group is there and get as many seated together as you can.  You may have to wait a bit for a big table but I have learned to just let everyone do their own thing. It’s a nightmare trying to coordinate everyone. I never  do it anymore.

That's not true.  If you have the coffee card or drink package, gratuity is included so when you buy a drink with either, there is no additional tip assessed.
There is a line for additional tip, but it clearly states that it is gratuity above and beyond what's already included.

Understood. I guess I was a bit confused based on the title of this thread that you had a concern that you needed travel insurance specifically for travelling to Cuba.
I'm going to tag @Christie because she mentioned a medical-only travel insurance option that I was not aware of (instead of travel insurance that covers medical and travel delays/cancellations).
FWIW, I personally use Allianz for my travel insurance.  About to put my first claim in with them, so it remains to be seen how good their service is.

The specialty dining debate is as old as the dress code for formal night in the MDR.   My take on it is you are already paying for the food in the MDR.  Why would you want to pay twice for a meal?  Is the food that much better than the food you already paid for?  Not in my opinion but then again,  you know what they say about opinions!

It is a $30 meal that should sell for 8 bucks at any restaurant.   There is nothing, NOTHING special about the food.  We dined Sabor on FOS and they could remove the sign and open a French restaurant in thirty minutes.   They wouldn't need to change the decor because there isn't any identifiable Mexican decor...just another room to dine in.  Everyone was oooh...and aaahing over the tableside guacamole being prepared.  I guessed they didn't get out much to Mexican restaurants.

WHStoneman reacted to melski94 in Do you always do an onshore excursion at each stop?
You don't have to go on an excursion on every port.  Many of us will chose one port and enjoy the quiet of the ship or just walk around the shops at the pier.
Matt has done many blog posts about excursions especially in Labadee and Cozumel.  There is a search button at the top of the home blog.
Labadee, Haiti is the RC's private island.  You can walk around and enjoy the beach and food all for free.  There are additional excursions available if you desire.
Cozumel has shopping at the pier and very easy to walk around town.  Many of us will jump in a taxi to go to an all inclusive beach.  Nachi Cocum is a favorite of many without kids.
Jamaica- walk around the pier shopping area or go on an RC excursion.

It seems everyone today wants to be offended by something as well as get something for nothing - this is a perfect storm for that. If I remember the article it only lasted 1 minute of time before they were able to upright the ship again. It would have been scary yes but what else could they do. As you stated you take a risk whenever you step on anything mechanical including flying. It happens...and that's all I am have to say about that.

Just double checking that y'all HAVE been to the Lamanai ruins in Belize?  I'm about to go my THIRD TIME!
Costa Maya- Have done Maya Chan and the Tropicante in Mahahaul along the Malecon.  Maya Chan is a very laid back all-inclusive day trip.  Beach, chairs, some water toys, drinks, food, transportation...all included.  Great for wanting to get away from it all.  We had a great time there.  Malecon/Tropicante.....Getting to the Malecon is a short taxi ride and it's like along the "strip."  Lots of restaurants, stores, shops, etc along the Malecon.  Steve at the Tropicante will take a reservation for your party for chairs/tables/etc provide you purchase drinks/food from the Tropicante which is EXCELLENT.
Either place is a good time just a little bit different atmosphere.
One thing about Costa Maya and both places above....seagrass CAN be an issue and you never know until you get there.  The times I have been there....it's been perfect.  But Ive seen pictures of it covering the beach many times...JFYI.

We took Rhapsody to those locations in 2017.
In Belize, we bused inland for the Jaguar Paw Cave Tubing excursion and had a great time. The excursion inner-tubed us on a guided tour through the Jaguar Paw Caves and the views were amazing. Fantastic rock formations, stalagmites, and even waterfalls followed by a very tasty lunch of jerk style chicken.
In Costa Maya, we took a combo Snorkeling and Beach Day excursion at a nearby resort. Waters were rough that day, but, the underwater views were great followed by a few hours of beach time including lounge chairs and an open bar. The only thing extra we had to pay for was lunch, which was delicious!
Both of these were available through the Cruise Planner.
