However low the odds, we did get caught by Hurricane Dorian in August/September of 2019, aboard Anthem on a Northeast Coast and Maritime Canada cruise.  We sailed from Cape Liberty, and watched the weather channel all week. The skipper kept us updated and shared possible contingencies if we were impacted.   Ultimately, the storm was catching up to us the day before we were to return to Cape Liberty.  He raced to get around and past the storm, and we arrived in port the evening prior to our scheduled arrival to hide out the storm.  And to make it up to us, he gave us the tour of a lifetime up the Hudson River. 
My point is, these ships are huge, weather predicting and tracking is incredible, and they just do whatever it takes to let the cruise continue, even though the itinerary may change a little.  In spite of this storm, this was a wonderful cruise.

The chances are very small of a hurricane affecting operations at the peak of the season. They are incredibly low in the first week of the season.

They're raising prices because people keep paying the prices. Like any good business would do.

So I guess I'll be the first person to say that you should stay in the city. Jersey City and Hoboken would be my second choice, and are both nice to stay in...but I personally would just stay in Manhattan itself. You'll have plenty of time in the morning/early afternoon to get out of the city and to the port. 

I booked a trip for myself and 3 other guest in July. On my booking it gave me until March to add more guests. I wanted to wait to make sure my husband wanted to come before I added names to my reservation. 
 
Fast forward to January, I was going to add my people now that my husband had confirmed. Now they are saying I can’t unless I pay to add people. So currently they have me booked for an almost $1500 cruise, and they have me listed as the only guest. They will not budge on letting me add my people even though I booked for 4 people. Now I’m feeling like I’m going to have to sue and just recoup my lawyer fees, my money back,  plus punitive damages because this trip was booked for a family member of mine they have an autoimmune disease and we are all supposed to join her for this birthday. This is really stressing me out. 
 
Has anyone had this issue where they refuse to honor something THEY put on their website? 
 
 

 

Disagree. 2.5 hours at DFW is an absolute eternity. The train is super quick with multiple stops at each terminal with frequent service in both directions. I've ever traveled with someone in a wheelchair from two of the gates that are furthest apart and it took like 25 minutes. By myself, I can get from pretty much any gate to any other gate within 12-15 minutes. Granted, I am quoting gate-to-gate and not seat-to-seat, but even if it takes 15 minutes to unload the plane, you still have ages of time.

Smoke signals, although not specifically banned in cruise contract, are likely frowned upon while on ship or private islands. 
Carrier pigeons are also questionable. 

Lots of airports are easy.

Fair enough but if there is a cancellation most airlines will still let you route to LAX or SNA. 

I've flown out of LGB too, but my hesitation in recommending it is because if there's a delay/cancellation, there aren't a huge amount of other options like you would have at LAX. I won't fly in/out of LGB in the winter because of it. However, the airport is AMAZING, definitely love the casualness of it!

Living in Raincouver this desire is hard to comprehend lol. I love the hot sunny Caribbean days. Book an April/May or September Alaska cruise and you are almost guaranteed some rainy dreary day.

But it can be expensive..165 per adult, if you have a few kids at 135 each... expediting it? Add more... You're looking at over 7-800 for a family of 4. That can be a lot to tack on after booking a trip that already cost you a few grand. Especially if you don't plan on traveling regularly.  A cruise,once a year or even less just might not be worth it to some families.  We travel with just our Birth certificates, we are getting passports after our next cruise, but it's not something everyone would find necessary 

I think it would be a brilliant idea. Nuclear power has changed drastically over the decades and is safe, efficient, and creates incredibly little waste. Definitely the way we should be looking towards on land as well.

My point was to the OP complaining about paying "more" as a single, adding on to your comment that one is paying for the room as a whole. I was AGREEING with you, but you seem to have missed that point.
Yes, the cruise industry DOES work that way. There is a minimum cost for the ROOM and you pay the full price whether there is one person in that room or two (C&A 340+ points is the exception). The difference between cruise cabins and hotel rooms comes into play when you add a third person (or more) to a room. The cruise fare is discounted, a hotel room is (typically) no additional charge.

What port?  In most, I'll just use Lyft/Uber, but they aren't available in all countries.
