Are you notified when your cabin is ready (e.g. by text) or do you have to keep checking the cabin yourself? It's a long time since we've cruised!

Go to the MDR and ask or look for someone on the Promenade holding The Key sign. Lunch should be available until 1:30pm.

There should be a sign at one of the restaurants that says key lunch.  Normally around the same time as Windjammer opens around 11:30 or a little after.  Plenty of crew just inside as you board stop and ask, they'll be glad to help you.

I booked free tests for 2 different Walgreens in case one would cancel us for some reason. Worked out great this morning. Results emailed in less than 2 hours!

I think the location depends on the ship. You'll get info for the breakfast on board. we always walk off with our luggage. Take it to breakfast and then they escort you off when ready. One of the best Key perks.

I believe it is the standard time from maybe around 6:30 to 8:30am but it is usually held in specialty venue. The Windjammer is a madhouse on embarkment day.

One of the best features of the Key if you are going to walk off with luggage is the breakfast. The menu is a small step up from the standard MDR breakfast menu. Your luggage will sit under guard while you eat. Then you just finish up and leave. Easy Peasy!

Fredsbabe reacted to Matt in What can you access on RC's "free" WiFi?
You can connect to the wifi and then only use the Royal Caribbean app.
When you go to connect the wifi, you will get two options. One is to just use the app.

Harmony appears to be the only ship at Coco Cay on 8/22/22 at this moment...
There are a number of sites to check out including, but certainly not limited to:

Fredsbabe reacted to PPPJJ-GCVAB in Beach Beds on South Beach?
Yes there are beach beds.  They are located on the further right side (when facing the water) after the cabanas.  There are 10 cabanas which begin right after the chairs/umbrellas section and the beds are lined up after them.
  13. Thanks
Fredsbabe reacted to SpeedNoodles in Cabin Key
You will usually get a Sea Pass card once your cabin is available (like a credit card or hotel card) - it will be on your cabin door.  Until you have access to your cabin you use your SetSail pass to purchase anything on the ship or to identify you to staff (particularly useful for those who have the deluxe beverage package!).  The documents y ou get are the ones you are able to access.  There will be nothing else.

I have a South Beach bed rented for my May 1st cruise. I usually always try to get a Coco Beach Club pass because I love the lunch menu. Inside the club, there are a few beach beds available by the pool, but they are always taken…and away from the beach.
But recently I have been doing beach beds at Breezy Bay on Chill Island. They are so much more comfortable than the loungers.
The first time, the bed location was assigned and it was in the second row. I’m glad I got that over the first row…I prefer the increased perception of privacy as there are not people constantly passing right in front of me on the beach, and some people think the two loungers in front of the bed are open and have to be told they can’t use them.
Last week, the beds were ‘first come, first served’ and I knew I didn’t have to rush because I would pick the second row again. Got there late, and there were still a couple available in the first row.
I like the Breezy Bay beds because there is a restroom, a bar and a snack shack very close by…steps away. Plus, the servers are pretty much making the rounds most of the time.
I’ll see how I like the South Beach beds this time. Always up for trying something new!

I was there last week and saw them on South Beach so they are still there.  Im not sure about preference- I loved all the beaches and the beds looked nice and comfortable.

Fredsbabe reacted to Ampurp85 in What activities are NOT available while in port?
Certain specialty restaurants will be closed, if isn't Coco Cay, the casino will be closed. There may not be trivia, shows etc. because they expect a lack of people. However activities like the flowrider, ziplining etc. should be open.

Fredsbabe reacted to silenttuba in What activities are NOT available while in port?
I just got back from a 7 day Bahamas cruise. We stayed on the ship for the most part during our port day in Port Canaveral, and had a half day excursion in Nassau, so spent a large part of the day on the ship that day, too. I don't really think there were activities that were unavailable, but there were less things being offered during the day (like trivia, game shows, etc). Pretty much everything else was open, and the port days were the only times when things like iFly and the NorthStar had complimentary sessions you could book.
  19. Thanks
Fredsbabe reacted to CrimsonCruiser in What activities are NOT available while in port?
In addition to what the others are saying about the casino being closed and there being less activities on board, I've also noticed more of the shops will be closed - primarily the more expensive ones.
But! Spa sessions in port are discounted so that's nice.

Being seniors and traveling alone, we can't wait to be away from the Internet since we can't seem to get away from it at home. The first few times that we cruised, texting did not even exist and somehow we survived. If there is an emergency at home, our loved ones know what ship we're on and how to contact us. Looking forward to being "independent" on the Independence!

Water bottles with filters...Brita, for example. Load them with ice and as much water as you can, and they filter as you drink. No need to carry on bottles or to buy canned water on the ship.
