I have no sympathy.  I’m not even considering an Alaska cruise and I knew the policy for sailings out of Seattle.  Each of us has a responsibility to find out what travel documents are needed anytime we travel.  If you choose not to take the time, it’s on you.

My issue with this, beside the obvious as stated in the comments above, is the news media practically salivating over these stories….’left to fend for themselves’…what, were they abandoned in a forest filled with wolves? …’trip of a lifetime’…isn’t that what they always say? …’fixed incomes. And they FRANKLY can’t afford to stay the night in Seattle and then fly home early to Illinois’ …what are they, penniless and laying in the gutter? …’They will work to be made whole by Royal Caribbean’…yeah, make sure you keep pushing the victimization narrative. It’s such a shame that agenda-driven so-called journalists can’t even google information and report the facts. Whatever happened to fair and balanced…or even just reasonable common sense? Nope. Gotta get eyeballs on the story.

One key thing is if you're on prescription medication, always pack a couple extra days of meds just in case.

PetraElise got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in Surprise! Carnival started testing AND masks. Are masks next for Royal?
I believe it is a real possibility.  I’m sure they are holding off and evaluating the data from the cruises that have already sailed, but with the Delta variant, I’m guessing the data looks less promising for no mask protocols.

I do get emails for the sales, but not every time, and usually after I’ve already found out about it elsewhere, or by checking the planner

The process for b2b on Adventure was
Go to MDR Get antigen test Wait for results Get called by name to get checked in for next sailing Go down to deck 1, check out of cruise 1 and scan in for cruise 2 (you never leave the ship, just get close to the gangway where they scan your cards).

PetraElise reacted to HBCcruiser in Water depth - floating cabinas
The tide goes in and out quite a bit when you are in the floating cabanas. When we first got there I could stand and I am 5’ 7” tall. By the afternoon there was no way I could touch the bottom. The sting ray photo was taken in the afternoon. You WILL want water shoes because the bottom is vey soft mud-like. Also, there are sea creatures on the bottom that you do not want to step on. We had Cabana #20.

Does anyone actually pay attention to the “ % off” numbers?  I just pay attention to the average cruise planner price for what I’m interested in, and buy when it goes low enough.  So far, that has worked ok for me, and other than casually watching to see if anything drops lower than what I’ve paid, my planning is done.  I was excited to see that South Beach opened up for my AOS sailing, so switched one reservation over to that area, but same price

PetraElise got a reaction from JimnKathy in So with new test requirement, what will you do (if anything) to increase chances of testing negative?
We are being extra cautious starting this week, for our sailing later this month.  We generally still mask in stores, etc, but we are really looking forward to our B2B and don’t want to risk it not happening.  So finishing up any errands that need doing in the next two days, and then it will just be groceries until we leave.

Both our AOS sailings in August had the over the water cabana priced at $1899.  ?. When they dropped to $999 after never being below $1699, we jumped on it.  Sharing with friends, and super excited

We booked a car, for a little bit over the cab rate.  A small splurge but happy that we will have someone waiting for us to take us to the hotel, after a VERY long day coming from the West Coast with a 6:30am departure and late afternoon arrival in Nassau

It’s true the data indicates surface transmission is not the issue as we first feared at the beginning.  But, even before covid, I definitely preferred my cabin to be sanitized between passengers.  And whether you think the hazmat suit is theater, that’s your call, but the crew actually in the situation may feel differently.

Maybe they did, maybe there is more to how they ended up with bracelets.
It's an unfair situation.  Royal can't tell their side.  All we have is the account of a nut job.  I am not assuming her claim that they "accidently" were given bracelets as factual.

    1) Had she cooperated and taken the 2nd test, she MIGHT have been able to stay on-board.
    2) She K-N-E-W what the bracelets were for and that she did not qualify to have one. Her friend was vaccinated and got a wristband and likely in some confusion (new processes, remember) she was likely given one (can't speculate why or how). Could her friend, theoretically, given her the bracelet? Who knows... Either way she K-N-E-W she shouldn't have had the bracelet and should have had her card punched. But, she didn't do the right thing and explain the mistake and get it resolved. Personal responsibility  seems to have gone away in spades in the last year, look at the problems on airlines recently.

This is a perfect example of "Always do the right thing even when no one is looking". Maybe it's just me, but if I see a store make a mistake and forget an item on my receipt, I will actually take time and go back and get it fixed and pay what I owe. I see a shopping cart half-way across a parking lot, I return it. All inconvenient for me, but I try do my part to help make this world a better place. This story is the opposite of that.
