Just had 3 of 8 scheduled Covid tests (rapid PCR) get cancelled by CVS. Did my due diligence and scheduled them 2 weeks out and got everything squared away. Now I’m scrambling to find alternative testing sites in the area. Doesn’t help that 0 testing sites are giving tests on 12/31 or 01/01 (I checked all of them weeks ago when appointments opened). Cruise boards on 01/03.
Also, we can’t do the proctored tests because we have unvaccinated kids under 12. Luckily only the adults got cancelled at this point. Really is a mess trying to get tested with the proper non-antigen test in the 1 day window for testing the holiday crams us into. Praying we get results back on time as there’s literally no room for error or other alternatives I can think of for our situation.
Got adult tests rescheduled. Just wanted to post this story to help others, might want to schedule a “backup” test. 🙄

If it's due to marriage, bring a copy of the marriage certificate. If it was for any other reason, bring a copy of whatever legal documentation was given her at the time of name change -- there has to be paperwork showing the change.
Other option, depending on where she got vaccinated -- see if they will give her a duplicate card with new name -- but she'd still likely need to show legal documentation to show why there's a different name.

We haven't spoken to our pediatrician yet, but don't plan for our kids to be early adopters. Cancelled one recent cruise already over the fact that kids are only half welcome onboard, and our next (now first) one as a family is at the end of May. Thing 1 will have just turned 5 for that one, so we're definitely staying tuned.

I'm really hoping they don't create any new pediatric vaccine requirements. My kids pediatrician has already recommended against vaccinating my kids 7, 8yo so mine won't be unless his recommendation changes. I'm going to assume he's not the only one recommending against kids in that age range being vaccinated.

Putting that down on my list of life goals: travel so much that a yearly travel insurance policy makes more financial sense than a per trip one.

@Renate, I've got no problem with your decision to not get vaccinated. It is neither a good or a bad decision. It is your decision and in most settings you should have the right to decide. What I'm going to say here isn't about you or your choices. It is about the facts and only the facts.
Those facts on the ground indicate that masking isn't going to stop SARS2 from spreading, social distancing isn't going to stop it, shuttering businesses or implementing mobility restrictions isn't going to stop it. Pandemic fatigue is rampant. Couple that with the reality that the CDC keeps inserting foot in mouth, they aren't credible and the information and recommendations they provide, some of it good, isn't going to stop it.
Vaccines are going to limit the spread of COVID but not eradicate it. What vaccines will do is make the pandemic manageable and reduce it's impact on our lives and right now, vaccines are probably the only thing that will allow us to do that.
The point is that while you have the absolute right to decline vaccination, it is vaccines that are going to slow down the spread of this thing. I don't think that factual reality is at all in doubt.

0_0 reacted to JeffB in US Appeals court lifts CDC cruise ship restrictions in win for florida
Unfortunately, there are a large number of Americans who seem to to be fine with government telling them what to do or not do and handing out free stuff without any thought of the government's bank balances.... and to hell with MMT.
The argument mitigating toward CDC regulation of the cruise industry is clearly spelled out in 91 at the Court listener, ORDER resolving 25--Florida's motion for preliminary injunction.
For those of us that have been following the CDC's circus act in the FL District and US Court of Appeals, and are close to this situation, the CDC's justification for the NSO and CSO are laughable. Judge Merryday presiding over the Middle District Court of FL seems to agree with us. His ruling was a blistering rebuke of the CDC's actions involving the cruise industry.......upheld on appeal by the 11th USCOA.
Still, we have a large group of American citizens that think what the CDC is doing, a reflection of what our government is trending toward if not already there, is fine. That's a disturbing thought. Time to push back, not only regarding the CDC's buffoonery, but also the unrestrained drift of governance in America to an unaccountable executive branch.

Protocols worked.  Cruising is safe.  Safer than being on land at least.
Had these two been out and about with their friends at home on land there would have been no testing and no detection.  Thanks to the cruise it was caught and now the families know and they can respond appropriately.
    Time to move on.

Nope ...... and I've been watching Court Listener daily. I meant to post an update earlier. Sorry.
It does not appear to me Merryday is any hurry to rule on the FL law suit. I'm speculating but I don't think Federal judges are purposeful fence sitters or like to wait around for something to happen that might shape their opinion and ruling.
These guys didn't get to the federal benches they sit on because they weren't smart. They climbed a complicated ladder to get to the Federal level. They know the law and they have several clerks around them that do the scutt work if they need refreshers.
The reality is that his is very complicated case with far reaching implications. I've already opined that I think Merryday will make a narrow ruling that sticks to the original 5 claims the state made. FL's strongest claim, IMO, is the one that involves the failure of HHS to notify (and by implication, consult) with state health and commerce authorities before they acted.  It is my understanding that a PHE does not relieve HHS of that requirement before imposing what amounts to federal policy - another claim the state makes that this sort of thing is in the congressional domain not the executive domain. This is where the legal issues get cloudy. I don't think that the CDC acted unlawfully or even over-reached because they imposed the NSO and the CSO via the VSP. It's possible that they exceeded their authority and of course that is another one of FL's 5 claims.
Again, I'm speculating but has everyone noticed that many issues involving cruise ship restarts seem a bit chaotic - just sort of treading water to see who throws the cruise lines, ports and ancillary service providers in the US a life line? Not sure but it seems like involved parties are waiting for clarity to emerge with a ruling - one way or the other - so everyone can get moving ahead. For now, we're at a standstill.
What I find interesting is that the uncertainty involving all aspects of a US restart has an impact on what's going on in Europe. I have two cruises booked from European ports. One is in July and the other in October. Both itineraries and/or sailing dates were recently changed. No question both of these changes are a result of shuffling ships around repositioning them.
Strangely, on a June 9th update to Celebrity Apex's safety protocols sailing out of Athens, masks were identified as being required, indoors, outdoors and with the only exception being while seated and eating or drinking. Masks are are not required on or off Millennium sailing out of St. Maartin. I checked to see about any health policy changes in Greece that might have precipitated this change. Nothing official although I was advised by email from Celebrity that a tour I had booked through the ship in  Lamissol Cyprus dropped an indoor dining stop to sample Souvlaki. All a little strange and somewhat suspicious ...... but as my policy is at this point, I'm going with the flow, whatever it is.

Currently on the 6-12 sailing - no you cannot disembark after you board. And yes, once you complete the check in process, you’re required to go to the ship.
If you’re flying in the morning of, you should be able to drop your bags with Royal at the airport.
What I would do in this scenario, is select a later check in time, you can drop your bags at the airport, then explore, then you can check in at your designated time.
The only downside is if you have specialty dining. The times were quickly filled as they’re limiting capacity in the restaurants, so if you have the UDP or 3 night DP, get on board early to make those reservations.
I carried on 2 bottles of champagne- no issues from anyone. You will have your carry on X-rayed as you board the ship.
I was asked nothing by customs, but a friend said she was asked if she had alcohol.. so ymmv

I can't answer the 1st question as we did not try.
I don't see why you couldn't drop off your bags and then check in later. Our bags were taken from the taxi by a RC porter. We then proceeded into the hotel to check in. If we had left in the same cab instead, or walked from the hotel to the downtown area, I don't think anyone would have noticed. Just set you check in appointment for later in the day.
