I have to wear a mask walking across a large, deserted parking lot when going to work at 3 am and when alone in a cooler breaking down pallets of 75+ lb boxes.

Wearing one on vacation won’t bother me in the least.

Now why can't RCG just do what Celebrity Cruises did?? Is it that hard?? Sheesh!! I know, I know.....it's all business.

Others are way more knowledgeable about FCC and refunds, but, I'm willing to say RCL will refund your original payment method. So, cash would have the option to receive cash back, FCC unfortunately might be another FCC. Someone will chime in if I am wrong or confirm if I am correct.
I am willing to bet my $20 dollar xmas stocking stuffer lottery scratch off winner that March is a no go. Sucks. I just asked the wife about ideas for a local summer beach trip. Might even consider a FL thing (we are NYers) in March or so, just to get out of here. Guess we will wait to see where the world is.

Not answering for @Srp431, but if he/she had cancelled their cruise and not paid the final payment, they would have received an FCC and not a cash refund.  By making the final payment, they are assured that when the cruise is officially cancelled by Royal Caribbean, they can, if they choose, get a full cash refund to use on their Cancun all-inclusive.

I suspect they are waiting until after final payment dates for April sailings. Then they will cancel March and April together. That way, they have more people's money and avoid the negative publicity of TWO more sets of cancellations.

Just a guess, and I'm probably not alone, but yes. A few months ago my guess was June, I don't feel as confident about that either. I am with @monctonguy who has stated several times he thinks Fall, at best. I have a September cruise and I suspect it will sail, but not surprised if it's cancelled for some reason. Whether Oasis isn't ready, bribe me to reduce passengers, or ships aren't sailing yet at all.

This is purely speculation, but I agree that March doesn't look good. I don't have a good feeling about May either, honestly.
Assume you made final payment? You can cancel and apply the FCC to May. If May is at least $500 higher (typical deposit for two), you can book now and apply FCC later once it's available.
If you're down to go on the March cruise assuming it sails and you've paid in full - sit tight and prepare to do a different vacation altogether - May might be too soon so you're just locking vacation money up on another trip with high probability of not working out. Once you cancel and take a FCC that's it, you no longer have that money as a cash option. I could be wrong, but even if they cancelled May and you paid with FCC they will refund what you paid in cash (the higher difference) and issue the rest in FCC.

If it were me, I would just wait for Royal to cancel.  There is -0- % chance that this cruise will sail and I believe that they will make an announcement about cancelling March cruises very soon....but that's just my opinion.
If you were to cancel yourself you would receive a Future Cruise Credit (which you could then use to book your May cruise).  The FCC would be for the total amount of the CRUISE FARE ONLY and each individual person who is on the March booking would receive their own FCC.  All taxes, port fees, gratuities (if prepaid) would be refunded to the original form of payment (most likely a credit card).
In the past, you could not use an FCC to make a new booking but that changed a little while back, so you should be able to your FCC(s) to book the May cruise once they are issued.
Have you considered the possibility that they still, most likely, will not be sailing in May either ?

I have a reservation for the Allure 7th of March. Really want to go, but I think they are probably going to cancel like every one else. We have picked out another cruise for May if this one does cancel.
I can’t book because the money we would use is tied up with the March trip. And of course the May cruise is higher.
    Thoughts?

    Hi Jen,
When you booked it did you book as a non-refundable deposit? If so then you can only get FCC back. Royal Caribbean has been pretty fair with their Cruise with Confidence plan- no change fees and letting people move their cruises a year out for the same price.

I concur with Hagar...takes several days for the "resolutions department" to manually apply FCC's.  Sometimes you even have to call more than once to be sure that the "back-end" staff are actually working on it!  It's strange that this huge corporation still has to get certain things done MANUALLY!!  Patience helps...but it will get done!

FCC's that are submitted electronically are added by "back of house" workers which may take a couple of days. With the "holly-daze" I'd give it even more than that ?

I have been trying to get an acceptable resolution for over4 months.  RCCL sends you to AON.  AON sends you to RCCL.  Circular logic is their game.  They point to the other guy and hope you will go away.  For my policy, AON is just the administrator - Arch Insurance appears to be the underwriter.  At this point, getting an acceptable resolution has become nothing more than my hobby. I kill them with kindness and just drag it out.  I do this with both RCCL and AON.  I've clearly been screwed, so it makes it easy.
Righteous Indignation is probably the best way to sum this one up for me.
If I cannot get money or credit back, I will take as much of their time as possible to wear them out and drag it on to add expenses to their overhead.  I had a 35 minute call with AON last week while in the car..... so had some time to kill.  I do that whenever I have a few minutes.  Add a few emails every week along with a snail mail letter referencing my emails and calls and it just bogs them down.  Adds to their overhead expenses - so I will just keep doing it until I get my money, credit, or think I have taken enough of their time to recover some of my cost.
Response time has improved over the past few months - but it usually takes about 5 days for them to respond.  Wait a few days and send a follow up.  Get some names off their website and sprinkle a few extra people on distribution and it just expands over time.

All new builds and retrofits since 2016 have hand washing stations in the WJ.  Even Empress has hand washing stations in the WJ from her 2016 retrofit.  It's pretty challenging to install hand washing stations just anywhere on a ship - there is no plumbing or mechanical chases to install plumbing around a ship.
Truth be told ships are already safer than many areas on land today.  Just look at noro statistics.  You are 21 times more likely to get noro in a school or church than a ship.  You are 42 times more likely to get noro at a restaurant in your home town than on a ship.  Where are the hand washing stations in churches, schools, restaurants and shopping malls?  It's a million times easier to install them on land than on a ship.  Yet that's not recommended by anyone.  Why do ships need them?  The task of retrofitting public schools with hand washing stations would be massive.  Cruises ships are significantly more challenging for such a retrofit.   Why isn't everyone outraged that schools aren't getting hand washing stations?
While several hundred people were infected with COVID19 from cruise ships in the early phases of this, thousands times that many became infected as a result of airplane travel during this same time.  The entire New York region outbreak was traced to airplanes.  Nearly all U.S. cases trace back in origin to airplane travel bringing it here.  Should they install hand washing stations every few rows on an airplane?
In March on Allure as we sailed to Spain just as Spain was emerging as a hotspot I saw fellow guests walking out of public restrooms on the ship without washing their hands.  Everyone on board knew about the virus and what was starting to explode at home yet people were not washing their hands in the restrooms.
You could install a sink every ten feet on a ship and there still will be anti-masker, anti-hand washing or anti-hand sanitizer types walking right past them even with the virus staring at them from the sidelines.

I agree, and it is baffling and disappointing that this all seems to have become more than it needs to be. Logic and Reason appears to have been taken over by Sensationalism and leverage. Once we strayed from presenting and analyzing  the REAL facts and instead began focusing, once again, on celebrity opinions on social media, it seems that this exercise has run its course and the media and the politicians should all get back to work and allow everyone else to do the same. In particular, the cruise industry.

With all the media raving about staying at home, a lot of folks are quaking in their house slippers and afraid to go out into the world. Wonder what the world would be like if our forefathers had that attitude? There would be no USA, no internet and no life. I am cautious but will not let fear cause me to not enjoy the life I have been given. At my age I want all the enjoyment in life I can get. And that includes cruising!
