Pattycruise got a reaction from Neesa in checking in with a family of 19
I think this may be the best option.  I recall having issues trying to limit onboard credit for my kids.....that didn't work. Then there was the time I tried to pay cash to put on their room, that didn't work either (I think they accepted the cash but the credit card still had to be on the room, which meant the could still charge things).  Guest Services seems to have different answers on different ships and even different answers depending on who you speak with on the one ship.
Loved it when my son ordered movies to watch in the cabin....(hope you caught that sarcasm)...I don't recommend you use your own credit card for anyone's cabin, you never know what charges you will incur.

Yes, you can still bring 2 bottles of wine.  I can't speak regarding where to purchase in the Bahamas, though.

Even though it is after final payment I checked my fare price for the October cruise.  The price had dropped so I called and got $445 in on board credit through the cruise with confidence program.  So check your prices regularly.

Sometimes, because of how slow points post to your account, if you did B2B or S2S near a threshold you might "accidentally" get a block twice or blocks from two ships.
The first ship shows you are due for a block so you get one.  The next ship thinks you are due for one because the points from the last cruise haven't posted yet when you sail them close together near a threshold.  Both ships think you crossed the threshold on that ship.

Unlike leveling up to the next level which only occurs once the cruise ends and the points post to your account, blocks are awarded on the ship where you will cross a threshold.
In the past they didn't always factor in bonus multipliers for solo or suites so I always stopped by the Loyalty Ambassador's desk to inquire and make sure they know I'm due a block.

    Hi Patty,
I am not sure why your TA didn't call and fix it, but I hope you can use a different agent next time. This shouldn't happen. Yes mistakes happen but we also should fix it.

How I wish turning off the TV and shutting out the news could put an end to all this craziness.  Unfortunately, at least here in Jacksonville, our hospitals are being taken over again by COVID cases, putting elective surgeries and procedures on hold.  Like I said in an earlier post, I did not get that from the news, but from real world frontliner friends who are exposed to that reality everyday.  I am blessed to be able to work from home, but as a minister, it breaks my heart every time I get a request for prayer for COVID patients.  I've officiated one too many funerals during this crisis.

I think that we all know that CoVid will more than likely never be a thing of the past. It is something that I'm sure will be with us for a very long time. I for one am not going to sit around worrying about this variant or that variant, or listen to all the negative news. Do I know people who have had the virus, yes I do, so I know what it's all about. But I can't live my life in fear and not do the things that I love to do. And that includes cruising. If for some reason my cruise gets canceled, so be it, I will just book another one. But I'm not going to cancel the one I have next month just because of a variant and what it may or may not do. Life is way too short not to enjoy it!!!

It’s pretty worrisome here in Jax. My friend’s husband (who’s had 2 heart attacks and a bypass) was sent home with Covid because there were no beds at Baptist South. Mayo and Memorial also were full. His cardiologist got him into Flagler for an antibody infusion and he’s turned around.

It only took 6 weeks to mail a letter from the colonies back to England in the 1700s. How can mailing something from anywhere in the US to anywhere else in the US add 6 weeks?

Pattycruise got a reaction from Neesa in 3 hours on hold for Air2Sea only to have my number taken because it is "another 3 hour wait"
10 minutes after I get off hold there is an email from my TA telling me my son's flight info.
    AND
    His name is incorrect.....
It's funny how TA are recommended.....I"ve booked my own flights for YEARS....and never have I input bad data.
SO I guess if Air2Sea ever calls me back I can inquire as to how they can fix that.  It's also wrong on the cruise, but wrong for a different reason.
    UGH

Go to the meeting.  Bring a deck of cards.....I recall seeing a lot of teenagers playing cards in various parts of the ship.  Even if she doesn't bring the cards to the first night she can have them as a "thing to do" later when she makes some new friends.

Pattycruise got a reaction from WAAAYTOOO in beach tents permitted?
I've used the tent on the islands and have never had a problem.  I also pack our own pool floats, like the others have mentioned above.
I LOVE the hammock float with  the mesh covering....I don't "stick" to any part of it.  Be careful about some of the hammock floats.  I had purchased some new -super nice looking ones- and it turns out you needed an air pump for them (there was no mouthpiece to blow up the float part).
I can't seem to get the link to import but you can search amazon:
FindUWill 2-Pack Premium Swimming Pool Float Hammock, Multi-Purpose Inflatable Hammock (Saddle, Lounge Chair, Hammock, Drifter), Water Hammock Lounge (RoyalBlue and GreenYellow)

Yes, It is very important to attend the first meeting on the first night of the cruise.  There are some organized activities as well but a lot of groups form up the first night.  Keep in mind that all the kids are in the same boat.

Canned water is HORRIBLE! no way to get rid of that tinny taste. Yuck. I will bring my own bottles then for sure.

Before the drink package days we'd bring refillable bottles, worked out great.
This probably doesn't need to be said, but we used the cups provided at the water stations to transfer the water to bottle. We never filled directly to be sanitary and courteous.

Pattycruise reacted to TXcruzer in Masks or Sheilds
I witnessed a very rowdy exchange between a traveler and TSA at DFW airport last week.  Traveler felt a face shield alone was sufficient (no mask), they were escorted to the exit door, and not allowed back into the terminal. I assume a flight was missed.

The face shield is only a supplement to a mask. CDC recommends it only in addition, not in place of, cloth face coverings. I’ll bet no will be the answer.

Pattycruise reacted to twangster in Is Honesty Important In Advertising? Or are scams just a normal way of doing things now.
Such is life.  Car dealerships offer "employee pricing, this weekend only!"  yet it's the same price.
How about the airline industry?  Next flight take a look around at your seatmates.  No one paid the same price.  There is no "standard price".  You pay the price it is the day you book.  Southwest allows you to watch for price drops and receive a future flight credit for any difference but most airlines lock you in the day you book.
At least Royal allows you monitor prices and refund/repurchase cruise planner items should the price drop.
My spreadsheet tracks dollar amounts.  I couldn't care less if it's 45%, or %10% or some other amount.  All I look at is the price.  I've saved hundreds watching the price, checking frequently.

As has been said, we found the Escape Room underwhelming.
We also found the Specialty Dining over-rated; if it's free, we do it (coupon).  Otherwise, we actually prefer the MDR as we get to know other cruisers.
Finally, I'll never order a birthday cake or strawberries  --   in our experience, the food doesn't arrive on the date scheduled, which ruins the "surprise".

The zipline on board the ship.  As much as I enjoy zip lining, they way you stop yourself is by slamming into a concrete wall. Thankfully, (I suppose) I did it on my last day on the ship.  I spent the next two days in a wheelchair because of knee damage. Won't do that again!

I will never tip the cabana attendant in advance again.  We were on Labadee in a cabana a few years ago.  We thought it would be easier to tip the attendant up front in case we got busy and forgot later or decided to leave and couldn't find him.  We gave him $20 at the beginning of the day and never saw him again.  Won't make that mistake again !
