  1. I can't believe you let Mariner go without you !! ? Thanks for the photos. Very nice
  2. What a great sight !!
  3. Probably not. When we used to eat in the MDR we always requested the same table every night and with very few exceptions (as long as we showed up when we were supposed to !) we always got it. It's easiest to get the same table when you generally eat at the same time every night. When it is most difficult is if you eat early once, late once, in the middle somewhere, early, late, etc. ....but that is also part of the appeal of MTD...to be able to eat whenever it is convenient. So there are tradeoffs....
  4. Daddy, is that you ?? I have been looking for you for sooo long ! I'm coming home now.... ?
  5. Doesn't MSC already offer some of this ? Don't they have an option that only includes buffet meals ? I'm not sure about the housekeeping part but I think MSC's lowest level of stateroom does not have main dining room service. I could be wrong. I cancelled both of the MSC cruises I booked...
  6. On my 3 night on NAV I am paying $69.00 PP for an UDP which worked out to $23 per night. $80 would be about 26.XX per night which isn't that much more. While not a GREAT deal I think it's a reasonable deal.
  7. Ok. Since it is confession time, I will join you. We always get the DBP too and I am a Coke snob so wouldn’t be caught dead drinking a fountain Coke. Dan doesn’t drink any soda at all. Not very time but SOME times, if I meet a worthy candidate, we will give our cups away to someone who will use it. I also recognize that this is not legal. Confession complete. Oooh. I feel so much better ! ??
  8. Welcome, Nick. I work in (we’ll, near) Detroit but live in Virginia. welcome to the family !
  9. Yippee !! Enjoy your time together
  10. I must be the most unlucky woman in the world. I do like chocolate but I have what MUST be a slight allergy to it. If I eat a piece of solid chocolate - like a Hershey bar (YUM !) my throat starts to constrict just a little and I begin choking. I have never had my throat close entirely but it is enough of a problem for me that I just stay away from solid chocolate. What a curse !
  11. WOW ! Beautiful, as always. Amazing that the Pixels costumes and staging is almost identical to spectra on Anthem ! Obviously, the vistarama images are entirely unique to Pixels but almost everything else is Spectra !
  12. I'm sure I will come across as a grump and social reprobate (which may or may not actually be the case !!) but I don't even really enjoy "chit-chat" with the waiters. I know that they are just trying to be pleasant but I really do NOT want to discuss how my day went, whether or not I got off the ship and how lovely or sucky the weather is ! Just bring me the menu and let me order my food. There are a very few exceptions for cases where I am acquainted with the waiter in some way (Yogi and Booboo (twin bothers from India) from Grandeur, for instance) but I really don't want to chat about my day....am I a terrible person ?
  13. For the nights that you are eating in the MDR you can either choose to make a reservation or just go to the "no reservation" line and wait to be seated. My experience is that it does not take long to be seated, even without a reservation. However....for nights that you plan on eating at a specialty restaurant, I highly recommend that you make reservations AND that you make reservations early in the cruise - as soon as possible. The "best" hours at the specialties fill up quickly and the longer you wait, the less likely you will be eating at a time of your choice. For the MDR nights reservations aren't that critical but for the specialty dining nights, it is.
  14. Welcome, Roleen !!
  15. When we were on Anthem in Feb that pastry shop (can't remember the name) had Starbuck's coffee products.
  16. I absolutely agree that Liberty is the better ship. If there is no significant difference in cost/night, then no doubt Liberty is a better option. If there IS a significant difference in cost/night then you will need to consider things like itinerary. I am also not a particular fan of short cruises so I will almost always opt for the longer cruise, regardless of ship. I have never sailed on Enchantment but from recent reports, it seems she is showing her age. I will always choose a balcony over an OV but that's just a personal preference. Price is definitely a consideration for this option.
  17. Thanks. I'm writing it down this time !
  18. Don't feel alone ! This is a relatively new program and lots of people still have lots of questions ! From what I have been able to determine, there is no rhyme or reason as to who gets "invited" to participate in the RoyalUp program. But it DOES seem to be true that you cannot bid on an upgrade unless you have been "invited". There is a website (but I can never remember what it is !!!) where you can go and see if you are eligible to bid on an upgrade (hopefully someone else will chime in and provide that website) but from what I have heard and read, you are not permitted to bid unless you have received the RoyalUp email. Good luck !
  19. It's always the most competitive at the top of the pyramid. I think Tony has a really good point...I would guess the chance of getting a big suite with a low-ball bid is far less probable than getting a balcony or lower with a low-ball bid. There are just more of them at the balcony and below level.
  20. All of the new cabanas appear to be smaller than the old ones. The old ones had 2 full walls and 2 couches - 1 along each full wall. Too bad they have only 1 couch now. I am hard pressed to call the thrill water park ones cabanas. There are no hard sides at all ! I consider that a palapa. No overhead fans at all on these ! At least everything is nice and new and the addition of the power outlets (on the chill ones, anyway) is a nice upgrade. I don't see any power outlets on the thrill island palapas.
  21. The atmosphere will be pretty much the same but without so many children. Definitely no need to worry about it being an "old" crowd. The big ships are magnets for all age groups.
  22. Welcome !!
  23. We were just there. We paid either $18 or $20 (can't remember !) (taxi) to go from the airport to the Sheraton Old San Juan. Then it was like another $20 -some dollars to from the SOSJ to the port the next day. Then there is the final leg from the port to the airport at the end. It was also $20-something.
  24. So horrible. Note to self: NO ! to Taquan Air !
  25. +1. This doesn’t seem to be fluctuating in any way ?
