Unsurprising considering how the US has handled this to be honest. America cares more about the economy than human lives.

Booking a cruise for late 2021. Any vacation that is restricted in such a way is no vacation at all. Saving that vacation time for sure.

When it comes to cruising I think the time to cruise will be different for everyone. Some will opt to cruise immediately, some will wait for the first few waves of cruises and see what happens, others won’t be cruising for quite some time.
The only thing that would cause me to be cautious about cruising is what would be the plan or course of action when someone inevitably has or catches CoVID 19 on a cruise.
Secondly, for me at least I’m not paying for a vacation that has face masks and restrictions. I know many people on the forum cruise multiple times a year but for me I’ll likely cruise once a year maybe once every two years. As such a vacation to me isn’t one that has limited capabilities.
That’s just my thoughts at least. Everyone has their different reasons to go or not to go.

This is a site for huge fans of cruising and specifically RC, of course there doesn’t need to be a vaccine for people to want to cruise.
And honestly the biggest deterrent for me is that it wouldn’t be the full vacation experience because there would likely be many restrictions for me to be paying full price. Racking up that vacation time for when I can cruise worry free.

Not for me. There's plenty of fantastic regular holidays I can take within my state, I'll be sticking to them for the near future.

I know people really want to cruise but with all the measures that will likely be in place it doesn’t seem reasonable to pay full or near full price for a vacation that will likely have limited activities, stringent guidelines, masks everywhere, safety checks each port, etc.
You just gonna eat and hangout in your room? I’ve been doing that for 6 weeks now.

People are always so quick to say others have no right to complain because someone has it harder or worse than them.
Why is hardship a contest? People struggling with their current situation aren’t invalidated because someone else is having a harder time. If anything both need to be addressed.

It’s as if I can feel empathy for people stranded on a ship and those who lost their jobs at the same time. Crazy concept.

Pure speculation from me but I don’t think any of the major cruise lines want to be the first ones that return to sailing. It just seems way more advantageous to let someone else go first and either adopt things they are doing or learn from mistakes made in the first sailings.

Not on a beach in FL, but how about Disney?  Retirement home?  airplane, subway, city bus?  Movie theater, grocery store, school, ball game, church, restaurant, bar?  Union meeting? Court? Have you dated? Did you have s*x with someone who could have had a fever?  Did you get a list of that person's other partners with contact info so we can check them out?  Do you know anyone who has done any of these things?
Are you going to tell an LGBT or whatever letters are now used they can't go an an LGTB cruise?  Good luck with that.  What about NAACP convention in Detroit?  You going to tell an employee he/she can't go there?  Do you want Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton on the sidewalk in front of your house with their bullhorns?
    It will not work.
Here's another one:  Do you want to be an employer who sends a young woman home for having a fever and then find out it's related to her menstrual cycle and nothing else?  Can you imagine the actual legitimate settlement that would come from that when you consider that RCCL is currently having to spend millions to defend itself because a grandfather picked-up his granddaughter and dropped her out an open window?  A window he denies he knew was open despite the video of him leaning the top half of his body out said window immediately before lifting the toddler.
The answers will ultimately come from the education side.  Wash your hands.  Don't touch stuff.  If you are sick, stay home.

Being very honest, I think it’s only the people here on this board who want cruising to resume. Everybody else??? “Boy do I need a vacation!” Is NOT what they are saying.. It’s more like “I’d really like to get back to my normal routine of a work week, an occasional movie, a meal at a favorite restaurant, and to go shopping without the worry of death.’
I just don’t see a market for vacations anywhere in the near term.

I apologize for the hurt feelings in advance.

I believe employers may claim they are keeping the workplace safe and may be safe-guarded by OSH Act. There are many new Covid-19 guidelines in place by OSHA.
I don’t think it will be the employers asking where people are going but after the fact nervous coworkers telling their bosses that someone went on plane or cruise and they feel unsafe.

I think you take a play book from how Disney started their reopening. You have to do it in waves. The first few sailings will surely not be at full capacity, and honestly many people will opt to not go on their cruises anyway so that works.

Spread out all Dining seats and tables.  same goes for the pool area. That have capacity limits  activities like escape rooms may not be open immediately Hand washing EVERYWHERE  The first few cruises are the most important. The media goes crazy if somethingCOVID related happens on those cruises. Unfair as that may be it’s the unfortunate reality. I just want everyone to be safe and happy.

I know personally I won’t be cruising until a vaccine is out. Therefore I will be eyeing an October 2021 cruise as the earliest possibility that will coincide with getting time off. As long as me and mine are safe I will gladly enjoy cruising.
I go see my grandmother every week I could never go on a cruise knowing I possibly could put her in jeopardy. And it’s not just the cruise obviously. It’s the plane ride to Florida or Texas as well.
Fun times will resume. And I can certainly wait till that happens.
