It's strange how everyone's "facts" are so different. 

I just really dont understand......I wish people cared about CARDIOVASCULAR DISEASE the way they care about some virus.....its exponentially more likely to kill you. Yet, the same people canceling cruises out of fear are lining up at McDonalds for a sack of burgers, killing themselves happily.

If everyone around me is dying as you offer then I don't want to be anywhere near that.  Grocery stores closed, travel bans so you can't leave your house or go to work or drive over to your family. 
When the world is ending in your scenario I'll gladly be on a cruise ship away from it all.  

Better on a ship then locked in your home on land watching the same.  

Cheap fares? sign me up! I'm not one to buy into the media fear mongering

The mortality rate of people who die from the Corona virus is less than 1%. And that is if you have pre-existing conditions such as cardiovascular disease, chronic respiratory disease, or diabetes. It is less than .5% if no pre-existing condition.
Painting a picture of an apocalyptic scene of people dying all over the ship is a little far fetched.
Even for those that are unfortunate enough to catch it, symptons are coughing, sneezing, and fever. Sounds kinda like the flu millions of people get every year.
The deaths are from folks over the age of 80. These same folks would succumb to the "common" flu as well. Unfortunate but nothing to panic over.

That or diabetes, smoking, using the phone while driving, driving while intoxicated....the list can go on and on about things we can control.

Hysteria can cause more disruptions and result in a lot more deaths than this virus. 

In related news: San Francisco Mayor London Breed has issued an emergency declaration aimed at preparing the city for a coronavirus outbreak – even though no cases of the new virus have been confirmed in the city.

On our cruise there are available rooms now, all the way from interior guarantee to one of the Star Loft suites, where everything was showing as "sold out" for months, so part of me really thinks it might be possible to get a positive response on Royal Up. The families we're traveling with don't even have official room assignments yet (one with interior guarantee, one with balcony guarantee), so maybe whoever is doing the math on our cruise is on vacation.

I read earlier that alcohol is extremely effective against the coronavirus  .... I'm heading straight to the bar ???

I'm sailing 04/04 and "pending" as well. 

Ugh, now I know of sailings both before and after ours that have confirmed Royal Up results. Meanwhile mine is still pending.

I have a question about this virus.  People already know how deadly and contagious it is.  Why is it still spreading?

We have been notified of "Royal-Up" opportunities for our last four cruises and won 2 of those opportunities. Our bids were considered weak. Always book a cabin you will be happy with. If you win an upgrade, look at it as a bonus. 

Im going to hope that my Royal Up bid gets accepted because people are irrational enough to cancel, and/or not go on their cruises. I will also worry more (which is to say hardly at all) about tripping over my kids toys and breaking my ankle, or getting in a car accident on the way to the port, or any other thing that is WAY more likely to happen. I will also wash my hands, and use hand sanitizer, as I ALWAYS do because people are disgusting, by nature.

As of today (2/26/2020) you are at greater risk of DYING in an accident from your drive to port or the airport in the US. The sky is NOT falling, Chicken Little. Good luck.
