Just received an email from Royal that the cruise leaving Saturday will change itenary from a day at sea Monday to take supplies to,Grand Bahamas. Royal is really doing as much as they can to help, out. I don't mind missing a sea day in an effort to help so many people that need support at this time.

Well I made this thread to get some possible information regarding Cococay and how this is going to affect my vacation. Afterall this is a cruise blog.. am I right? I live in Florida, we are also affected by this mess. Yes, its unfortunate that the bahamas is getting nailed with the worst from the storm, we can all agree on that.

Yeah my "Labor Day Sale" for the Navigator sailing 9/13 is the same sale as last week, making the package $61/night. It was $65 earlier in the week ? I was hoping for a really good one that might get it back into the 50's range. I definitely have given up hope on anything in the 40's.

My Harmony sailing is now at $52, but I bought it for $46 and I don't think I'll see anything close to that again ?

Just the cruise fare itself.  And it is specific to the person whose name is on the certificate.

So my wife and I originally were going on a cruise mid-December and then just a few weeks ago rebooked for our September 13th date. We were right at the 75 day full payment date and I honestly forgot until past it. I think the rules are fuzzy when it comes to actually doing full payment 75 days out when you barely book 75 days out. Or at least that's my experience very recently.

I had a conversation with the Hotel Director on Mariner (he was in The Bamboo Room every night!) and I asked that very question.  He told me the big slide tower was designed to withstand a cat 5 hurricane.

I haven't been very excited for this cruise during the week becasue of all the considerations, but my wife and I agree it's better to be on the ship than stuck at home riding through the storm.

I know the thread took a turn towards the hurricane... but that price is crazy! We're on Navigator 9/13 and the Perfect Day Thrill Park Cabanas are still listed as $399 for our cruise. Which was pretty shocking to me. Chill and Oasis Cabanas are sitting at $599 and the Day Beds are listed at $299. I'm watching to see if the day beds go on sail this weekend.
Sorry for your cruise worries @Matt! Hope it works out alright. The best part of a cruise to me is the not having to worry about anything or any schedule. This is basically the exact opposite of that.

    ? USD!
Thrill Park Cabanas are $999 USD for our December 2020 sailing.
I am a little annoyed at how Coco Cay cabana prices are not consistent like Barefoot Beach cabanas.  While not everything is a money grab, the cabanas there definitely are.

Similarly looking forward to @Matt's review.  WE are booked for October in an Oasis Lagoon Cabana.  Will be our first ever cabana and we managed to snag it for the bargain price of 299 which is close to what we have spent on beach bed or bungalow at Labadee.

@Big Dawg Ron: Matt! You've gotta come back with me!
    Matt: Where?
@Big Dawg Ron Back to Perfect Day at CocoCay!
Matt: Whoa, wait a minute, Ron. What are you talking about? What happens at Perfect Day at CocoCay? What, do we sign up for a cruise with @monorailmedic or something?
@Big Dawg Ron No, no, no, no, no, Matt. You turn out fine.  It's your weekend, Matt. Something gotta be done about your long weekend!
    -----
Friends, it's time to go back on board Mariner of the Seas over Labor Day weekend for a quick jaunt to Perfect Day at CocoCay, and a return to a live blog here on the forums!
With an extra day off on Monday for the Labor Day holiday, I couldn't help myself but book a quick weekend cruise on Mariner. Originally I was on Navigator of the Seas this weekend until a certain person decided to hold a celebration of their final days of being single there and I was forced to change ships.

Instead, we are headed back on Mariner of the Seas and down to Perfect Day at CocoCay.  Another visit to Perfect Day at CocoCay is always welcome, and these weekend sailings line up quite well with my schedule. I can work until lunch on Friday, head over to the port and then wrap up my day while onboard the ship.  Then the rest of the weekend is enjoyed onboard the ship!
Not only am I looking forward to getting back to Perfect Day at CocoCay, I am looking forward to @mpoole3 not ruining the weather this time around.

    Cabin
For this cruise, we have a category 2T Promenade View Interior room.
As I recall, prices for a balcony were a bit out there and a Promenade room gives us a much better value.  Plus, on a 3-night cruise without kids, how much time will I really spend in there?

We will visit Nassau and Perfect Day at CocoCay.
No plans booked for Nassau yet. Will wait and see what I feel like and then decide on something.
For Perfect Day at CocoCay, I reserved an Oasis Lagoon cabana in the name of "science".  I've stayed in the Thrill Waterpark and Chill Island cabanas, so now I need to try the Oasis Lagoon Cabanas to fill out the trifecta.

The live blog kicks off on August 30. Until then, I will be counting down the days until we depart.

Too many generalizations.....I know many Pinnacle Members that only cruise in Suites, to have sailed 700 days deserves perks and that's why RC have the most repeat customers and the most high cruising passengers. The whole reason Diamond Members got access to the CL back in the day started because the Suites were not using the lounge....they sat empty....CK is the same, many times they limit Pinnacle Members access....then it sits empty and they start booking the Pinnacles again....
I don't think Royal  has created a problem, they created an amazing business model that fills there ships with a diverse population and each year the build another ship and fill it too....this in part is there loyalty program....and they way many many people chase points to the next level.....it's actually quite genius.
I'm not so sure a Suite generates more revenue....it's the passengers that actually generate the revenue and it's easy to see that volume works with revenue generation because the ship have been carrying more and more passengers. Lets look at this way...... Suite is 500sqft (Premium Realestate plus perks) and 2 people pay $6000 or to have 3 Interior rooms at 150sqft (space that cant be used for anything more than storage, no perks) that pay $2000 each cabin (2 passengers)...so 450sqft brings in $6000 plus you have 4 extra people to buy drinks, shopping, tours and specialty restaurants...I think the sweet spot is about 5000 passengers….
I think Royal know exactly what it's doing and that's why they own a few different brands, Celebrity, Azamara, Silver Seas etc. each one has it's following and cliental.
    Just my 2 cents.

Ala_Paul reacted to twangster in How does delay of ship returning affect cruises going forward?
Typically the next cruise is shortened but the one after goes as planned.
Refunds are offered and for guests on the ship when it gets extended they get a longer cruise for free.  They typically are also offered super cheap rates to stay on the next shortened sailing.
When this last happened Harmony turned the subsequent 7 night into a 4 night.  A lot of people took the refund, some guest stayed on and the ship had 1/3 the number of guests compared to normal. Imagine an Oasis class ship with only ~2,000 guests.

Most airlines have or will put waivers in place and they do not charge for changes for impacted travel dates.

Depending on the length of the next cruise, that cruise could either be delayed and shortened or cancelled.
In January of 2018, we were scheduled to sail on Grandeur for a 9-night out of Baltimore. Unfortunately, Grandeur had a rudder issue that required an immediate repair on the preceding cruise that resulted in a 2 day delay on OUR cruise.
Rather than leaving on Thursday and heading to Charleston, SC as scheduled, we left on Saturday on an altered itinerary that skipped Charleston.
While we were initially disappointed, it all worked out pretty well in the end. We flew to Baltimore on Thursday morning as originally scheduled, got a cheap rental car, used Marriott points for two nights hotel, saw some sights in Baltimore on Thursday, & went to DC on Friday. (my wife had never been there)
RCCL compensated us with a 50% cruise fare refund & two days worth of our drink package refunded. Excursions for Charleston were also refunded for those that had them as well as airline change fees being compensated. (neither of which we needed)
