I signed up just to give a big thumbs up to this post. If you want to sneer at people for dressing smart but not as stuffy as you go find a different cruise line.

I don't dress for others. I dress for myself. Self-centered? So be it.

A couple of things having read through this post.
Europe is not always more “formal” - wearing smart, tailored shorts is acceptable at work nowadays. I work for a large multinational company who do not bat an eyelid at tailored shorts. As does my partner at another large company who don’t mind that he (and others) wear shorts to work as long.
As a poster above said, if I am on holiday or eating out at a restaurant at home, I’m more focussed on enjoying time with those I am with than other people’s legs.
People are on holiday in a hot country (countries in this case) and don’t want to overheat in trousers, just in case their calves might offend someone.
If calves and knees put people off their meal, should women not be covering up their legs in their entirety too? Sounds like the Victorian times when flashing an ankle was considered a scandal!
All the above aside, I am thoroughly looking forward to dressing up on formal nights! On one of which I am wearing a knee length dress. More scandal or is that allowed I wonder...

I respectfully disagree with you. I agree with Atlantix it is now very socially acceptable to wear shorts to a nice restaurant. I do this all the time and see many others in the restaurant doing this.. I highly doubt the ones not dressed in shorts are thinking gee I am here with my friends or family and I am really upset people are wearing shorts.. I just really don't think thats the case. And if its the case for you I don't really understand it. Why focus on me and what I am wearing I always sit at a private table so I am not bothering anyone. I just personally on casual nights don't feel the need to take my shorts off. I don't understand why that would effect your experience. At a nice restaurant if someone is wearing shorts does that really bother you? Do you really notice? I honestly care more about the people I am with and talking, laughing, and having a good time with than strangers wearing shorts.. Again not trying to attack you and you are of course entitled to your opinion but I just really don't get it.. Plus everyone has different circumstances.. I have a disability and it causes me to have sensory issues and honestly shorts are the most comfortable thing for me to wear. Now I know on formal nights I have to bite the bullet and be uncomfortable for 2 hours and I do it.. But on casual nights why should I sit and suffer just because it offends some random stranger that I am wearing shorts? I guess I will never really understand this but oh well like I said you are of course entitled to your opinion and I respect that I just respectfully disagree.

Where I disagree with you, it that I feel the social norm has already changed.  Shorts are acceptable dress in nice restaurants where I live (Chicago area) and I would agree the Caribbean is more laid back.  So I see no reason to only wear pants.

I used to dress up for dinner. Not anymore. If the cruise compass says casual that's exactly what I do I dress in shorts. If it says formal then I put on my pants.. No one has EVER asked me to leave any specialty restaurant or dining room on casual nights when I wear shorts. I wouldn't do it on formal night but if it says casual why not be comfortable.. I know its not in the rules but RC does a horrible job of ENFORCING their rules.. Maybe on Liberty as someone mentioned they do but I have been on Majesty, Enchantment, Vision, Mariner, Navigator, Independence, Oasis, Allure, Quantum, Anthem, Harmony, and Symphony for a total of 52 cruises and never had an issue wearing my shorts on casual nights.

On most ships, it is a set price of $9.95 + 18% service charge per person.  You don't make reservations as it is first come, first seated.  You can order whatever you want off the menu.  Milkshakes are not included in your cover charge unless you have the Refreshment or Deluxe drink packages.
If you are on Oasis Class they have free breakfast.
On Anthem and Navigator Johnny Rockets is ala carte so you only pay for what you eat.

Not sure how out you are for your sailing on Harmony but we are on the 8/4 cruise and the Main Dining Room menu is showing in the Royal App. You may be too far out to see it yet ....

You might try seeing if a Youtube review of your room has been done.  Go to Youtube, and in the search box put the ship name and cabin number.  You might get lucky and someone has done a walk through video of your cabin.

Twin bed is a small bed, think what a kid would sleep in.  Next size up is a Double, which you can find in many hotels as sleeps two.  Up from that is a Queen, which offers more room for the two people, then the King which offers the most space.  In each cabin there are two twin beds, that push together to make almost a King.  If you have the two beds pushed together, your small 9 year old may be able to share the bed with you two.

So I just checked your room 9595 only has beds for 2 people.. There will be no room for your son in that room.. like others explained not all rooms work for 3 people that's why when booking they ask how many people in a room.. As others suggested I think you should transfer this booking to a travel agent and have them work with you and come up with the best option.. But it might be that your son has to room with your brother..

This is the same link I posted in your other thread, look at the floor plan, if it has a triangle next to the room number it has a sleeper sofa, so 9595, 9597 and 9599 do not have a triangle.
If you look at 9593 it has the triangle as well as the arrow's designating connecting rooms.
The rooms come standard as 2 twin beds with a night stand in between, so they assume that 2 separate people will each sleep on their own bed, if you are a couple, Royal has to be told to join the same 2 beds together to make 1 big bed.
If you son is on the small side, you could tell the room steward to make the sofa up with bedding even though it is not a pull out sleeper, then you could have the 1 large bed to yourself.

Hope this helps, in the long run you could turn all of this over to a travel agent (Which is free) and tell them your needs and maybe they could still find 3 room together with sleeper sofa and maybe connecting rooms. A lot of us on here use MEI travel, they help sponsor this site so it can stay free.

Update:  The Compass indicates some hours -- when the areas are staffed if the activities require RCI staff..  For example, sports court is 8 AM - 11 PM on my Compass from Harmony last month.  But I don't see pools, spas, or mini-golf listed, and they are largely unattended, although lately I've noticed lifeguards on the pool deck.  Waterslides on Day 7 were open 9 AM - 7 PM.  If mini-golf is handled by the sports court staff, figure 8 - 11 PM, or thereabouts.

While on Hamony last month, we did play mini-putt golf late at night.  I don't ever recall seeing any hours posted.  We just went on and played whenever we wanted.  The only significant thing that would keep you from playing mini-putt is that the course is NOT lighted.  When playing later in the evening, the only light is spilled over from the sports court or other areas on the back end of the ship.  It made the course rather dark at times, and that alone would drive most people away from playing late at night.

If you look at the top of this blog you will see "Cruise Compass".  Click on that then use the filter to see only HOS compasses.  Find one that matches your itinerary and you can glean opening and closing times for all kinds of things.  It's an awesome source for seeing what kind of activities/opportunities you will have on your cruise

Good question. I've seen them closed for maintenance late at night, but I don't know what times.  There are hours for the slides.  The other stuff is generally open until they lock stuff up because kids have curfew.  You are probably safe until midnight-1 AM, but you should probably check a Cruise Planner in case it shows something.  A guest on the ship now could check for you.  You might query someone doing a live blog.

I've always considered the popcorn charge a means to an end - keeping it from being everywhere.
If it was free during movies nights the pool and hot tubs would be full of it as would be the pool deck.  Kids would be throwing it around without a care from their parents.  When there is a charge though, suddenly people become responsible with it since they paid for it.

From what I understand that’s not always a given. When you do your online check-in you’ll be able to see where your muster stations are.

I believe the main issue will be Sea Pass cards are "keyed" to the room you're booked in, so if someone swaps, that would mean needing to get different room key cards?

It shouldn't be an issue other than charges made by your son going to your bother's Seapass account.  When you do your online check-in set him up to post to a separate account.  I would carry on as if there is 2 to a room.

Shouldn't be a problem, just get a key-only SeaPass card made at Guest Services for your son after you get onboard.  He will still need his assigned SeaPass for any charges, but you can set that up at Guest Services or during check-in to use your credit card for the charges.  Your son will also need to go with your brother to the muster drill if you all aren't at the same muster station.
