jake1004 got a reaction from Moby Dick in What is your favorite RCCL ship past and present and why?
This is a fabulous question and I truly enjoy being on every one of them!
I think it is Allure for me-- fond memories of that ship and its offerings. We had an unforgettable low-key summer cruise that was just absolutely perfect. I have been on Harmony and Wonder as well and love the Oasis class, but my mind goes back to Allure and we'll be back on next week!
However, I also very much enjoy the different style on Anthem and I cruise that ship over and over due to proximity (love the Hershey kiss cabanas in 270), but not nearly as many options for dining like on Oasis.
Finally, took a Jewel cruise to the Greek Isles and that ship has a special place in my heart. While smaller, it was a great ship and crew and I will always remember my time there.

Well you have the email, so you can reply and ask if there's anything they need or want.

We had looked at upgrading from the CLS to the 2BR ATS as well but decided against it, mostly due to the small bathrooms and the long walk (when towing a cranky 2 year old...🤣)

Thank you for this info.  I went back and forth about bidding on a ATS and decided to go ahead and bid.  I love being on the 17th floor but want to try something different

I have stayed in the 2 BR ATS but never stayed in a CLS (I have been in one, but never booked one).
Pros of the 2 BR ATS: Star Class amenities (including the Genie).  Incredible aft views.
Cons of the 2 BR ATS:  LONG walk all the way aft.
Pros of the CLS: Dramatic views with the 2 level, full glass windows/doors.  Very short walk to the Coastal Kitchen/Suites Lounge.  Sky class amenities.
Cons of the CLS: Long, steep stairs.  Narrow room/balcony.  No real second bedroom.

The 2 BR ATS was our first (and second, and third) SC suites.  I really enjoyed the suite(s) but I soon tired of the very long walk and once I discovered the convenience of being up on Deck 17, we switched exclusively to Deck 17 and have never gone back.  I'm really glad we did the ATS.  There's nothing to compare to it.  Besides the Royal Loft Suite (and the Villa Suite), the ATS are the only SC suites that truly have a separate bedroom.
If it were me, I would definitely put a minimum RU bid in for the 2 BR ATS.  It would be well worth the SC amenities alone to get there via RU. Good luck !

No.  Not without repricing the entire reservation, which would [more than] negate any savings that you would realize from a RoyalUp upgrade.

The canceled sailing should trigger an automatic cancelation of all Cruise Planner purchases. It just may take longer to refund than if you would have canceled the purchase yourself.

My first visit to Aruba we rented a UTV through Roadrunner and went all over the island at our own pace. https://www.arubaatv.com/
This was before they stopped allowing the UTVs into Arikok National Park, so if you want to do that you'd be better off with renting a car or Jeep.
We also did the Sunset Cruise through Royal since we had the 8a-8p port stop and it was fantastic.

When I was there last, on Brand X Cruise lines a few years before COVID, we took an excursion that included lunch (which was a complete disaster), a trip to the natural bridge(s), an old gold processing plant, lighthouse, well, just about everything but the inner city.  It was informative and the island is actually a dessert island and beautiful.  So, once you get out of the city, residential and other built up areas, don't expect to see much greenery other than Cactus and other dessert flora.  I'd highly recommend a tour like this (lunch may have been a bad day).
The only thing I'd warn you about, many places won't let you use their restrooms unless you pay (I don't remember how much) for the use and some places also have attendants handing you a towel whom expect a tip.  So, have some cash with you.  Especially if you go to the Lighthouse.

Agree with @Allen2, depends on what you want.  Just did the "Sunset Cocktail Cruise" and "Kukoo Kunuku Party Bus & Beach Tour". Had a good time on both.

As with any shore excursion, a lot depends on your interests...a great choice: sunset cruise.

Thank you all! You have given me plenty to think about!!
I try to get on as many ships as possible, but my heart loves Allure from fond memories on trips past and typically it is so hard to get on an itinerary to Aruba so I think I am leaning that way! We will see if those FCC ever come in though 🤣
I truly think you are all right and that you can’t go wrong with either! Thank you again!

We have upcoming sailings on both Symphony and Allure.  We have sailed Allure years back.  We specifically chose Allure this time for the itinerary (Aruba and Curacao) and because we wanted to sail her again before she gets amplified.  Nice to walk the boardwalk without the Ultimate Abyss slide; still has the donut shop amongst other things that could change when amped. We booked Symphony afterwards but if choosing one, right now, we would choose Allure.

I would base my decision on the itinerary.
This coming December we are on Harmony 8 night cruise, I specifically chose this cruise because of the itinerary.  It's probably been 10 years since I've been to Aruba and neither my husband or I have ever been to Curacao so instead of booking Wonder, Symphony, Oasis or Allure we decided to book Harmony because of the itinerary.

We were on Symphony in Dec and Flight was performed but there were some technical difficulties and they had to stop and restart a few times. Felt sorry for the cast as they were stopped, lights and sound went out while they were mid song.

We have consistently found a huge difference in the friendliness (happiness?) of the crew overall and much prefer Symphony (especially their suite’s lounges and CK personnel). As to the ports, I can understand that you would like some novel ones. Enjoy whichever you choose. 🛳

Go to aruba, and book the Flaming Excursion on board the ship! It goes to a beautiful island with a waterpark and flamingos!

You could also book the rainassance day pass online which is also a great option! Aruba is a marvelous place, i've been there a couple times and its definitely worth it!

jake1004 reacted to twangster in Symphony vs. Allure
Both are great ships.  I've sailed Allure twice since the restart and love that ship!
Symphony is also a great ship and being newer she does have newer decor and newer venues like Playmakers and Hooked.
Allure has Mamma Mia! while Symphony has Hairspray, assuming they manage to get all the Broadway shows in full operation by the time of your cruise.
Symphony also has Flight as the secondary show which hasn't restarted yet since the restart that I am aware of.  (EDIT outdated info)
If the proposed cruise is in the near term they may not have all the shows up and running so that may be a moot point.  Mamma Mia! has been offered on Allure since the restart but that is subject to change since its very difficult to fill casts and backstage crew or keep them filled after contracts end at the moment.
Both ships will offer a great cruise experience so you can't go wrong either way.
