I agree...we have several JR'S around where we live and rarely if ever go. We're not fans of the crowds and chaos of the WJ for breakfast and prefer sitting down and being served (which is "our" definition of vacation). For lunch we do venture into the WJ or enjoy just grabbing something at one of the other included venues. We are glad that there are so many options as it helps spread out the masses. While I stated my opinions I don't begrudge anyone else of theirs. I do enjoy reading these kinds of posts as it shows us other options and different points of view.

Why would anyone eat a dry burger onboard from any venue when they can eat interesting entrees and appetizers all day long that most of us would never bother to cook at home (unless from room service at midnight LOL)? We prefer a full dining experience for breakfast, lunch, and dinner whenever possible, I can slum it at home at a much lower cost.

The same argument could be made for "why would anyone pay for a meal on a cruise when there are so many great included options?"

Get rid of the bionic bar and put a real one in its place.  I would also vote for the art auction and crazy number of watch/jewelry shops on board.

None.  Each has its appeal to different cruisers and even though we may not use one or two items on your list…We wouldn’t want them removed.  Sorry I’m sure not the answer your were looking for.

This is going to be one of those items that is a personal choice with no right or wrong answer accept it has to be right for you and your family.  We probably won't take advantage of this option.  We enjoy our vacations and cruises and generally stay in a Grand Suite.  I would prefer our rooms to be cleaned everyday instead of extra points.  A cruise is special for us and I'd like to keep it that way.

Agreed with this philosophy when I was Younger, but after attaining my 50's it was just to much work to carry when I could roll.

Living in NJ this is why my wife loves sailing out of Bayonne, NJ (Not NY). She can pack extra and not worry because we are not flying. 15 minute drive to the pier makes it so easy for us.

I had a friend surprise me by coming aboard and it was the best thing ever. We met on a ship and have taken several cruises together.

It is my understanding from doing this same thing in the past that in order to link accounts both parties have to agree to it. You could have an annoying neighbor/relative/friend who booked the same cruise without you knowing and link accounts and now are awkwardly stuck with them for the entire cruise.
On one cruise I had my nephew take the place of my son who couldn't make it on the sailing. It was easier because I knew where he was and he kept his distance knowing where we were. Then he sent a photo of us to my kids...at first they were like, that's weird, Sam just sent us a photo of us standing here by the pool...after a few seconds they caught on and they scanned the deck for him until he came out from behind us.
IMHO I would stay in contact with one of their group that you could trust to not spill the beans and plan a surprise somewhere on the ship like sail away. Towards the previous posts, not sure if your cabins are near each other but if you have the same Muster station you might accidentally bump into them. I think they will be just as surprised whether you do it at dinner or after getting on board. At least you will be able to enjoy sail away together...just my opinion.

There is no way to link and reserve without them knowing.  If you both have MTD, or the same dinner seating, I am sure it could be handled by a trip to the restaurant manager on day 1.  My honest opinion is that you should surprise her by meeting them at the cruise terminal instead of the first night dinner - You could easily run into them on the ship before dinner anyway.
