We are a family of three
Me, Husband and our 20 year old daughter.
We have sailed on three different cruise line, in 11 days RCC will be our fourth.
We have sailed Disney, Holland and Norwegian.  Our daughter was 8 on Disney, 12 on Holland and 16 on Norwegian.
Hands down Disney was the best, the best at everything but price.
We will report back on how RCC rates. compare to the other three.
If you have any questions on the three lines we've salied ask away.

Trying to explain to my eight year old what people wore in the 80s for the 80s party was hilarious. Almost as fun as trying to explain to her what a pay phone was and why we needed them.

Sorry, but the reason I never talk about it is because I feel, in my not-so-humble opinion, to be at best an unsolicited sales offer and at worst a border-line racket.
The shopping seminar is more about which stores have paid RC to advertise as stores to go to, rather than an educational overview of which areas of the city/island truly represent a good place for value or deals. Any store that is mentioned in these seminars have paid to be mentioned. Moreover, there is often a kick back for sales referred.  Not to mention that "little hook up" is a ploy to get you into the store.
If you want to learn about the port you are visiting and/or the best areas to shop, I recommend utilizing the internet and getting recommendations from other cruisers who have gone to these places.

Twelve days with the unlimited dining package and unlimited drink package? That would get rid of all the wrinkles in my clothes.
My advice is stretchy pants, and lots of them.

I totally agree with amathey11, we loved Roatan!!
We went with a private tour guide, we zip lined in the rainforest saw Monkeys Iguana's and beautiful birds, toured the island and then hung out at one of the beaches that was breathtaking.
Costa Maya, I would totally skip.
    Never been to Cozumel.

Thats what I want to rent for our day in May  but it says you have to check on-board, it was never an option to book pre-cruise.  I hope they are not sold out!

I forgot to mention they have Splitville, it a huge bowling alley that serves some really good food.
The Void: Step beyond reality, cool virtual reality adventure, look it up
The have a movie theater where you can reserve your seat or eat while watching a movie.
A lot of shopping from unique boutiques to name brands
Great restaurants, recommend making a reservations to them (open table has some, Disney has them all).  Last trip we really enjoyed the Polite Pig (BBQ food) and Wolfgang Puck.

Yes, If the above things interest you, you could spend all day there
I'm a huge Disney fan but there is a lot more to Orlando then just Disney  (my husband will never hear me say that)
They have a couple of decent outlets (rent a car if time permits to do this)
They have Universal Studio and Sea World ( cheaper then Disney)
You could also visit Kennedy Space Center
Just depends on how much time you have at this port, the drive to Disney is about 45 minutes with decent traffic/construction , so factor in 2 hours drive time for both ways at least.
    Hope that helps some.

I'm very new to RCCL but I know quite a bit about Disney World.  I've been 40 plus times.

Disney Springs (Downtown Disney) is nice for eating and shopping.  For Disney shopping there is the huge World of Disney and then some smaller boutique shops.  I'm not sure that's what you had it mind, maybe it is?
To get a one day ticket is pricey, Disney is pricey.
Check out these sites, EasyWDW.com has a message board like here ( they are very nice like here too)
Mousesaver.com is a great site to check out and gather information

I personally don't use straws, as I tend not to get ice in my drinks. Working in the food service industry for so many years, I've seen the inside of too many ice machines! ?

Taxi is your best bet. It will be about $20-25 each way for 2 people. Add $5-8 per additional person each way.
I've not shopped in Marigot but I believe it is more fashion/purses/clothing/perfume based where as Philipsburg (where you dock) is heavier on jewelry. Philipsburg will be a bit more touristy but I find that Sint Maarten/ Saint Martin aren't as bad as most ports. It's been about 4 years since I was there last, but I think that still holds true.
Marigot should have some botique shops as well as major fashion brands.

Hello Fellow Cruise Lovers out there. My wife and I went on a vacation of a lifetime and got a spectacular rate on the Liberty of the Seas Royal Suite #1640. Since we were with a group of our friends, we decided to go all around the ship and in our cabin and shot a music video. I hope you enjoy.

I have always been "colorful" and not one to follow the beaten path. I have had a couple occasions  where staff had to ask me nicely to stop fishing off my balcony. This time I decided to go a slightly different direction. Brought my daughter to Coco Cay when she was about seven and came up with a "good way" to spice her trip up some. I brought her to the little shallow beach away from the popular snorkeling one to do some "special snorkeling". Being a fisherman and diver over the years I developed a collection of old galleon "pirate coins". brought one along tucked in my waist band. The water on that south beach was maybe knee deep, sand bottom and of course gin clear. We were maybe thirty yard from shore and I tossed the coin out in front of us without her seeing... I nudged her and kept her on course to "find" it... I remember her making noises through her snorkel when she "found" it.
"Daddy its a pirate coin!" Wow was she excited! Mission accomplished  (or so I thought). We exited the water and she ran off showing the coin to every person she saw. Before I knew it,  the other areas emptied out and we were "joined" with a couple thousand "treasure hunters"... She's 27 this year and getting married. I had that coin set and unbeknownst to her I will make it available for her to wear when I walk her down the aisle... ?

On our Canada/NE cruise on the Jewel in 2004 we were on the younger end of the average age of the non-crew ship inhabitants.  We were selected to be on stage for the "Love and Marriage" game.  I ended up giving a fairly risque answer to one of the questions during the game. I don't recall if we won the game or not.  What I DO recall was the realization the next day that I had gained instant ship fame because they kept playing the recording of the game over and over and over on the TV in everyone's staterooms the rest of the week.  The entire rest of the cruise I kept getting winked at, side-eyed, slapped on the back,  and high-fived everywhere on the ship.  "Hey, you're the girl from the "Love and Marriage Show ....".
(To reflect back on that cruise, and my earlier response to this post, at least they didn't have footage of my pathetic attempt at ping pong on the ship. As it is my husband won't ever let me forget that fiasco).

Me, husband and our daughter were sailing on Holland and we meant an older lady who used a walker to get around.
Her walker had a bike horn on it and if you did not move out of her way she would honk away.  So thru out the cruise we'd hear her horn and laugh.
My husband was a frequent victim of getting the horn blasted at him.
So as we where waiting to collect our luggage, we hear her horn.
We all three turn and look, there she is strolling by but we notice on her blouse, it 20 plus name tags from the crew members.
My daughter turns to us and says "Guess they did not get out her way, wonder what she did to them to get their name tags"

I guess people perceive these things differently, and I never claimed to be in the mid portion of the normal curve on most variables, but it is one day and to me it would be crazy to spend that much on 1 thing or even on 1 day. As you point out, someone could take a cruise for that price. But that is just how I see it. I can enjoy my day quite a lot either way ??‍♀️  But, I am definitely not criticizing those who pay for those things at all, everyone has a right to their own priories in life and there are people that I like quite a lot that pay for cabanas (and such) regularly.  And I had had lots of friends who have wanted one and invited us to join them (anyone who wants to do so in the future, feel free ??).  But, in my “worthwhile” calculation those usually fail horribly here 15 years from retirement. I did find a bungalow for our coco cay visit in May that was just under $200 and that we went for since I had a carcinoma on my face in my mid 30’s because of how fair I am - guaranteed shade at that price (and them delivering lunch) made it a “go” ?
To your first comment - the vast majority of the people here are super nice and very helpful. Sure, snarkiness and ego do occasionaly rear their heads, but it is rare and is far, far, FAR less than you will find anywhere else (and sometimes I think it’s from those who mistakenly think that dry humor translates in writing when it comes out seeming mean or terse).   You will like it here, the members have a weatlth of cruise-related experience to offer.  Welcome, glad you are here ?
