Royal currently has enough money to operate for quite some time.  They have just uncreased their line of credit by $500 million.  The US government will be there to help if it came to that
As well they many ships that if they had to they could sell a ship or two.  If everyone booking was to be refunded, then it may cause a major cash flow issue for all the cruise lines.  They are not currently operating so the expenses for the ships are drastically lower at the moment as well.

I would think that Royal would have the crew in separate rooms just until they know there is no one infected with Covid19.
I bet they will all take turns docking in Coco Cay so the staff can get off the ship at some point.

    Folks,
There is a rationale for these actions, whether you may agree or not.  Google "flatten the curve".  Briefly, by buying time preventing the expansion of this illness, one increases the chances that the healthcare system will not become overburdened with patients needing critical care.  The model acknowledges that inconvenience and lifestyle disruptions will occur, but the alternative could be much worse.
That said, does anybody know where I can score some TP???

With everything going on with this virus, I certainly hope that management at RC isn’t dumb enough to do something like this. Cruise lines are already under enough pressure as it is, the last thing they need is to come across as dishonest.

On Liberty now. Cozumel let us dock. Grand Cayman let us dock. Headed to Falmouth now & nothing has been said about not docking. There were 7 ships in port in Cozumel (2 RCL, 3 Carnival, & 2 NCL).  6 in Grand Cayman (all a different line). In fact, we were next to the MSC ship that was denied entry last week. No issues for any of us getting off.

KenCP reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Future Cruise Credit (FCC) question
Assuming there are no agency fees/penalties, you should get a total refund/FCC for everything, eventually.
Pre-paid gratuities, taxes and ports fees will be immediately (5-7 business days) refunded to the original form of payment.  The remaining value is the cruise fare.  That will be presented in the form of a Future Cruise Credit(s).  Important to note:  EVERY cruiser will receive his/her own FCC in the amount of their individual cruise fare.  Only the person to whom the FCC is provided can "spend" the FCC.  So if there are 2 adults and 2 children on the original reservation, 4 FCC's will be provided.  Only the person's name on the FCC can "spend" it on another cruise.  In other words, you cannot take your children's FCCs and apply them to a cruise that just you and your husband are taking as a replacement cruise.

Currently on Anthem and have had no issues whatsoever (fingers crossed). They did mandatory temp screening upon initial checkin, but that was very quick and also pretty comforting to know that anyone with a fever would be taken for more screening. Definitely an increased awareness for washing and sanitizing. All passengers I’ve seen have been very compliant and are washing before Windjammer, etc. Really have not noticed any sick folks on the ship! Just seems pretty normal. Stopped in Port Canaveral yesterday and no issue. Today Nassau. Tomorrow CoCo Cay. It’s been a great relaxing trip so far and prayers it continues this way! Happy, healthy and cruising!

Received an email early this morning from our Canadian friends who are currently on the Jewel of the Seas. The ship sailed yesterday from Dubai heading for Abu Dhabi and Sir Bani Yas Island but both ports were closed and the ship returned to Dubai overnight. We were due to join our friends on Monday for two B2B cruises on 16th and 23rd March but it is looking like both of these cruises could be cancelled.
Two passengers onboard are also ill and waiting to be tested for COVID-19 by the Dubai Port Authorities before a decision will be made on future sailings.
We have heard nothing from RCCL so far but will post updates on the forum as and when we receive any more information.

KenCP reacted to AnnetteJackson in FCC - your travel agent does not get a copy
    Hey,

Wanted to put this out there for everyone.  While Travel Planners get lots of emails about cruise planner sales, royal ups, changes in itineraries etc.... we do not get copies of your Future Cruise Credits. (FCC).  The cruise lines send those directly to you the client because they are not tied to the agency you booked with.  This way you can book with a deposit what you would like, with whom you would like and then apply that FCC to your booking.
Lots of questions on this, so figured make it a topic - although I don't know how many people search a topic before asking.  It's all good!

Yes, you can.  The FCC is the clients and is never attached to an agency until it is applied to a booking.

NCL is really looking for cruisers.
"FREE FOR ALL" Free Open Bar, Free Specialty Restaurants, Free excursions (I guess if you can get int port), Free WIFI, and $200 on board credit.  This is available to all cruises and staterooms.
Also, great air offers as well to Europe, Alaska, and Hawaii.
Interesting to see what Royal offers

KenCP reacted to twangster in Future Cruise Credit (FCC) question
Historically FCC can be applied to more than one cruise but...  the first cruise that had FCC applied has to complete before the remaining FCC will be made available for another cruise.  It's not clear if this FCC will work in the same manner as traditional FCC has worked so we can only wait and see.
  22. Thanks
KenCP reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Future Cruise Credit (FCC) question
Correct.  Only the base cruise fare. Yes, if the cruise you re-book does not consume all of the value of your FCC, the remainder will be reissued in a new FCC but it is my understanding  that the new FCC will have the original expiration date as the first FCC so you will still have to use the remainder by the original expiration date.

It sounds like the FCC can only be applied to the base cruise cost; not port fees & gratuities, is that right? We booked at rather a high rate so if we cancel, can we use the FCC towards more than one cruise?
  24. Thanks
KenCP reacted to WAAAYTOOO in Future Cruise Credit (FCC) question
Yes, you absolutely CAN apply an FCC to the cruise you have booked in April 2021.  FCC does not have to be used to book a new cruise.  Can be applied to any existing cruise - even one that is paid in full.

    Planning a cruise
Canadians planning cruise ship travel should be aware that infectious diseases, such as COVID-19, can spread quickly due to close contact between passengers. Older people and people with a weakened immune system or underlying medical condition are at a higher risk of developing complications from COVID-19.
As the situation evolves, many countries are implementing policies and restrictions in order to contain the COVID-19 outbreak. These restrictions may impact a cruise traveller's:
itinerary ability to disembark access to health care It could also result in travellers being subject to quarantine procedures.
Passengers who plan to travel by cruise ship should contact their cruise line to check if their travel plans will be impacted by the COVID-19 outbreak. You may also wish to visit the Cruise Lines International Association for information regarding how they are responding to the situation. https://cruising.org/news-and-research/press-room/2020/march/clia-covid-19-toolkit
Reduce the risk of infection by following prevention measures when travelling. https://www.canada.ca/en/public-health/services/diseases/2019-novel-coronavirus-infection/prevention-risks.html#re
Refer to the advice for cruise travellers for more information on how to plan for a safe cruise.  https://travel.gc.ca/travelling/publications/advice-for-cruise-travellers
    Outbreak situation
Should an outbreak of COVID-19 occur on your cruise ship, you may not be offered the opportunity to return to Canada on a government-organized flight, as occurred with the Diamond Princess Cruise Ship in February 2020. If that is the case, when you return to Canada on a commercial flight, you will be required to remain in mandatory isolation for 14 days at a location determined by the Chief Public Health Officer.
The decision on Minimizing the Risk of Exposure to COVID-19 Coronavirus Disease in Canada Order (Persons Not on Government Flight) is effective from February 19 to April 30, 2020.
