  1. You could try taking a screenshot of the page and email it to the rep you are speaking with.
  2. Here in Maine, my in-laws were able to get free PCR tests at cvs for their return to Canada after our thanksgiving (they are Canadian citizens) They said Walgreens would do the tests as well, but the timing didn’t work for them. There are free tests available to non-US citizens, as well as lower cost tests. The issue is making appointments and timing the tests for flights back to the home country.
  3. We cruised out of Nassau at the beginning of September….visited CocoCay and Cozumel. We were uncomfortable because of the heat and humidity.
  4. One of the reasons we changed from Grandeur out of Barbados to Oasis out of Miami in January is because Oasis has more to do than Grandeur if ports close on us.
  5. Trolling social media looking for dirt. Pisses me off when people do this…whether it’s cruise related or not
  6. I sort of understand anxiety…to the extent that anyone who doesn’t actually experience it can…so I feel extremely fortunate that neither my wife nor I get anxious for pre-cruise rest results. My work places me in close proximity to hundreds of strangers each shift, so I suppose I have developed a somewhat fatalistic attitude towards the whole process. We have trip insurance and accept that a positive test result for either of us will cause our plans to change.
  7. Based on my small, unscientific sampling of 36 years in supermarkets….the last 23 in the same large regional chain, I can tell you all the retail workers I know are exhausted and fed up with people. Customers range from passive aggressive to just plain aggressive to blissfully unaware of their actions. I can’t even imagine how current events and protocols are affecting crew members onboard ships. From my observations, the customers onboard a cruise ship are 100% more demanding than the ones we deal with in a supermarket. The entitlement attitude I see in some guests is through the roof I know how we feel with all the maskless people shopping around us while we are masked up. I suspect it’s even more relentless for crew members….I can leave the area at the end of my shift and take my mask off. They really don’t have that kind of option unless they’re in their own personal space. Here’s an anecdote from our last cruise: I pull my mask up when I interact with a crew member when we are in a “maskless” area. In this instance, I was getting towels on the pool deck. Another guest commented to me that we didn’t need masks out there. I told him that I was doing it out of respect to the crew member who I was standing right in front of. He thought I was being ridiculous. When I was handed my towels, I got a very heartfelt “thank you” from the crew member. Here’s a thought to take with you today: It costs nothing to be kind to another person even if you don’t agree with them
  8. I did my open water certification on Adventure. I enjoyed the course and felt very comfortable with the instruction I received. There were three people in my class. With such a small number, there was plenty of time for one on one interaction. We did our open water parts in San Juan and St Thomas. i bought mask/snorkel/fins at a local dive shop before the cruise. I asked the owner her thoughts about doing the course through Royal. She told me that the instructors are all PADI instructors and would take it seriously. She also told me that I could take the course through her, but I would enjoy learning to dive in the Caribbean rather than the cold Atlantic off the coast of Maine.
  9. We’ve never been able to stay awake late enough to attend the adult shows.
  10. Pax Unplugged is in Philadelphia Pax West in Seattle Pax East in Boston Pax South was in San Antonio, but it fell victim to the pandemic.
  11. The two rider atv is purpose built for two. It’s stable.
  12. We used to do similar things with our sea bags when going on or coming home from deployment. Anything to make it distinctive in the huge pile of bags.
  13. I just got home Monday night from Enforcing at Pax Unplugged......I'm about to be 52...it was my 11th Pax
  14. My 19 year old and I did the Jade Cavern one in Jan 2020 (through Royal). It was fun for us, but we are pretty low maintenance. By the time we booked, there were only 2-person atvs left, so I let him drive. We've always had wheelers (I started with 3-wheelers in the mid-80s), so compared to the ones we have at home, the rental ones were nothing special, but we still enjoyed the time. Those who were beginners had no problems learning and driving. We rode in a follow the leader style, with a guide leading and one following the group. Mostly dirt road riding with a few muddy areas. We stopped at one of the cenotes for a walk down to it an swim for those who were interested. The water was nice and cold. After the ride, there was the obligatory tequila tasting.
  15. Our first cruise of the restart was out of Nassau on Adventure back in September. We really enjoyed the opportunity to get to know the crew members we interacted with. 470ish people onboard meant that there was plenty of time for the crew to spend talking with us. …..and we begrudgingly loved sailing in a Junior Suite. It’s changed our booking habits. While we’re not ready to go “all suite, all the time”’ it made us decide that all future bookings will include a balcony.
  16. We vigorously wave to people when they seem interested in what we’re doing. I’m not saying to be inappropriate, but once you stop worrying what others think, life is less stressful
  17. This is our reason for using a travel agent. While we’re all about saving money, we don’t care if the price is the same. What we put value on is the service we receive from our agent. Throughout the pandemic, the service (with our cruises) our agent has provided us has made things easy and stress free.
  18. Thank you for sharing. This means I can stop checking all the time for a bit.
  19. Ahhhhhh For many years I’ve volunteered at a gaming convention with our youngest. This will probably be our last year that we can do it as they are moving on to the next phase of their life. Today, I showed my vax card to get my wristband for the weekend Guess what kind of wristband it is…..
  20. We just bid the minimum of $40 pp to go from a neighborhood balcony gty to an ocean view balcony on our January 30 Oasis cruise. JS started at $300 pp. we didn’t do that I kinda like the neighborhood balcony, but my wife likes the “excitement” of doing a Royal Up. $80 total is cheap enough if our bid happens to be accepted.
  21. Another vote for a vpn. I have one on my phone, iPad, desktop, my wife’s laptop, etc.
  22. If there’s a rhyme or reason, I haven’t been able to figure it out. For example: On Adventure back in September, we bid minimum on a JS and just below mid range on a GS. We got the JS and met a couple onboard who got a GS with the minimum bid…. Which was less than we bid for a GS. For our money, we book a cabin we will be happy in. If we do a Royal Up and are successful, it’s a bonus.
  23. We spent an overnight (all onboard) at CocoCay while on Adventure. It was weird being at the pier throughout just one night. I can’t imagine 28 nights.
